Chapter 2372: Chapter 2372: Weeping Bitterly
Long Rui was puzzled at the time, ultimately directing his suspicion towards the internal traitor in the mansion, thinking it must be the Emperor acting on impulse again, sending his informants to search the War Prince’s Mansion, unaware of what they were looking for.
Xuexue stood there like a fool, unmoving, while Zi Xia couldn’t help but shout, "Miss! Miss!"
"Huh?"
"Are we going in to eat or not?"
The Drunken Sky Building was filled with cries, making it impossible to eat in peace.
"No, let’s go back!" Xuexue turned around, but just as she was about to get into the carriage, she heard a mournful wail from inside the building. The sound was familiar to her, and she stopped in her tracks.
"Miss, what’s wrong?" Zi Xia was puzzled as her mistress suddenly froze.
Xuexue looked up at the sky and said, "Forget it, at this Shichen, I’m hungry too. Let’s just eat here."
With that, she turned and strode into the building.
Her change was so sudden that Zi Xia helplessly followed her.
"Great, great, there’s meat to eat." Xiao Jiu chirped overhead, looking jubilant.
"Little glutton," Zi Xia muttered to herself.
Due to the plump and thin men and the homicide that occurred, most of the customers in the building were scared away, leaving plenty of food on the tables.
Seeing this, Xiao Jiu was unabashed, fluttering down to perch on a table, and voraciously began eating the meat, chirping joyfully after a few bites.
Zi Xia couldn’t be bothered with it, as it was more important to follow her mistress. That little glutton, Xiao Jiu, wouldn’t get lost and would find its way back to the War Prince’s Mansion by itself.
"Madam Luo."
Xuexue called out standing in front of the wailing noblewoman.
The noblewoman was crying desperately, holding her daughter, and upon hearing someone call her, she looked up to see it was Xuexue, and her wailing grew louder.
"Princess Consort of War Prince, you’re here, alas, my daughter has been harmed, oh, what will I tell the Eldest Prince when I return!"
So this noblewoman was the Eldest Prince’s woman. She started as a chambermaid and, after having a son, couldn’t become an Imperial Concubine due to her low status, so the Emperor granted her the title of Madam.
The little girl lying on the ground was ashen-faced, with blood around the back of her head, clearly from an external injury.
Xuexue crouched down and carefully examined her, discovering that although the girl wasn’t breathing, on closer observation, there was a heartbeat.
"Madam Luo, don’t worry, I believe your daughter can be saved."
"Really, Princess Consort of War Prince, please don’t deceive me!"
Xuexue nodded and said, "It’s true, everyone step aside, don’t crowd around here."
The crowd was too dense, hindering airflow, which wasn’t good for the little girl. Besides, she was unconscious and needed fresh air even more.
Madam Luo cried like a rain-soaked pear blossom, her exquisite makeup a mess, turning her into a painted cat, looking completely different from the proud woman who entered the restaurant earlier.
Xuexue instructed the Shopkeeper to bring gauze, first helping the little girl bandage her wound, then took out silver needles, pricking a few on her body, and pressed on her chest a few times firmly.
The little girl’s complexion slowly regained its rosiness, and her breathing returned.
Seeing this, Madam Luo couldn’t help but weep in joy once again; she thought her daughter was dead, and in her extreme despair, she came back to life, causing her to cry tears of joy.
