Mu Qiancheng looked at Jiang Xue’s reluctance and didn’t say anything more, but slowed his pace to accompany Jiang Xue at the back.
Seeing that she and Mu Qiancheng had fallen behind, Jiang Xue immediately began using her Spiritual Power secretly. This sped up her steps significantly and she didn’t feel as tired.
So, she said to Mu Qiancheng, "Qian Cheng, I’m fine, let’s walk a bit faster."
"Really okay?" Mu Qiancheng looked at Jiang Xue doubtfully. She had just been walking so slowly and seemed to be struggling, yet now she seemed completely invigorated, as if she had been given a jolt of energy.
"I’m fine!" Jiang Xue waved a hand and said, "Let’s hurry and catch up with them; otherwise, it won’t look good if we keep lagging behind."
"Alright, I’ll follow your lead." Mu Qiancheng said as he hastened his steps. He deliberately took big and quick strides to see if Jiang Xue could keep up. Surprisingly, whether he walked fast or slow, with large or small steps, Jiang Xue could keep pace with him.
This made Mu Qiancheng feel reassured, yet also puzzled. However, he didn’t ask further. He had always known his young wife harbored secrets. Of course, he already knew about the space-related matters.
As for other secrets, as long as Jiang Xue didn’t mention them, he naturally wouldn’t ask. He believed that when the time was right, Jiang Xue would definitely tell him and not hide any longer.
The couple quickly caught up with the group and quietly followed at the back, making their way towards the camp. Mu Qiancheng’s camp was relatively far; reportedly, it was thirty kilometers away from the landslide site.
Previously, they had run there, and it took them an hour. Now that the task was completed, there was no need to run back. Still, their pace was not slow, and it took them about an hour and a half to return to camp.
Upon returning to camp, the team leader went to report to the superiors, and considering Jiang Xue’s arrival, Mu Qiancheng also planned to speak with the higher-ups.
Currently, they were sharing tents, and Jiang Xue certainly couldn’t stay with them. Mu Qiancheng intended to request a separate tent just for him and Jiang Xue; otherwise, Jiang Xue would have to be sent to stay with the other female members.
Fortunately, there were still tents available. After Mu Qiancheng explained the situation to the leaders, they immediately agreed. Thus, Mu Qiancheng collected a tent and set it up a few meters away from the men’s tents.
Upon hearing that Mu Qiancheng had managed to arrange for another tent, Gong Bei came over to help. The two of them quickly set it up together.
"Xue’er, come in, it’s ready," Mu Qiancheng called to Jiang Xue to enter the tent while he and Gong Bei took the tools back.
After entering the tent, Jiang Xue sat down directly on the simple small bed. Because they were outdoors, the beds were single-sized, so both Jiang Xue and Mu Qiancheng had one each. However, to conveniently sleep together, Mu Qiancheng joined the two beds together.
Even though Jiang Xue had used her Spiritual Power, she was already exhausted after walking such a long distance. Therefore, by the time Mu Qiancheng returned, Jiang Xue had already fallen asleep on the bed.
Watching Jiang Xue’s peaceful sleeping face, Mu Qiancheng’s heart was filled with tenderness. He gently took a blanket from the side and covered her, then sat down beside her.
Because the road clearance task was completed, they hadn’t received any further assignments, making it a good opportunity to rest.
But Jiang Xue slept for half an hour. When she woke up and saw Mu Qiancheng sitting at the bedside, she smiled warmly and asked, "Qian Cheng, how long did I sleep?"
