Chapter 7: Learn more about the world
They finally left Isadora’s office in a still slightly strange atmosphere, as if part of the conversation had lingered in the air.
In the mansion’s hallway, Elena took the lead.
Elena smiled slightly.
"You haven’t seen anything of the city yet."
A short time later, they left the mansion.
The streets of Valoria were bustling, clean, and organized.
Adam quickly surveyed the buildings.
"It’s very structured..."
Elena nodded.
"Valoria is a trading and military duchy. Everything is designed for the flow of goods and security."
As they walked on, they passed several large buildings with prominent signs.
Adam pointed.
"And these?"
Lyriana replied,
"Guilds."
They passed several of them.
"Merchant Guild. Adventurers’ Guild. Alchemists’ Guild." "The blacksmiths’ guild... and other specialized guilds." Adam watched for a long time.
"So everything is organized by trade."
"Exactly," Elena confirmed.
They started at the market.
The stalls were numerous, filled with a variety of goods: food, tools, fabrics, simple potions.
Adam quickly bought several sets of good-quality clothing, as well as nightclothes and underwear.
Elena raised an eyebrow.
"You go straight for quality."
"I have enough money to avoid future problems," he replied simply.
Lyriana added,
"That’s sound reasoning." They continued with essential items: towels, soap, and other hygiene products.
After the market, they ate at small street stalls.
Adam discovered simple but tasty dishes, unlike anything he had ever tasted before. Then they visited a public library.
The place was quiet, filled with massive bookshelves.
Adam bought several books: history of the kingdom, geography, political system, races of the world, and a general work on magic.
Elena watched him stack the books.
"Do you plan to read them all?"
"I need to understand this world."
Lyriana nodded.
"That’s the best approach."
Later, they settled into a café.
A small terrace overlooked a bustling street.
Adam ordered some drinks, then opened his books.
As he read, he occasionally asked questions.
"So the guilds also control the contracts?"
"Yes," Elena replied.
"And all the monster cores are classified?"
"Exactly." Lyriana sometimes filled in the gaps with precise explanations, especially regarding military or magical aspects.
Meanwhile, the two women discussed their duties, reports to send, and city tasks.
Adam, for his part, turned the pages slowly, absorbing every bit of information.
This world was far more complex than he had imagined.
But also far more structured.
And the more he learned...
the more he understood that he had only scratched the surface of something much larger. Furthermore, he learned why he was looked at, just like Elena, his mother, and Lyriana.
In this world, men have no sexual desire; they only make love to have babies. Their penises are small, even tiny, and their stamina is almost nonexistent. The most enduring can do it once a day; others need more time to recover, and it doesn’t last more than two minutes for the best performers.
For women, it’s the opposite. They have a great sexual desire and more abundant stamina. Most are bisexual out of necessity. Apparently, not all men can satisfy them, so they turn to what’s left: other women or toys that are quite popular. And I’ve noticed that buying them isn’t embarrassing either; they even talk amongst themselves about their favorites and sometimes even exchange them.
Another thing I learned is that men have multiple partners because of the shortage of men compared to women, and that marriages are insistent in this world. It’s more like two people agree to have a baby, and custody is given to the mother; the father is like a benevolent servant.
There are even women who pay to have babies, and because of the mana that protects the genes, incest is normal here, especially since your great-grandmother can look like she’s in her thirties.
And the semblance of a couple I found is between two women or several women at the same time, even within a mother-daughter family, or even across several generations. No wonder, now I understand the closeness between Elena and Lyriana. I bet they’re together, and even Isadora’s strange reaction when she learned my statistics—she asked her daughter directly to tell her if she confirmed them.
And I also know what she wants to know, but I’m not going to feel sorry for them. The women I’ve met so far are all beautiful and well-groomed. Plus, I’ve noticed they all have beautiful figures, large breasts, and wide hips—my favorite type.
It’s like I’ve found myself in a world with tons of MILFs of all races who are just waiting for me. What’s more, I have almost no competition, which means I can have the one I want.
Before reincarnation, I was too busy and had no life outside of work. Until I died, I remained a virgin. And now I have a second chance. This time, I’m going to live life to the fullest. Plus, I have a cheat to help me.
Before, when I read novels where the protagonist remains unmoved by women who practically throw themselves at him, I think he’s an idiot and that if I were in his place, I wouldn’t hold back. And now I have this opportunity.
I’m holding back from bursting out laughing in front of the girls; they’ll think I’m crazy otherwise.
