Chapter 47: Chapter 47: She Never Underestimated the Fu Family
Eldest Fu and Second Brother Fu lived right next door to each other.
With such a commotion going on, it wasn’t like the people next door were dead. Of course they knew what was happening.
Besides, the two courtyards were only separated by a wall that wasn’t particularly high, so voices could easily be heard.
"Husband, did you hear that? Fu Mingxue got married! How can we, her aunt and uncle, not go? Come on, let’s go take a look."
Fu Yongcheng nodded. "That’s right. I’m Mingxue’s uncle, after all! I don’t know what’s wrong with Second Sister-in-law, she’s so clueless. My second brother isn’t around, and as Mingxue’s uncle, how can I not be there to help host?"
He got up and headed outside.
Little Aunt Fu, Bian Yuqiao, shot her daughter a look, signaling for her to come along.
Fu Mingya’s face was grim; she didn’t want to go at all.
They were both granddaughters of the Fu family. Fu Mingxue was an only child, and even though she grew up without a father, her mother—that Second Aunt—doted on her.
And her? Hah. It should have been her brother who was sent down to the countryside.
But she was the one who ended up going.
It was all because her parents couldn’t bear to let their precious son suffer, so they forced her to sign up instead.
She had suffered for two years and had only just managed to return to the city—and what was the result? Fu Mingxue had gotten into university.
And that news was less than a day old!
Now Fu Mingxue was married, and to a very capable man at that!
???
’Damn it all, Fu Mingxue—can’t you just give it a rest?’
"What are you standing there gawking for? If Mingxue’s husband is so capable, have him introduce you to someone."
There are plenty of men in the military. It wouldn’t be too much to ask for him to find you a regimental commander or something, right?
Fu Mingya, who had been incredibly frustrated, heard this and her eyes flickered. ’Fine, I’ll go take a look. I have to see just what kind of man Fu Mingxue managed to snag.’
The two families met at the door.
Yan Hongwei and Bian Yuqiao, the two sisters-in-law, exchanged a look. Each had their own schemes, and they both knew it.
And damn, when they all gathered, there was a whole horde of them.
They made for quite the imposing procession.
The neighbors saw the Fu family’s aggressive formation and knew instantly—they were heading to Second Brother Fu’s place to stir up trouble!
And so, this group of eight or nine people arrived at Fu Mingxue’s front door.
"Eldest’s wife, you go knock on the door," Old Mrs. Fu ordered her eldest daughter-in-law.
Yan Hongwei’s expression stiffened.
’Why me? Shouldn’t the third brother’s family be doing this?’
’Whatever. There are so many of us. Surely that psycho Xu Zifeng wouldn’t dare hit someone in front of her new son-in-law?’
With that thought, her apprehension subsided considerably. freewebnøvel.coɱ
She stepped forward and began pounding on the door—
"Open up..."
Just as they were about to start their meal, Mrs. Fu heard Yan Hongwei’s voice. She immediately turned to Qin Wenhao, who was getting up to open the door, and said, "Wenhao, you and Mingxue go ahead and eat. I’ll be right back."
’That damn woman. I must not have hit her hard enough this afternoon. To think she’d still dare to show her face at my door.’
She stormed over to the door, and when she saw the large crowd gathered outside, she couldn’t help but let out a cold laugh. ’So they all came, just as I thought.’
Yan Hongwei had already retreated to the side.
She left the stage for the others to perform—that way, even if Xu Zifeng went ballistic, she wouldn’t be the one to get hit.
"Don’t you all have food to eat at your own homes? Why are you all rushing over here right at dinnertime?" Mrs. Fu’s first words were sharp enough to make a person choke. freewebnøvel.coɱ
She couldn’t help but be furious.
Every single person in this crowd wore a hostile expression; they were all here to cause trouble. ’They just can’t stand to see me and my daughter happy.’
Stung by her words, the expressions of the Fu family members soured.
Old Mrs. Fu was seething with rage.
"Wife of my second son, how dare you speak like that? We are your elders! Even if we did come to your house for a meal, what’s wrong with that?"
"And another thing! Mingxue is my granddaughter! She belongs to the Fu family! How dare you marry her off to some strange man without our permission? Do you have any respect for the Fu family at all?"
