Chapter 1264: Chapter 79: The Former Annihilators

On the eastern side of the Dark Moon Swamp, within a vast forest.

The bushes rustled as a figure emerged, brushing aside the leaves on his head.

"Is it okay to leave A Mu in the Dark Moon Swamp?"

The figure that emerged from the bushes spoke; it was Su Xiao, who had just finished washing up.

"Woof."

A familiar bark came from behind Su Xiao; it was Bubu Wang. After causing chaos in the Undead Capital, he quickly used his environmental blending ability to leave the capital and meet up with Su Xiao. As for A Mu, it temporarily could not leave and was still soaking in the swamp’s muddy waters.

Su Xiao had temporarily shaken off the undead army, but not completely. He had discovered earlier that the Undead Clan could use some method to detect his location, but this detection could only pinpoint his general area and couldn’t be continuous. Whenever the mark on the back of his hand radiated a burning sensation, it indicated that the Undead Clan was detecting his position.

This detection could not be performed more frequently than every 3 to 4 hours at the shortest, and Su Xiao utilized this time gap to evade the encirclement of the Undead Clan.

Once, more than two hours after the Undead Clan detected his position, Su Xiao had Bubu Wang create chaos in their capital. Theoretically, two hours was enough time for Su Xiao to reach the capital. After chaos erupted there, part of the undead army began converging towards the Dark Moon Swamp, ready to close the net.

Clearly, the Undead Clan had not captured Su Xiao. After hiding in bear caves, pretending to be a corpse, having Bubu Wang create chaos, and numerous detours, the undead army’s first large-scale encirclement attempt failed.

This did not mean the Undead Clan had failed; in fact, in many ways, they were successful, having confined Su Xiao’s area of movement to the vicinity of the Dark Moon Swamp.

Be aware that it was still the second stage, the survival stage. At this stage, it was challenging for the Undead Clan to locate Su Xiao. As for the third stage, the Purgatory Stage, by then, the Undead Clan could detect Su Xiao’s position every ten minutes, and in the final Nightmare Stage, the detection would be continuous.

Su Xiao walked through the forest. He was certain that the forest was already surrounded by the Undead Clan, as the sky was flooded with signal flares. The previous plan could not succeed a second time.

"Woof."

Standing atop the tree canopy, Bubu Wang barked.

"Found the relic?"

Su Xiao’s eyes sparkled with excitement, having endured countless difficulties to reach the Relic of the Annihilation Law.

Bubu Wang’s dog face became somewhat embarrassed, having not discovered the relic but rather a pillar of light.

Leaping to the tree canopy, Su Xiao saw it—a towering blue pillar of light with a diameter of several dozen meters rising into the sky, surrounded by floating large fragments of stone.

Su Xiao’s heartbeat quickened, and the Blue Steel Shadow within his body became incredibly active, as if some consciousness was summoning him.

’Come here.’

’Inherit our will.’

’We... have waited a millennium.’

Blue light flickered in Su Xiao’s eyes.

"Finally, I’ve found it."

Su Xiao leapt down from the canopy and sprinted towards the blue pillar of light. Behind him, Bubu Wang suddenly bit onto Su Xiao’s calf.

Su Xiao was momentarily stunned, seeing Bubu Wang’s anxious expression, seemingly worried about Su Xiao being controlled by some consciousness.

Seeing Bubu Wang’s expression, Su Xiao’s mouth twitched; this clown had obviously watched too many films. He was the Shadow of Annihilation Law; how could he be beguiled by the consciousness of his predecessors? The atmosphere was unbearably awkward.

"Let go, the Undead Clan is closing in."

Bubu Wang’s brain seemed a step behind; it wagged its tail to ease the awkwardness.

One man and one dog dashed towards the blue pillar of light. After charging through a section of trees, a majestic hall came into view.

This hall was tens of meters high, ancient and partially collapsed, with large fragments scattered around.

The area within a few hundred meters of the hall was suffused with light blue energy. Bubu Wang attempted to touch the energy with its paw, only to yelp as an arc of electricity zapped it.

Su Xiao tried to touch the blue energy, causing an electric flash; his palm started to tingle, but the Blue Steel Shadow energy within quickly dispelled the numbness.

