Chapter 106: Lia (2)

Although Adrian had made a lot of assumptions about this ’Earth’ and the magnetic pull, those were all assumptions in the end.

Adrian didn’t know anything for sure.

For the time being, he was stuck with this girl, but he didn’t know how long this was going to be the case. Maybe this error would be fixed in the next moment, and he would return to The Fake. Thus, he was going to gather as much about her as he could before things went back to normal.

And it was also problematic that he wasn’t near fake, and thus his plans had come to a pause. But...

’From what I can infer, things should go back to normal by tomorrow.’

Lia removed her shoes and went straight to the upper floor and entered the room at the corner.

As he entered along with her, the first thing that he noticed was...

’So many calendars...’ freewebnovel.cσ๓

Wall calendars—something that had become outdated in the current age—were hanging on the walls. And there weren’t just one or two; there were almost a dozen of them. It was to the point that one of the walls was entirely covered.

Why had this girl hung so many calendars on the wall?

But he was not given much time to find the answer to that question since the girl threw her backpack on the small bed in the corner and left the room, pulling him along.

The only other detail he had been able to catch in the meantime was that the room had been clean and well-maintained, unlike the rest of the house.

She was still wearing her school uniform. A white shirt and a black skirt with long white socks. She put on her shoes and left the house.

’Where is she going now?’

Reaching the main road, she took another transit bus and, after about half an hour, got off at a stop. Walking for a few more minutes, the place she ultimately arrived at was...

...A hospital.

Adrian’s eyes narrowed.

Several assumptions were already forming in his mind, but he chose to ignore them for now.

Lia went to the hospital reception, and after exchanging a short conversation with the receptionist, she handed her an envelope. It was the same envelope that the woman from the diner had given her.

Lia turned around and began walking away after giving the envelope and exchanging a few words.

But the receptionist suddenly called out to her.

"Mis Lia, wait! I forgot to give you something."

The receptionist rummaged through a drawer and handed her an envelope.

"This letter was addressed to you, but the address on it was of this hospital. We usually discard them in such cases since the letter wasn’t addressed to a patient, but understanding your situation, we made an exception."

Thanking the receptionist, Lia turned around once again. She sat down in a nearby vacant seat and opened the envelope.

Adrian sat right beside her, curious to know the contents of the letter.

’Receiving a letter in this day and age? Unusual...’

Technology had gotten so advanced that physical letters—even for things like job offers—were now a thing of the past.

She unfolded the letter, and he focused his attention on the contents alongside her.

==========

To Lia,

This is your aunt. I would’ve wanted to talk to you on a call about this, but sadly, you currently don’t have a smartphone, so I had to reach out this way.

And I didn’t know where you currently live, so I had to mail it to the hospital. Let’s hope you get it successfully.

So Lia, what I want to tell you is that...

...Your father has passed away.

It was suicide.

I just wanted to tell you this news because you deserve to know.

That was all. I hope you stay well, Lia. We will continue to help you as much as we can.

==========

As he read the letter, he turned to the girl, trying to gauge her reaction.

Her expression was as reserved as ever, and he had not noticed any change. She remained still with her head lowered, her eyes focused on the letter in her hands.

But a few moments later, she folded the letter and put it back inside the envelope. And then...

...she threw the letter into a nearby dustbin.

She started walking again, causing Adrian to be pulled along.

Soon, they were in front of a hospital room. As he entered along with her, he saw a room filled with medical devices around a hospital bed, all connected to the person lying on the bed.

The patient in question was a middle-aged woman with her face covered in bandages, and her right arm was plastered.

It seemed as though this woman had suffered some serious injuries and was thus admitted here for treatment.

’Seeing as this girl is here to visit her, this woman must be someone close and important.’

He looked at the girl’s face, wanting to gauge her reaction once again. But...

...he couldn’t find any change in her expression. She was looking down at the woman lying in the hospital bed with the same reserved expression she’d had since the moment he had seen her.

After staring at the woman for some time, Lia turned around and left the hospital room. After walking for a bit, she stopped and sat down on a vacant seat in the hospital corridor.

She continued sitting there motionlessly in silence.

Adrian was just about to take the seat next to her, but...

...He suddenly froze.

His eyes widened in shock as his heartbeat quickened.

Instinctively, he turned to look behind him.

There was a door to a hospital room right there.

"Ha..."

Adrian had felt a strange sensation from the moment he got here. It was...

’Another pull.’

He was suddenly feeling another magnetic pull, and it was coming from the direction of the hospital room right in front of where the girl, Lia, currently sat.

This pull was slightly weaker than the pull that was keeping him near Lia.

His boy moved on his own as he began walking towards the hospital room. But his steps were forcefully stopped by Lia’s pull. He couldn’t walk a step further.

He reached out his hand towards the door of the hospital room, but he could not reach it.

Standing on that spot, Adrian’s mind was swirling with various kinds of thoughts.

And the cause for it all was obvious.

Someone inside this hospital room also possessed the pull, just like The Fake and the girl, Lia.
