Chapter 481: Chapter 481

Zara Walsh glanced up at Joelle Lawson. She took a sip of her red wine before replying, "As long as everything you told me is true, she won’t run."

Joelle Lawson nodded hurriedly. "It’s all true, Zara. Melody and Nina Summers have a terrible relationship!"

"During the volcanic eruption last year, Nina Summers tricked Melody Summers into going to The Crestview Hotel. To save her own skin, she lured Melody there to become a prostitute. Melody must hate her guts for it!"

"Nina also told me herself that her father used to love her very much, but ever since her mother died, he remarried, had a son, and stopped loving her as much."

Joelle Lawson still remembered Nina’s expression. When she talked about her father remarrying and having a son, the hurt and sorrow were written all over her face. It was obvious she was genuinely heartbroken.

Joelle Lawson had also been abandoned by her father. She knew what that felt like and could understand Nina’s longing for a father’s love.

After seeing Nina Summers arrive at The Summers Villa yesterday, Joelle Lawson told Zara Walsh everything. Upon hearing it, Zara immediately had someone investigate Caleb Summers, and then she devised today’s plan.

Zara Walsh swirled the red wine in her glass and said gravely, "Then there won’t be a problem. She wouldn’t dare betray me, not for the sake of her father’s future..."

Coupled with the bad blood between Nina and Melody Summers, Zara wasn’t the least bit worried that Nina would back out.

At this thought, Zara Walsh looked up at Joelle Lawson and said gravely, "Rest assured, when this is done, you won’t be shorted a single cent of your reward."

Hearing this, Joelle Lawson rubbed her hands together and replied in a fawning tone, "You’re too kind, Zara. I’m already so grateful that you took me in..."

Zara Walsh let out a cold laugh at her words and said no more.

Zara Walsh and Joelle Lawson had met in prison. Zara had been incarcerated for withholding supplies from The Metropolis Residences and happened to be in the same prison as Joelle. They were inmates together for a while.

A few days ago, Zara’s family had paid a hefty sum to bail her out. Coincidentally, Joelle Lawson was also approved for bail because Noelle Quillan had earned credit for assisting the police.

Right in front of the prison gates, Zara overheard Joelle Lawson and Noelle Quillan talking and faintly caught the name "Melody Summers."

Zara was already triggered by the very name "Melody Summers." She stormed over to Joelle Lawson and Noelle Quillan and demanded to know their connection to Melody. After a brief conversation, Zara learned the full extent of their feud with the Summers family.

To plot her revenge against Melody Summers, Zara lied to Noelle Quillan, saying she could arrange a job for Joelle Lawson as a housekeeper.

Noelle Quillan was already worried about making ends meet, so when she heard Zara’s offer, she agreed on the spot and let Zara take Joelle home with her.

Just two days after bringing Joelle Lawson back to her villa, before she had even figured out how to use this pawn to get revenge on Melody Summers, Zara saw Nina Summers waiting at the gate of the Summers Villa.

Leveraging Joelle Lawson’s knowledge of Nina and Melody Summers, Zara devised the plan to frame Melody for theft.

As for Joelle Lawson, she already hated Melody Summers for reporting The Crestview Hotel. It had cost her the chance to live the high life there, leaving her to freeze and starve in prison instead.

On top of that, she had always hated Melody Summers. ’We’re both Adam Lawson’s "daughters,"’ she thought, ’so why does Melody get to live well in a villa while I get thrown in jail?’

The hatred in Joelle Lawson’s heart burned just as fiercely as Zara’s!

Zara wanted revenge on Melody Summers, and Joelle was more than happy to see it happen!

With a common enemy, the two of them hit it off instantly.

As the two women sat in the living room, each lost in her own sinister plotting, the front door suddenly creaked open.

The two in the living room looked toward the sound to see Yuri Walsh walking in.

Zara frowned slightly at the sight of him and turned to Joelle Lawson. "That’s all for now. You’re dismissed."

Joelle Lawson nodded, lowered her head, and quietly returned to the housekeeper’s room.

Yuri Walsh couldn’t help but frown as he watched Joelle Lawson’s retreating figure.

He hesitated for a moment before saying to Zara, "Sis, are you really going to keep that young woman on as a housekeeper? She’s so young, and she just got out of prison. Is it really a good idea to have her in the house...?"

Although Yuri didn’t know why Joelle Lawson had been in prison, he knew it meant she had broken the law, and he was afraid it wasn’t safe to have someone like that in the house. Besides, Joelle was so small and frail; she probably couldn’t even lift a bucket of water. She didn’t seem capable of handling the work of a housekeeper.

Yuri meant well, but his words sounded completely different to Zara.

The words had barely left Yuri’s mouth when Zara nearly crushed the wine glass in her hand.

She snapped her head up to look at Yuri, her eyes wide with disbelief. In a trembling voice, she demanded, "What’s that supposed to mean? Yuri! What do you mean, ’out of prison’? Are you saying you look down on me for being in prison, too?!"

Hearing this, Yuri cursed himself internally. ’This is bad!’

’He never should have mentioned the word "prison" in front of Zara!’

But before he could explain, Zara flew into a rage, shrieking, "I don’t care if other people look down on me, but you too, Yuri?! How could you?! You’re my own brother! Why are you treating me like this?! Why?!"

Yuri rushed forward to grab her arm, soothing her in a low voice. "That’s not what I meant. Sis, please, calm down. It’s my fault... I don’t look down on you. I’m heartbroken that this happened to you... I was just worried that the housekeeper is too young to take proper care of you..."

Yuri continued to soothe her gently for some time before Zara finally calmed down.

Ever since getting out of prison, Zara had put on a nonchalant, carefree front, but inwardly, she was in constant agony.

She still relived her prison life in her dreams—the starvation, the bullying from other inmates. Those painful experiences were a physical torment.

And since her release, her old friends had been avoiding her like the plague. The people who used to fawn over her now pretended they didn’t know her. She was an outcast in high society. This was a psychological torment.

The combination of physical and psychological torment made her feel as though her very soul was being torn apart. She was the prized daughter of the Walsh family, born with a silver spoon in her mouth. When had she ever been so wronged?

’She thought about it constantly. If it weren’t for Melody Summers... if it weren’t for her desire for revenge against Melody Summers, she never would have withheld the supplies from The Metropolis Residences, and she wouldn’t have ended up like this!’

’The score between her and Melody Summers could only be settled by death! She would send Melody Summers to hell!’

「Meanwhile」

Seeing Nina Summers return, Melody Summers finally breathed a sigh of relief.

She looked at Nina and said with a sigh of exasperation, "Where did you run off to? You were gone for so long, I was starting to think you’d gotten lost!"

If the security at The Metropolis Residences wasn’t so good, Melody would have suspected Nina had been kidnapped again!
