"I’ll worry about you." That single sentence instantly scattered all of Shen Nian’s other thoughts.
To think she’d suspected him. As it turned out, Lu Cheng was simply worried about her safety—worried she might run into danger going up the mountain alone!
This man... he always found a way to move her more and more.
"Okay, I promise. From now on, I’ll only go to the back mountain if you’re with me."
Lu Cheng would worry about her, so Shen Nian couldn’t let him get *too* worried. If agreeing to his request would put his mind at ease, then why not?
Nothing else of note happened for the rest of the journey. As the night deepened, the train car grew increasingly quiet.
Shen Nian slept for a while, leaning on Lu Cheng’s shoulder. By the time he woke her, the train had already pulled into the station.
"We’re here already? That was fast!"
With a look of delight, Shen Nian pulled Lu Cheng off the train, showing no sign of fatigue despite having been on the train for a full day and night.
Shen Nian knew, of course, that this was all thanks to Lu Cheng. She had slept for a while on his shoulder, but he... he probably hadn’t slept the entire night.
’In fact, counting last night, that would make it two full nights without sleep.’
"Let’s hurry home. You must be exhausted from the trip. You need to get some proper rest."

’But right now, shouldn’t Qin Xueling and Yin Yang still be at the police station in town?’
"You’ll see in a bit."
After he spoke, Lu Cheng led Shen Nian into a car.
When the two of them got out of the car and saw the building before them, an idea began to form in Shen Nian’s mind.
"The Education Bureau... It couldn’t be..."
’Is it about my report card?’
Lu Cheng had told her to leave the matter of the report card to him. And besides, this seemed to be the only problem of hers that the Education Bureau could solve.
"Yes. Let’s go in."
"Okay."
She didn’t know how Lu Cheng planned to solve the issue of her torn-up report card, but since he was so confident, all she had to do was watch and see how he would manage to get it back for her.
The two had just stepped into the Education Bureau when a receptionist came up to them.
"Can I help you two with something?"
"I’m here to see your director."
"The director?"
The receptionist looked at the pair before her, her brow furrowing slightly. They were a good-looking couple, but their clothes were very plain. ’To just walk in and ask for the director... they’re not here to cause trouble, are they?’
"I’m sorry, our director is a very busy man. Do you have an appointment?"
Shen Nian looked at Lu Cheng with concern. They’d come straight here from the train station; there was no way they could have made an appointment.
Besides, she didn’t even know who the director of the Education Bureau was, let alone how to make an appointment.
Shen Nian had assumed that since this was about her report card, Lu Cheng would seek out the relevant staff member to resolve it. Who would have thought he’d go straight for the highest-ranking official in the entire Education Bureau!
This move of Lu Cheng’s didn’t just surprise the receptionist; even Shen Nian was astonished.
However, that wasn’t what surprised Shen Nian the most. What was even more surprising was what Lu Cheng said next.
"An appointment? No."
