Chapter 131: Chapter 131: Progress on the Safety Protocol and Insurance
Unsure of the relationship between Xu Chenxi and Wu Yun, the driver, Old Wang, still opened the trunk to help with her suitcase.
Seeing a bellboy come to help, he stepped back and waited. Once the bellboy had the suitcase, he closed the trunk.
Wu Yun suddenly remembered something he had forgotten to say. "Xu Chenxi, I booked the room using your phone number. Go on up, drop off your luggage, and get some rest. I’ll come get you after I finish up at the company."
Xu Chenxi smiled and nodded, then followed the bellboy through the main doors.
"Let’s go! To the office."
Xu Chenxi took the suitcase from the bellboy and, in a rare splurge, pulled out two hundred in cash as a tip.
The bellboy’s profuse thanks greatly satisfied her vanity.
She then walked over to the front desk to check in.
"Good afternoon, ma’am! Welcome to the Hilton Garden Inn. Do you have a reservation?" the receptionist asked, standing with a smile.
"Yes, I do. The name is Xu Chenxi, and the phone number is 159..." Xu Chenxi stated her information as she pulled her ID card from her purse.
Her work had her flying all over the country, so she was in and out of hotels as often as her own home.
Although her company provided a dorm, she would still make plans with colleagues to go out and explore whenever she arrived in a new city.
"Hello, ma’am! The reservation is for one of our executive suites. I’ll just need your ID card to complete the registration."
The receptionist took Xu Chenxi’s ID with both hands and began to process the check-in.
Xu Chenxi was rather surprised. She hadn’t expected Young Master Wu to book an executive suite for her just like that.
She glanced at the photos and prices scrolling across the screen on the wall.
She was eager to see just what a two-thousand-yuan suite looked like.
She and her colleagues often stayed in luxury hotels like this one, but they would book a standard double room, and the cost per person would end up being about the same as a regular business hotel.
Xu Chenxi took back her room key and ID and, following the receptionist’s directions, headed for the elevators.
She faintly overheard a guy in the line behind her asking how much an executive suite cost.
She pushed open the door and inserted the key card into the slot.
Warm lights instantly illuminated the living room.
The homey décor made Xu Chenxi feel a sense of warmth.
The only drawback was that the surrounding liquor and storage cabinets were empty, which detracted a little from the homey atmosphere.
Xu Chenxi let out a happy shriek and threw herself onto the sofa. For a brief moment, her figure was tantalizingly revealed, though there was no one there to appreciate the view.
"Hey, girls! Check out the hotel I’m staying in tonight!~"
....
Wu Yun walked into the office, nodding at the receptionist who greeted him before heading straight for General Manager Li Qiuliang’s office.
Wu Yun knocked, then opened the door and walked in.
"Well, well! President Wu, to what do we owe the pleasure? How was your trip?" Li Qiuliang chuckled, getting up from his chair and leading Wu Yun to the sofa.
’It was true, too. Wu Yun claimed he was going to inspect the branch offices, but the time he spent at both of them combined didn’t even add up to a full day.’
’But that was a privilege of Wu Yun’s. For him, Li Qiuliang, having such a hands-off boss was an honor—a painful yet blissful experience.’
Wu Yun casually picked up a fresh teacup from the table, poured himself some water, and said, "I wouldn’t call it a vacation. I just opened two more companies in Modu."
"Oh? If you don’t mind my asking, President Wu, what kind of companies are they?" Li Qiuliang asked, his interest piqued.
"Just an e-commerce company and an entertainment company," Wu Yun said calmly, as if he were talking about buying a couple of loaves of bread.
"President Wu, you’re starting on Nightmare difficulty with those two sectors!" Li Qiuliang knew that both fields already had one or two dominant players and a horde of competitors—nothing like Little Red Car, which was currently in a league of its own.
"It doesn’t matter. Making money with the entertainment company is secondary. The real goal is to pave the way for Qi Fei."
’Li Qiuliang recalled the four beauties who had visited the company together once. The most gorgeous one, he later learned, was an acting student. No wonder!’
Not dwelling on the two new companies, Li Qiuliang continued, "President Wu, we’ve made significant progress on the issues from our last video conference."
Seeing Wu Yun raise his teacup, ready to listen, Li Qiuliang elaborated, "The initial drafts for the safety protocols and the liability agreement have been drawn up. I’ve sent them to the Management team to review and provide feedback."
"There’s been a lot of progress in our talks with insurance companies. We have five interested parties, including Ping An, China Life, and PICC. I’m planning to hold a formal bidding process this time. I’ll have each one submit a custom-tailored proposal, and we’ll evaluate them from there."
"I’ve already had the tender notice posted on the company’s official website, and I’ve hired a professional agency to make sure the process is as fair and impartial as possible."
Wu Yun nodded. "Good. I’ll leave it in your capable hands, President Li. I still have classes to attend, but I’ll try to make it to the bid evaluation meeting if I’m free."
Hearing this, Li Qiuliang grumbled to himself, ’You skipped out on the second day of military training, and *now* you remember you’re a student?’
Out loud, however, he said, "Of course. The bidding opens in a few days. I’ll let you know."
As for the daily metrics, Wu Yun had been following them closely. Overall, the company was showing steady growth, and the development trend was excellent.
The only downside was Little Yellow Car, which was like a fishbone stuck in his throat—a constant, nagging annoyance.
Dai Wei had even paid people to post nasty things about them on Weibo, declaring that Little Yellow Car would be the one laughing in the end.
This reminded Wu Yun of an idea he’d had.
"President Li, the twenty-first of this month will mark one month since Little Red Car’s launch. Before the National Day holiday, I want to hold a monthly review meeting. We need to go over all the data for Little Red Car—profits, expenditures, etc. We’ll analyze any problems we still have and plan the next steps for our development. Please start preparing for it."
Li Qiuliang agreed and jotted down Wu Yun’s instructions in his notebook.
Wu Yun finished his tea in one go, made a bit more small talk with Li Qiuliang, and then stood up to leave.
The driver, Old Wang, took Wu Yun to Shida Garden. Only after dropping him off did he complete his assignment and head back to the company.
After keying in the passcode, Wu Yun pushed open the door to his three-bedroom apartment—an identical unit to the one he’d bought for Wen Meng. Seeing how clean and tidy it was inside, with everything neatly in its place, he couldn’t help but reflect, ’It’s so nice having a woman around the house, as long as she’s neat and hardworking!’
Wu Yun found his slippers and changed into them before walking further into the apartment.
In the master bedroom, Wu Yun found the keys to his Big Black Bull. They were right where he had left them, apparently untouched by Wen Meng.
He found his parking space in the underground garage. The floor was sealed with epoxy, so there was very little dust. Even after sitting for several days, the Big Black Bull was practically spotless.
That saved Wu Yun a trip to the car wash.
The engine ignited, and the roar of the Big Black Bull echoed through the underground garage.
As Wu Yun gripped the steering wheel, that feeling of being one with the machine washed over him again.
’This feeling is still so damn good!’
