Chapter 765: A World’s Demise. Part-1.
In the Half-Orc Settlement.
"This is odd... they aren’t injured in any shape or form..."
"Illusions or mental attacks leave mental damage but... their minds are fine, only agitated to the extreme for some reason..."
Lia and Link were both placed on two roughly made beds, and both of them showed no sign of waking up for some reason.
Even Riya, one of the best healers, felt helpless about the situation.
"Uh... if you allow me to... I can try to help."
"I can feel intense mental waves and mental fluctuations going haywire in their sea of consciousness... As a psychic, I should be able to help in this matter."
Yasna, who was now looking in much better shape than her earlier weakened shape, came forward to lend her help.
"You have all helped my people survive a disaster; lending my help to heal your wounds is the least I can do for you..."
Hearing Yasna’s words, Riya felt hesitant.
’Psychic’ was a rare class, and Riya didn’t know what kind of powers this class granted Yasna.
It was possible that Yasna had the power to alter minds and manipulate thoughts.
Riya didn’t want anyone to interfere with Lia and Link’s minds at all.
Yasna was offering help, but Riya had only recently met her, so it was difficult to trust her.
Moreover, Riya didn’t know that Rio could also alter people’s thoughts by manipulating souls; she was worried that if Yasna left some kind of wrong idea in Lia and Link’s mind, no one would even be able to sense it and deal with it.
"Uh... this... I-I can vouch for Link and let you deal with his mind but... I am no position to allow you to interfere with Lia’s mind... only Rio can make the decision for her-"
Before Riya could finish her words, suddenly a commotion happened in the settlement as dozens of half-orcs suddenly collapsed on the ground for some reason, and their bodies started to disappear into dust!
"Wha- what is happening!?"
Yasna looked at the old village chief, who suddenly threw the staff representing the position of the village chief to her and collapsed on the ground!
And right in front of everyone’s eyes, his body turned into dust, completely disappearing from existence!
"I-is it an enemy attack!?"
"But isn’t Rio fighting the enemy!? Is it some other enemy!?"
Just when Yasna and Riya were panicking, an emotionless voice rang out in the tent.
"No need to panic. This isn’t an enemy attack; this is the consequence of having their destiny plundered..."
Riya hurriedly glanced back and noticed that Rio had suddenly appeared beside Lia out of nowhere without them even sensing his arrival.
His ability to suddenly appear and disappear out of nowhere was nothing new to Riya, so she ignored it and focused on what she wanted to ask instead.
"What do you mean by ’The consequence of having their destiny plundered’?"
Rio caressed Lia’s face, causing the frown on her face to ease a bit, and spoke in his usual emotionless tone.
"Just like Lia usually says, everything in the universe is bound to the cosmic order through the help of the strings of destinies."
"All beings and even inanimate objects like stones and sand are also bound by the same strings of destinies. These threads of fate act like an ’anchor’ that keeps you anchored to the universe and its natural world order..."
"If these so-called ’Anchors’ are broken for some reason, you would lose connection to the natural world order and will cease to exist from the universe..."
A look of frustration appeared on Riya’s face as she looked at the dying tribe of half-orcs and asked,
"Why is this even happening?"
To that question, Rio’s reply was simple and straightforward.
"Raika used some forbidden altar and magic similar to Alverto and tried to use Fade as a medium to store all the luck of this planet."
"The main reason why this entire planet is slowly falling apart is also because its ’anchor’ to the universe is broken and this planet doesn’t have much time left before it will fall apart completely..."
"Although my ability to manipulate the strings of destinies is not up to Lia’s level yet, even I can see that staying on this planet is not ideal... the half-orc tribe will have to leave this planet if they want to survive..."
Yasna was stunned speechless after hearing Rio’s words.
She didn’t know who Rio was as she hadn’t met him, but Riya was treating him as her friend, so Yasna didn’t dare to raise any objections, but hearing that her home planet was going to collapse was too disturbing of a news.
"I-is there no way to save this planet and my people?"
At Yasna’s question, Rio shook his head.
"Lia and I can manipulate the strings of destiny to some extent but we are not omnipotent; we cannot create new strings of destiny for you..." fгeewёbnoѵel.cσm
"But of course, I have a way of shifting your people away from this planet. Although most of them will likely die from having their strings of destiny severed, some will survive..."
Before dying, Raika had only managed to absorb only about half of the strings of destinies belonging to the orc tribe; once Riaka died, whatever influence his forbidden magic was holding got broken, and the massacre in the half-orc tribe began.
This was completely irreversible, and even Rio couldn’t reverse such forbidden magic that was created on the basis of sacrificing so much fate and destiny.
"Your name is Yasna, and you have a rare class called ’Psychic,’ right? Treat Link and Lia; I will provide support while Riya keeps their vitals stable."
"Once these two wake up, I will help teleport your people away from this dying planet..."
Rio could actually heal both Lia’s and Link’s minds all by himself with his soul manipulation abilities, but he would rather not show these abilities to anyone as of yet, unless it was really necessary.
Fortunately, there was a ’psychic’ present at the scene; thus, Rio had no need to expose his secrets at the moment.
