Chapter 99: Chapter 99: What’s the Deal with Young Master Lu?

Putting aside whether or not Shen Nian and Lu Cheng were intimidating, Director Li Zhe, on the other hand, was genuinely spooked.

After a long moment of silence, he snapped back to his senses at the sound of Lu Cheng’s cough.

"And how may I address you two?"

Li Zhe steadied his nerves before sitting down across from Shen Nian and Lu Cheng. He felt a wave of shame. ’To think that I, the esteemed director of the county’s Education Bureau, was just completely cowed by a single look!’

But for that very reason, Li Zhe felt all the more strongly that these people could not be treated lightly.

"My surname is Lu. This is my wife; she’s from Shuanghe Town in L County."

"Mr. Lu, Mrs. Lu."

Li Zhe committed their names to memory. He’d been the director of the Education Bureau in L County for several years, yet he never knew such influential people existed in his jurisdiction. A fresh wave of shame washed over him.

Even though Shuanghe Town was just an ordinary town in L County, Li Zhe didn’t dare to show the slightest bit of disrespect.

"Mr. Lu, that card from before... would it be possible for me to see it again?"

Li Zhe had only heard the receptionist’s description; he hadn’t seen the card himself. He made the request for two reasons: first, to confirm their identities, and second, because he wanted to see the legendary item with his own eyes.

After all, he had only ever heard of such a card, never seen one in person.

Lu Cheng had given the card to Shen Nian earlier, and she had been holding it ever since. She glanced at Lu Cheng, and after he nodded, she handed the card to Li Zhe.

’Young Master Lu? Is he talking about Lu Cheng?’

Shen Nian looked from Li Zhe to Lu Cheng, her face a picture of confusion.

’Did I hear him right? Or did he just accidentally flip the switch on one of Lu Cheng’s hidden identities?’

’But I’m sure Lu Cheng is from Shuanghe Town in L County. And the Lu Family in town is definitely his family!’

Shen Nian wasn’t a fool. A title like "Young Master Lu" was clearly a term of respect for someone with significant status.

Lu Cheng’s position at his company was certainly impressive, but that shouldn’t have any connection whatsoever to the Education Bureau!

Shen Nian looked at Lu Cheng and nodded. Of course she would wait for his explanation! She was even prepared to accept whatever big surprise he had in store for her!

Only after Shen Nian nodded did Lu Cheng turn back to Li Zhe, who sat across from them.

"It’s no trouble. We came here today because there’s a small matter I’d like to ask for your help with, Director Li."