Cladding his body in the Blue Steel Shadow, Su Xiao attempted to enter the energy field, with no further flashes of arc.

A mass of Blue Steel Shadow energy appeared in Su Xiao’s hand; he covered Bubu Wang with it and dragged the dog into the energy field under its terrified gaze.

"Aroo~"

After a brief yelp, nothing happened; Bubu Wang opened its tightly shut eyes, its expression seemingly overly dramatic.

"This is Thunder Attribute Blue Steel Shadow energy."

Su Xiao scrutinized the surrounding drifting energy, puzzled as to why his Blue Steel Shadow energy had a thunder attribute; it was unreasonable.

Because of this Thunder Attribute Blue Steel Shadow energy, the Undead Clan could not approach the Relic of the Annihilation Law; they couldn’t even get close.

Su Xiao moved towards the ancient hall, with Bubu Wang, eyes filled with curiosity, observing the surroundings.

At that moment, a signal flare shot into the sky from within the forest, and a dense swarm of undead soldiers surged forward from all directions.

Seeing this, Su Xiao and Bubu Wang quickened their pace, dashing towards the ancient hall. Soon, they reached the hall’s entrance, where the lower half of the door was already shattered, allowing Su Xiao to rush in directly.

Standing behind the half-broken stone door, Su Xiao looked out towards the forest; it was teeming with undead soldiers.

Blocked by the Thunder Attribute Blue Steel Shadow energy, they stopped as though realizing it was taboo territory.

The undead soldiers parted, making way for a bare-chested, heavily scarred member of the Undead Clan who stepped forward, staring at Su Xiao from afar.

"Annihilator, this is where you will meet your end."

The shirtless undead spoke before glancing at Su Xiao and retreating into the crowd of soldiers.

"To hold out this long before being exposed is a pleasant surprise."

Su Xiao removed a metallic pin from his collar, which emitted a wisp of smoke; it was a high-tech device capable of altering the appearance of abilities for a period. It was merchandise he obtained while trading with the Mechanical Girl, used to offset the price difference.

This item had been lying in his storage space for a long time. Before being besieged by the undead army, Su Xiao used it to modify his ability’s appearance, akin to a holographic projector.

The undead soldiers evidently had not seen this high-tech before, compounded by Su Xiao’s deliberate concealment, which kept them from recognizing his identity as the Shadow of Annihilation Law.

If his identity as the Shadow had been revealed, all his previous plans would have been for naught.

Currently, the undead army had Su Xiao completely surrounded, but he was already within the Relic of the Annihilation Law. The Undead Clan’s intent is clear: they wish to trap Su Xiao here because they do not believe he can survive without eating or drinking indefinitely.

Su Xiao’s objective was simply to enter the Relic; after that, they could do as they pleased.

Once confident that the Undead could not enter the relic, Su Xiao turned and proceeded into the ancient hall.

The hall was spacious, largely empty except for numerous stone sculptures, most of which were fragmented, with only a few still standing.

Halting before one sculpture, Su Xiao noticed the inscription below.

’Marvin Hwaltz.’

’Devil-eating Shadow.’

’Core of Devour Transformer.’

’Developer of Absolute Demon Physique.’

’Died in the Cataclysmic War.’

’Guarded element balance 247 times, averting the collapse of 37 planets.’

’Slaughter is evil, even when it saves more lives. Perhaps we truly went mad, or perhaps not——Marvin Hwaltz.’

...

Su Xiao had encountered the remaining consciousness of Marvin Hwaltz before; many of his abilities were learned from him, although they were not in a master-apprentice relationship.

The impression Marvin Hwaltz left on Su Xiao was dubious, as his poor memory led to each learning experience being painfully excruciating for Su Xiao.

Next to Marvin Hwaltz’s sculpture stood a half-collapsed statue of a female figure, with the inscription below.

’Gillian Green.’

’Soul-Cutting Shadow.’

’Developer of the Supreme Blade.’

’Died in the Cataclysmic War.’

’Guarded element balance 427 times, averting the collapse of 58 planets.’

’Do not touch my sculpture! Or prepare to be sliced down——Gillian Green.’

...

Su Xiao shook his head; it seemed like an audio message, revealing the surprisingly harsh nature of the female Shadow of Annihilation Law of the past.
