Chapter 83: Snowbeard
"How much deeper are we going?" Caelum asked while observing the frozen tunnels stretching endlessly ahead of them.
"Not much farther," Bonjour replied, they were sitting atop the shoulder of a massive Yeti carrying them through the mountain passageways.
"Young Yetis can get sunburned if they stay outside too long during hot days, their skin gets sensitive sometimes."
Caelum looked at him strangely.
That information felt completely useless in the current situation.
At the moment, the two of them were being transported toward the homeland of the Yetis hidden deep within the snowy mountains.
After traveling for quite some time, Caelum finally saw the settlement itself.
The inside of the mountain had been entirely hollowed out, creating an enormous underground world made of snow and ice.
Countless igloo-like structures were spread throughout the massive cavern while Yetis of various sizes wandered everywhere.
Some carried frozen beasts over their shoulders, while smaller Yetis rolled through the snow or played around recklessly.
The atmosphere strangely resembled a normal village despite being inhabited entirely by giant intelligent beasts.
"You little troublemakers, the Great Shaman has already arrived here, so we’re heading there immediately." the Yeti carrying them muttered.
Then the Yeti grabbed Big Ice by the neck as the little Yeti was trying to sneak away.
"And Little Ice, stop trying to run."
Big Ice immediately stopped struggling and looked away innocently.
Eventually, the group arrived at a far more secluded ice structure located deeper inside the Yeti settlement.
Unlike the lively atmosphere outside, this place felt serious and quiet.
The moment Bonjour entered the structure, his eyes brightened.
"Great Shaman Korga!" he shouted.
A familiar barbarian stood inside the room.
Compared to ordinary adult barbarians, Korga possessed a noticeably smaller build and yellowish hair, though the most striking thing about him was the absurd number of artifacts hanging from his body.
Rings, necklaces, charms, beast bones, bracelets...
It almost looked as though he had robbed a treasury.
The moment Korga saw Bonjour, his face darkened instantly.
"Bonjour, you little shit! Where the hell have you been?!"
Without hesitation, he immediately grabbed Bonjour by the neck and started strangling him violently.
Meanwhile, Caelum’s attention shifted toward another figure seated deeper within the structure.
A gigantic muscular Yeti sat there in meditation with a thick lion-like mane surrounding his neck and shoulders.
Even while remaining perfectly still, the pressure radiating from him naturally made the surroundings feel heavier.
And exactly as Caelum expected, he could not sense anything from him at all. freewёbnoνel.com
This was the strongest Yeti of this region – Snowbeard.
Snowbeard slowly opened his eyes before looking toward Big Ice while signaling the surrounding Yetis to leave the room.
Then his deep voice echoed throughout the structure.
"How pathetic."
Big Ice immediately stiffened.
"You were captured by unknown enemies, yet you dared return alive without killing them." he said coldly as his piercing gaze narrowed further.
"And during your training, you once again ran away from home, do you actually wish to succeed me or not?"
Big Ice visibly trembled under the pressure.
Ever since childhood, he had always feared his father, so not wasting any more time, Big Ice used his ultimate trump card.
"I’LL TELL MOM YOU SCOLDED ME!"
Snowbeard instantly froze.
The terrifying atmosphere surrounding him weakened slightly.
Clearly, that statement had dealt critical damage.
In truth, Snowbeard genuinely loved his children deeply.
And he also understood that Big Ice, being both the youngest and weakest among them, realistically could never inherit his position.
Unfortunately, that was also why Big Ice had been excessively spoiled by his mother ever since birth, eventually leading to his habit of constantly running away from home.
It was even related to how he first met Bonjour.
Snowbeard stared silently at Big Ice for several long moments.
Honestly, he wanted to beat some sense into him.
However, unlike his other children, Big Ice’s body remained too fragile.
If Snowbeard disciplined him the same way he trained the others, the little Yeti would probably end up in bed for months.
Thus, he had never truly resorted to force with him before.
Then Snowbeard’s attention shifted toward Korga.
"Shaman, do you sense it as well?"
Snowbeard had already noticed something unusual about Big Ice from the moment he arrived. He then closed his eyes briefly as though mentally communicating with someone.
However, the instant he opened them again.
BOOOOM!
Terrifying pressure erupted from Snowbeard’s body.
The ice structure cracked while numerous Yetis outside suddenly became alarmed.
"Shaman, why am I hearing that certain barbarians kidnapped my child?" Snowbeard said coldly.
His voice carried unmistakable anger.
The Yetis and Barbarians maintained peaceful relations and were even considered friends which made this entire incident deeply unacceptable.
"Calm down first... please calm down," Korga replied while visibly sweating.
Although Yetis often appeared calm and straightforward, they were terrifying creatures once angered.
"Nobody intended real harm toward him," Korga explained quickly.
Then he mentally transmitted another sentence directly toward Snowbeard.
’These two children somehow returned from the Forbidden Zone of Old Ice.’
"What?!" For the first time, genuine shock appeared on the face of Snowbeard.
"How is that even possible?!"
Only now did he carefully observe Caelum.
His senses swept across the human child repeatedly while searching for hidden abnormalities or traces of corruption.
However, he found nothing unusual.
Finally, Snowbeard spoke directly.
"Human child, you have my gratitude for helping my son." he said calmly, though the pressure behind his words clearly allowed no refusal.
Then his gaze sharpened slightly.
"Now explain exactly what happened there."
Caelum immediately entered storytelling mode.
After all, he had recently accumulated considerable experience when it came to narrating suspicious situations with confidence.
"Alright... so after falling from the sky, Bonjour and I discovered a Yeti imprisoned there, both of us immediately felt righteous anger and decided to rescue Big–" Caelum began seriously.
"Wait! What happened before that?" Snowbeard interrupted instantly.
"Uh..." Caelum paused.
"Alright then, originally Bonjour attempted to summon Big Ice–"
"Big Ice who?" Snowbeard interrupted again to which Caelum only blinked in confusion.
"I thought that was your child’s name?"
Snowbeard narrowed his eyes suspiciously.
"Human child, do you think I cannot recognize my own children?"
At that moment, Caelum genuinely felt that everyone here somehow operated on entirely different logic.
Then Big Ice loudly yelled from nearby. frёewebnoѵel.ƈo๓
"Father! It’s me! I’m Big Ice!"
Snowbeard only looked more confused.
"But aren’t you Little Ice?"
He frowned deeply.
"When exactly did you become Big Ice?"
Clearly, Snowbeard genuinely could not comprehend why children these days randomly changed their names.
Finally, Caelum sighed.
"Sigh... I understand, let me start from the very beginning." he muttered tiredly.
And thus, a very long story followed.
Occasionally interrupted by Bonjour.
Repeatedly interrupted by Snowbeard.
And listened to with great curiosity by Great Shaman Korga, Big Ice and some Yeti’s outside who had great hearing.