After nearly After an hour, he finally closed the last book.
"I’m finished." The two women looked at him.
"Already?"
"Yes."
Elena looked at the stack of books.
Then at Adam.
Then at the books.
"You read all of this?"
"Yes."
"All of it?"
"Yes." This time even Lyriana seemed surprised.
"That’s absurd."
Adam simply shrugged.
"I remember what I read easily."
The two women exchanged a glance.
Another strange thing.
Just one more.
Finally, Elena put down her cup.
"Well. I think we’ve seen everything the city has to offer for today." Adam looked out the window.
The sun was already beginning to set.
Without realizing it, they had spent several hours outside.
"Already evening?"
"Almost." They paid the bill and left the café.
The city was still bustling.
But the shops were gradually beginning to close.
Merchants were packing up their stalls.
Adventurers were returning from missions.
The residents were going home.
The orange light of the sun bathed the streets of Valoria.
"It’s beautiful," Adam admitted.
Elena smiled.
"Yes."
They strolled through several districts before heading back toward the noble district.
The manor guards let them in immediately.
"Lady Elena."
"Welcome back."
After crossing the manor’s gardens and corridors, they finally arrived in the residential wing.
"Here’s your room." Elena opened a door.
Adam was speechless for a few seconds.
The room was enormous.
A gigantic bed occupied the center.
A bookcase.
A desk.
A private sitting room.
A bathroom.
And even a balcony.
"Is this a room or a house?" "Elena burst out laughing.
"A guest room in the manor."
"Nobles are truly terrifying."
"I’ll pass on the compliment to my mother."
Adam entered.
"Thank you for today."
"You’re welcome."
Lyriana nodded.
"Get some rest."
"You too."
The two women then left the room.
Adam closed the door.
Then he sighed deeply.
Finally alone.
He immediately took a hot bath.
The water was supplied by a magical core integrated into the manor’s system.
After putting on his new clothes, he lay down on his bed for a few moments.
"What a day..."
City.
Nobility.
Guilds.
Magic.
Monster Cores.
Statuses.
And above all...
The strange reactions of Elena, Lyriana, and Isadora.
"I’m overthinking." He decided to go downstairs for dinner before resting.
After all, Isadora had probably finished her work for the day.
And he still had many questions about this new world.
After changing, Adam left his room and followed the directions he had been given earlier.
The manor was still bustling despite the late hour.
Servants were moving about the corridors.
Squires were finishing their mission reports.
A few officials were still carrying stacks of documents.
"They really do work late here..."
Finally, he arrived in an elegant reception room.
A large table had been set for the evening meal.
Elena was already there.
She raised her hand when she saw him arrive.
"Adam! Here."
"Good evening."
"Are you settled in?" "If all the guest rooms in the duchy are like this, I’ll end up thinking I’ve become a nobleman without even knowing it." Elena burst out laughing.
A few minutes later, Isadora arrived.
Unlike earlier, she was no longer wearing her official duchess attire.
She had replaced it with a simpler but still elegant dress.
"Good evening, everyone."
"Good evening, Mother."
Adam inclined his head slightly.
"Good evening, Your Grace."
To his surprise, Isadora immediately raised a hand.
"No."
Adam blinked.
"No?"
A faint, amused smile appeared on the Duchess’s lips.
"We are not in an audience chamber."
She took her seat at the table before continuing:
"And you are not a subject here requesting a favor."
"I am still a Duchess, though," she added with amusement.
"But tonight, we are simply sharing a meal."
Adam hesitated.
"I’m not sure I understand."
Isadora sighed softly.
"What I’m trying to say is that you can relax."
Then she gave him a warmer smile.
"Adam will call me Isadora." "Adam nearly choked.
"Directly?"
"Directly."
"Without a title?"
"Without a title."
"That sounds dangerous." This time, Elena burst out laughing.
Even Isadora seemed amused.
"I assure you, no one will execute you for this."
"That’s reassuring."
"Furthermore," the duchess continued, "having saved my daughter, I think we can avoid excessive formalities." Adam looked at Elena.
Then at Isadora.
Then at Elena again.
"Okay... Isadora." The duchess smiled immediately.
"That’s better." Then Adam noticed something.
Since she had left her office, Isadora seemed much less intimidating.
Still imposing.
Still charismatic.
But more like a mother than a leader. Elena seemed to be thinking the same thing.
"See? I told you."
"Told you what?"
