Chapter 1193: Can’t risk a small chance
The Rebornian opposition looked at the wooden medallion with a lot of scrutiny. Instead of the genius Lionheart youngster’s name written on the inside, a demi-human’s name was written in its place.
At first, they were confused. Dragonborn? They’d never heard of such demi-human species. But it was only after a few seconds of recollection did these elites finally place where they’d heard the name ’Jaku’ before.
He was none other than that blue-scaled Komodo-looking demi-human during the tournament!
Jaku was able to achieve a semi-final finish, which was quite impressive, but not enough to make an impression on these elite patriarchs.
However, they did remember that the demi-human was actually from the Reborn company!
"What does this mean, Heavenly Swordmistress?!"
"This is preposterous! This demi-human didn’t do anything impressive during the tournament! I hardly think that a top 4 finish would be enough to be your only student!"
"Eldea, as a Heavenly Knight, you know that you must be impartial when you make your decisions. This impulsive choice seems to be rooted in your bias for the Reborn company!"
Why else would she choose the demi-human, and not the talented Arthur Lionheart who had proven to everyone that he was the most talented Swordsman in the world?
She was only doing this so that she would have reason to put the Order’s vote towards Reborn!
That was clearly personal, not impartial, as what Heavenly Knights should do!
"You know that we can directly report you to the Order for your impartialness for this, right, Swordmistress?"
And to their questions, Eldea simply smiled at them with a little bit of sneer. "Hmph. You know nothing," she said to them. "If you had the guts and the courage to stay behind and protect New Sparta during the attack, then you would have known my reasons."
The Rebornian oppositions all looked at each other, confused. They’d teleported out of New Sparta as soon as the Monsters appeared. They only came back once things had settled.
"Many were witness to a great revelation," Eldea said. "The demi-human possesses the Ancient Roar."
As soon as she said this, everyone gasped. Their breaths were taken right out of their lungs. Even Infernus couldn’t help but be shaken once he heard that. In fact, if the Draconians heard about this, they too would be too surprised to say anything else.
"WHAT?!"
"Surely you jest, Eldea! The Ancient Roar is nothing but a myth and a legend! We can’t even be sure it existed during the Ancient Era!"
Everyone had been searching for a way to regain the Ancient Roar. But throughout the thousand years of history in the world, no one had yet to achieve this.
The Draconians knew about this the most. After all, as descendants of the Mythical Beasts that were said to have had the Ancient Roar, they thought that they were the ones worthy to inherit this power.
They had carefully taken control of their lineage, making sure that their bloodlines had remained pure to ensure the best chances of awakening an Ancient Roar.
Some even said that the Draconian Queen had the highest concentration of lineage that was connected to the Mythical Beasts.
But despite that, despite achieving the highest cultivation in the world, she had not yet been able to inherit this power.
Some Draconians had long accepted the fact that the Ancient Roar would never see the light of day ever again.
But who would have thought that they would reappear here? And from a demi-human, no doubt.
"What proof do you have of this?"
"Heavenly Mistress, this is a matter of global importance. You cannot just simply state that the Ancient Roar had been found and not give any proof!"
Those at the Colosseum could attest to Jaku’s use of the Ancient Roar. Without his power, they wouldn’t have been able to defeat the Monsters so easily, much less survive it.
There were a hundred thousand witnesses to this event. Yet, the ones who could recognize that it was indeed the Ancient Roar could only be counted in one hand.
So, most simply attributed the ’slowness’ caused by the Ancient Roar as something caused by some other magical property.
Because of that, eye-witness wasn’t that useful in this regard.
Eldea knew that. Reborn’s opposition knew that. Eldea knew that Reborn’s opposition would know that.
Which meant that she knew that they would harshly critic her words, asking for a lot of verifications. After all, after saying such an outlandish thought, there were bound to be some questions.
Yet despite that, Eldea looked completely comfortable. Overconfident, even. It was as if she knew that her words could really be verified without any bit of problem.
It was at this point that these Upper Echelon leaders started to sweat. Was this a bluff? Was it not?
Of course, saying that someone awakened the Ancient Roar was too fantastical to believe. However... this was the Reborn company they were talking about. Despite being their opponents, they couldn’t help but admit the fact that this company had always been able to do things that were deemed to be impossible.
The chances of this was, of course, nigh impossible.
But even if there was the smallest bit of chance that Eldea was telling the truth, they couldn’t risk it.
Once again, they all sent furtive looks at one another and talked in private.
"What are we to do?!"
"Just expose their lie! Then, Eldea won’t have any basis for her choice, and she’d be forced to admit that Arthur is actually her student, and force her vote towards us!"
"But... what if she’s telling the truth? If they actually proved that the demi-human awakened the Ancient Roar..." frёeweɓηovel.coɱ
His words didn’t need to be said. The consequences of such a possibility sent a chill down their spines.
Reborn would grow to be an even more terrifying opponent. With the Ancient Roar awakened, this demi-human would command tremendous power over all Maugnetics, basically becoming extremely domineering!
With such power, Reborn could easily ask for alliances with any Conglomerate or Organization, gaining their protection! The Order even looked poised to become their first alliance!
