"Then it’s settled. Your big brother and I will be waiting for you in B City, so do your best!"

Lu Cheng glanced at Lu Xinyue. Of course, he didn’t want another person disturbing him and Shen Nian, but since Shen Nian had already said so, ever the doting husband, he would never undermine her.

"With you and Big Brother’s promise, I guarantee I’ll test into a university in B City!"

Sun Yufeng shook her head as she looked at Lu Xinyue. She wasn’t expecting Xinyue to get into a top university, but she was, of course, still happy to see her so motivated.

After dinner, Shen Nian figured that since Sun Yufeng had cooked, she would wash the dishes. She stood up to do so, but Lu Cheng noticed and immediately stopped her.
Lu Cheng remembered Sun Yufeng telling him that during a woman’s time of the month, she shouldn’t eat cold foods and, if possible, avoid touching cold water.
How could he possibly let Shen Nian wash dishes under such circumstances?
"It’s fine, it’s just washing the dishes."
"No."
Just as Shen Nian was about to argue that as the daughter-in-law, she couldn’t just do nothing and leave everything to her mother-in-law, she heard Lu Cheng speak again.
"I’ll do them."
With that, Lu Cheng turned, cleared the dishes from the table, and walked into the kitchen, giving Shen Nian no chance to object.

Shen Nian, Father Lu, Mrs. Lu, and Lu Xinyue—all four of them just stared as Lu Cheng carried the dishes into the kitchen, unable to snap out of their stupor for a long moment.
"My brother... is this the first time he’s ever washed dishes?"
"I think so."
"My brother... he’s not going to break the dishes, is he?"
"You think your brother is like you, breaking dishes just by washing them?"
Shen Nian didn’t say a word, but a warmth spread from her heart through her entire body. ’Lu Cheng is doing something he’s never done before, all for me!’
Back in their room, Shen Nian looked at Lu Cheng and finally said what had been on her mind for a while.
"Lu Cheng, you really don’t have to do everything for me. I’m not that fragile."
"Your condition is special right now. Since I’m here, of course I’m not going to let you overexert yourself or do anything that might harm your health."
"But you’ve never done any of this before!"
"That’s not true."
"Huh? But Mom and Xinyue both said you hadn’t."
"I haven’t, not at home. But after all these years away, this stuff is nothing."

’That’s true,’ she thought. ’When Lu Cheng is on a mission, the conditions must be even harsher. He’s probably dealt with all sorts of situations.’
"For the next few days, just focus on resting at home. Don’t worry about anything else."

"Your health is the most important thing."
"Alright."