"That she’s much less frightening outside of work." Isadora raised an eyebrow.
"Really?" Elena coughed.
"Well... most of the time."
"I see." Lyriana, who had just arrived, quietly sat down at the table.
"Personally, I still find her frightening." Silence fell.
Then Isadora smiled at her.
A perfectly calm smile.
Strangely calm.
"Lyriana."
"Yes, Your Grace... Isadora."
"We’ll talk about this later." The dark elf paled slightly.
Adam watched the scene.
Then he turned to Elena.
"In the end, I think you were wrong." "About what?"
"She’s always scary."
This time, the whole table burst into laughter.
The meal continued in a surprisingly relaxed atmosphere.
Adam had expected a strict, formal dinner.
But Isadora seemed to have left her duchess persona at the office.
The conversation quickly turned to the city, its different districts, and the discoveries Adam had made during the day.
"So?" Isadora asked, setting down her cup. "What are your impressions of Valoria?" Adam thought for a few seconds.
"Honestly?"
"Of course."
"It’s much more advanced than I imagined."
A slight smile appeared on the duchess’s lips.
"Because of the running water?"
"Among other things."
Adam nodded.
"I thought I’d be arriving in a classic medieval city."
"And in the end?"
"Ultimately, you have monster nuclei powering magical facilities, maintained roads, public libraries, and several specialized guilds." Elena smiled.
"You seemed particularly interested in the library."
"Obviously." Adam took a sip of tea.
"I learned more today than in the entire previous week."
"That’s to be expected," Isadora replied.
"Knowledge is one of a kingdom’s greatest assets."
The conversation continued for nearly an hour.
They talked about the different guilds.
The monsters in the neighboring regions.
The neighboring duchies.
The trade routes.
Sometimes Adam would ask a question.
Sometimes Isadora would discreetly inquire about his interests.
Without ever being intrusive.
But Adam noticed that she was carefully observing each of his answers. As if she were trying to understand him better.
Finally, the maids cleared away the last of the dishes.
The meal was drawing to a close.
Isadora quietly finished her cup of tea before getting up.
"Unfortunately, my work didn’t end during dinner."
Elena rolled her eyes.
"You’ll still be working until the middle of the night."
"Someone has to manage this duchy."
"You could also get more sleep."
"I get enough sleep."
The two women exchanged a look that clearly indicated they’d had this conversation dozens of times before.
Isadora finally smiled.
Then she looked at Adam.
"I hope you’re happy with your new home at the manor."
"Very well."
"Good."
She inclined her head slightly.
"Consider this your residence for as long as you wish."
"Thank you."
"We’ll talk again tomorrow."
Then she turned to her daughter.
"Elena."
"Yes?"
"Don’t forget what we talked about earlier."
For a split second, Elena blushed slightly.
"I remember."
Lyriana, who had remained relatively silent during the meal, immediately looked up.
"Me too."
The two women exchanged glances.
Then Isadora sighed.
"We’ll discuss it tomorrow."
Adam, who had absolutely no idea what they were talking about, decided not to ask.
Probably to preserve his sanity.
"Good night."
"Good night, Mother."
"Good night, Isadora."
The Duchess seemed to appreciate him using her first name.
A faint smile appeared on her face.
Then she left the living room.
A few moments later, Adam, Elena, and Lyriana also parted ways.
"Get some rest," Elena said.
"After everything that’s happened, you’ve earned it."
"I intend to make the most of it."
Lyriana simply nodded.
"Good night, Adam."
"Good night." They finally parted ways in front of their respective hallways.
Adam returned to his room.
He took a few more minutes to observe his surroundings.
Even after several hours, he found it hard to believe he had such a luxurious room.
A real bed.
A private bathroom.
Quality furniture.
And above all...
Not a single goblin in sight.
"That’s a change."
He undressed.
Turned off the magic lamps.
Then settled comfortably under the covers.
The fatigue accumulated over the past few days was finally starting to catch up with him.
"Tomorrow..."
He would probably explore the city more.
Perhaps join a guild.
Or start gaining some serious experience.
His thoughts were becoming increasingly hazy.
Sleep was approaching. Then suddenly...
Knock. Knock.
Adam opened his eyes.
Someone had just knocked on his door.
At this hour.
Knock. Knock.
The hallway fell silent again.
Adam slowly sat up in bed.

Adam stared at the door.
Then he sighed.
"Obviously..." His first day in Valoria was clearly not going to end as calmly as he had hoped.
