After they finished dinner, Lu Cheng went to return the dishes they had borrowed from the cafeteria.
Lu Cheng had asked Shen Nian if she wanted to go for a walk. However, while pouring him a glass of water just now, she had remembered her space.
She had planted the ginseng in the space but hadn’t been back to check on it yet. She had no idea what it looked like now!
This was the perfect opportunity. While Lu Cheng was out, she could slip into the space for a look, so she declined his offer.
Lu Cheng didn’t think much of it. He just assumed she was tired from the day’s travels, told her to get some rest, and left.
As soon as Lu Cheng closed the door behind him, Shen Nian slipped into the space. ’I saw that he didn’t take his keys,’ she thought. ’So when he gets back, even if I haven’t left the space yet, I’ll still be able to hear him knocking.’
Shen Nian had suspected that the space would change after she planted the ginseng. But even though she was mentally prepared, the changes still astonished her.
The spirit field in the space had expanded again. Moreover, the fruit trees she had transplanted inside, which had only just recently matured, were now laden with fruit.
Each piece of fruit looked much larger than those in the outside world, and their colors were far more vibrant. It was clear they were no ordinary produce. ’I haven’t tasted them yet, but I’m sure they’ll be delicious!’
More importantly, her previous guess had been correct—the house she had been dreaming of within the space had actually appeared!
With the house right there, Shen Nian couldn’t be bothered with the expanded spirit field or the new fruit. She dashed straight to the front door.
The house was a three-story building constructed from pure wood with mortise-and-tenon joints. It had a quaint, classical charm and clearly wasn’t something from this era.
Shen Nian rested her chin in her hand, staring at the building. ’The house is here, but how do I get inside?’
The thought had barely formed in her mind when the front door swung open on its own. Then, a faint, ethereal voice drifted to her ears.
"After so many years, I have finally found you, my successor!"
"Who are you?"
Shen Nian looked around in alarm. Anyone would be startled to suddenly hear a strange voice, especially when there was no one else around!
She had been coming and going from this space for so long, yet she never knew another living being existed here!
"Do not be alarmed, my successor. I am merely a remnant soul, bound to this place by an unfulfilled wish, waiting for the day my successor would appear."
Hearing the voice from the void, Shen Nian was a little stunned. ’A remnant soul? Imprisonment? This sounds like something out of a fantasy novel!’
’Then again,’ she thought, ’I’ve already gone through rebirth. Compared to that, this doesn’t seem so strange.’
"So, when you say successor, you’re referring to me? And who are you? What is the connection between this space, you, and me?"
"Young lady, you certainly have a lot of questions! My time is short, so I can only give you a brief explanation. This space is a supreme treasure I came upon by chance long ago. I call it the Medical God Space, and because of it, I was once known as a Divine Doctor. On the second floor of this house, you will find my life’s work. Since fate has brought us together, I bestow it all upon you, and I hope you will carry on my legacy. The Spiritual Spring Water here can be used in medicine to enhance its efficacy and can also fundamentally restore the human body. Its uses are many, which you can explore on your own in time. The spirit field can be used to grow Spiritual Medicine, and the purer the medicine, the more it will enhance the space’s Spiritual Energy..."
Shen Nian nodded. She could sense the voice from the void growing weaker. Although she had many questions, she knew these were things she could indeed figure out for herself later.
But there was one question only he could answer.
"Senior, if this space belongs to you, why is it in my possession?"
"Your Jade Pendant is the space itself. Your resentment and obsession right before your death triggered the seal I placed on the space long ago. After waiting so many years, I had finally found a successor; I couldn’t just stand by and watch you die. The Time Reversal Technique consumed nearly all of my Soul Power. Fortunately, before my soul dissipates completely, you finally opened the space’s sealed gate, allowing me to meet you before I depart."
