Chapter 13: Chapter13-Slaying the Firegod’s Chosen

Upon hearing John speak the Firegod’s true name, the old man was stunned for a moment.

Then, he flew into a towering rage.

"Impudent! Who gave you the audacity to speak the revered name of the great Firegod so casually?"

His gaze became incomparably sinister.

"Brat, I can sense that the fire element within your body is remarkably abundant.

"Hehehe... In a moment, I shall sacrifice you to the great Firegod!"

A look of disgust appeared on John’s face when he heard this.

"The Firegod is every bit as disgusting as ever. Looks like I made the right decision by making him the first god I slaughtered in my previous life!"

The next instant, John exerted the slightest amount of strength.

With his Constitution exceeding ten thousand, the fleshy vines restraining him instantly shattered into pieces.

Before the old man could even react, John had already raised the Flameserpent Ring in his hand and aimed it directly at him.

Boom!

A scorching beam of flame erupted outward.

It struck the old man squarely in the chest, blasting him away in an instant.

A massive hole was blown through the wall, and half of the workshop collapsed with a thunderous crash.

The old man’s body continued flying backward, knocked several dozen meters away as rings of blood mist continuously burst out around him.

When the blood mist and dust finally dispersed, John’s eyes narrowed.

Apart from his clothes having been torn to shreds, the old man was actually completely unharmed.

"Interesting."

John’s gaze flickered.

This was the first time he had encountered someone who could withstand one of his flame beams head-on and emerge entirely unscathed.

"You bastard!"

The old man roared in fury.

His chest suddenly split open, revealing countless constantly proliferating sprouts of flesh within.

In the span of only a few seconds, those fleshy sprouts rapidly expanded into thick, blood-colored tendrils. They lashed outward, wrapping around the deformed villagers nearby.

In only a matter of seconds, those malformed humans were ripped to pieces and swiftly absorbed into the old man’s body.

His figure continuously swelled as large chunks of mangled flesh attached themselves to him.

Before long, a gigantic stitched-together monstrosity appeared before John.

John’s gaze settled upon the monster, and its information instantly appeared before him.

[Old Firegod’s Chosen]

[Skills]: Firegod’s Blessing, Flame Tempest, Cursed Flame

[Talent]: Flameborn Kin — Immune to all fire damage.

...

After seeing the other party’s status panel clearly, John immediately understood.

No wonder his attack had been ineffective.

So this creature possessed immunity to the fire element as well.

"Hehehehe..."

A series of dry, grating chuckles squeezed out from the old man’s throat.

All eight eyes growing from his face simultaneously turned toward John.

"Brat, you actually tried to use fire against me?"

The next instant, vast torrents of blood-red flame suddenly burst out from his body.

A stream of broken muttering escaped from the old man’s throat. freeweɓnovēl.coɱ

"The former Lord’s commission... relocating the castle..."

"Find a way... to return to the empire..."

"We researched... endlessly... always... failing!"

John’s pupils contracted slightly.

As those ravings entered his ears, a large amount of information poured into his mind.

Through the muttering, John learned that before this ratlike cur had become a monster, he had once received a commission from the previous Lord.

That previous Lord was the grandfather of the current Lord—the dead Lord in the Catacombs.

The man had entrusted a group of people with investigating the mystery behind why the castle had been relocated to the wilderness, hoping they could find a way to return it to the empire.

The old man had been one of them.

He was an alchemist who had settled in this place alongside several of his peers and a number of astrologers, devoting themselves entirely to their research.

As their studies progressed, they drew closer and closer to the truth.

However, due to a failed experiment, a strange and horrifying curse suddenly began to spread.

The curse devoured people’s minds and warped their bodies into grotesque, deformed shapes.

The fleshy abominations scattered throughout the village were none other than the scholars who had fallen victim to it.

Out of all those people, only the old man had managed to retain a sliver of his sanity.

Later, as the curse spread faster and faster, it gradually began advancing toward the castle.

To prevent an enormous disaster from brewing, the Lord directly sealed all victims infected by the curse inside this village.

As time passed, the village ultimately became the place now known as Blightwarren.

The old man, who still retained some fragment of his rationality, had been filled with hatred and resentment.

Even so, his thirst for knowledge compelled him to continue his research.

In the end, however, his mind had been invaded by the will of the Firegod, causing his thoughts to descend into chaos.

Under the influence of the Firegod’s will, the old man began targeting the cursed patients within the village, refining them into all kinds of materials and specimens.

His sole purpose was to squeeze the life force out of their bodies and use it as energy for his research.

"Hisss... hisss... hisss!"

The Firegod’s Chosen let out a string of grotesque laughter.

"Fool! You never expected me to be immune to fire elemental damage, did you?"

"Now, let me show you what true fire looks like!"

With a furious roar, its chest suddenly split open, and an enormous fireball began forming within its body.

The fireball shot directly toward John.

In only a brief instant, it completely swallowed his figure.

However, after the flames dispersed, John walked out of them entirely unharmed.

His expression remained calm and indifferent.

"Looks like we’re no different from each other. Your fire is nothing special either."

Provoked by his words, the Firegod’s Chosen instantly lost what little sanity it still possessed to its overwhelming rage.

It let out an enraged roar and charged toward John like a minibus barreling forward at full speed.

Even the ground trembled with each of its footsteps.

John, however, casually walked over to a shattered staircase nearby.

He reached out slightly and directly snapped off a length of iron railing.

Then, exerting his strength, he hurled the iron bar like a javelin straight toward the Firegod’s Chosen.

Empowered by his Constitution of over ten thousand, the iron bar was accelerated to an unbelievable speed. With a piercing whistle, it slammed heavily into the monster’s body and buried itself deep inside.

The Firegod’s Chosen was knocked several steps backward on the spot. It stared in disbelief at the iron bar that had almost completely sunk into its chest.

[-10,886!]

With just a single attack, one-third of its HP had been wiped out!

It reached out, intending to pull the iron bar free.

However, in the very next instant, John’s figure flashed.

In the blink of an eye, he appeared directly in front of it.

The Chosen’s blood-red eyes tightened. It had only just opened its mouth, intending to say something, when a barrage of fists descended upon its head like a violent rainstorm.

John struck again and again, not giving his opponent even the slightest chance to catch its breath.

[-1,580!]

[-1,689!]

[-1,798!]

With the terrifying bonus granted by his Constitution, even ordinary punches could deal over a thousand points of damage.

Coupled with the attack speed boost provided by his Agility of over four thousand, the Chosen’s HP began plummeting at a frightening rate.

At this moment, the Firegod’s Chosen had already gone completely insane.

It simply could not imagine that a character with such terrifying basic attack damage could possibly appear in the Starter Village!

No one could have imagined such a thing!

Seeing its own HP on the verge of being completely emptied, the Firegod’s Chosen finally felt fear.

It hurriedly began begging for mercy.

"Wait! Stop! Don’t kill me!

"I can be useful to you! I can tell you where the Firegod’s inheritance is hidden!

"I can even teach you how to capture the scattered authority of the gods!"

However, John showed absolutely no intention of stopping.

Bang!

With a heavy kick, he directly knocked the Firegod’s Chosen onto the ground.

John slowly drew the longsword from his back.

A cold sneer appeared on his face.

"Do you really think I need any of that from you? How do you think I know Horus in the first place?"

The next instant, his sword moved.

A cold flash of light streaked through the air.

The Firegod’s Chosen’s hideous head instantly flew from its shoulders and crashed onto the ground!
