Chapter 708: Berserk Human Therapy II

CH708 Berserk Human Therapy II

***

Kavakan had personally tested the durability of the restraint bed beforehand. Since even he had been unable to break it, there was no chance these Class 2 berserk humans would be able to do so either.

Thus, once the vitality-type berserker had been fully restrained, Kavakan connected a feeding tube to its mouth. The apparatus would continuously administer nutrients and sedatives, ensuring the creature remained both alive... and compliant.

Only after everything proceeded without issue did Kavakan finally release a sigh of relief.

He gestured for the other squad members to restrain the remaining two berserk humans as well while he sent out a message through the communication device.

Meanwhile, Eleanore remained occupied with preparing the main treatment theatre.

Just as she completed the setup, a sudden spike of energy erupted from a nearby room. Moments later, Alex stepped out from the Spatial Gate installed within it.

"Why are you here?" Eleanore asked, glancing towards him.

"You didn’t seriously expect me to miss the monumental moment when berserk transformation is cured for the first time, did you?" Alex replied.

"More like you’re here to clean up the mess if something goes wrong," Eleanore retorted flatly.

"Well... that too. We can never be too careful," Alex admitted openly. "But that doesn’t make my earlier statement any less true."

Eleanore nodded slightly.

Truthfully, she welcomed the additional layer of security.

It was not that she lacked confidence in her treatment. However, she also could not completely deny the possibility that something might go wrong during the process.

As Alex had said, they could never be too careful.

The last thing she wanted was to worsen a problem that was already catastrophic enough. But even if the situation spiralled out of control, with the security measures already in place, she believed they would still be capable of containing it.

’Things would be far better if I had access to a proper specialist facility,’ she thought inwardly.

Shaking her head lightly, she resumed the preparatory work she had been carrying out.

Alex simply remained by the side, going so far as to suppress his own presence as much as possible so as not to disturb her concentration.

The true experiment began at sunrise the following day.

This time, Zora also arrived to witness the event firsthand.

Though whether the occasion would prove exciting—or horrifying—remained to be seen.

’I hope it isn’t exciting,’ Alex thought inwardly.

Excitement, after all, usually meant that something had gone horribly wrong.

The treatment process began with the smaller agility-type berserk human.

The subj—no, the patient remained fully sedated as the restraint bed was wheeled into the treatment chamber by several Fury Knights.

Eleanore had prepared a four-part therapy procedure for the operation.

She first unfurled a reusable scroll that she and Alex had created months earlier during their treatment of the BattleBane members underground.

The scroll activated immediately, releasing a compact Grand Formation composed of numerous healing spells intended to safeguard the patient’s life throughout the procedure.

A Fury Knight promptly pushed forward a large transparent rectangular glass chamber towards the epicentre of the formation. Shortly afterwards, a few other knights began pouring purified beast blood into it—beast blood that had been stripped of its genetic materials and refined by AetherKindle’s flames into a potent energy liquid.

Meanwhile, Eleanore approached the berserk human restrained upon the medical bed and injected a potion directly into its body. Afterwards, suppressing her disgust at the creature’s foul breath, she forced open its mouth and shoved an alchemical pill down its throat.

Once that was done, she turned her attention towards the glass chamber, which had by now been completely filled with the purified beast-blood solution.

Opening her satchel, she retrieved a small palm-sized bottle before emptying its contents into the energy liquid.

Five alchemical pills dropped into the chamber. Judging from their colouration and size, they were clearly different from the pill she previously administered to the patient.

The moment the pills dissolved into the liquid, the entire glass chamber began bubbling violently, as though the contents had suddenly reached a furious boil. The reaction only lasted for several seconds before subsiding just as abruptly. ƒreewebɳovel.com

The colour of the energy liquid shifted from its original pale golden hue into a deep crimson shade that resembled blood.

No... perhaps it was even darker than blood itself.

Eleanore gave a short nod towards the Fury Knights.

Two of them immediately dragged the restraint bed towards the glass chamber at the centre of the formation before lifting the patient and throwing it directly into the crimson liquid after fastening a crude breathing mask securely over its face.

The chamber was then sealed shut with a transparent glass lid.

A trace of disappointment flashed through Alex’s eyes.

When Eleanore had requested authorisation to move funds for the commissioning of a glass pod, he had honestly expected something resembling the vertical glass tubes commonly seen in the bio-engineering fiction of his previous life.

To his disappointment, however, Eleanore had opted for the far more practical horizontal chamber design instead.

Once the lid was sealed shut, Eleanore moved towards the control circle connected to the Grand Formation and began setting a series of parameters into it.

Moments later, the formation fully activated, channelling its energy directly into the glass chamber.

Eleanore’s four-part potion-pill-immersion-formation therapy had been meticulously designed not only to cleanse the berserk properties infecting the patient, but also to do so in a way that protected the body throughout the process and gradually restored it to its original human form.

The potion she injected into the patient acted as a stabiliser, shielding the body from the majority of the violent energy backlash that would inevitably occur during the cleansing procedure.

The pill itself served as the true cleansing agent—a specialised alchemical compound crafted specifically to isolate, suppress, and purge the berserk properties embedded within the patient.

Meanwhile, the immersion fluid contained within the glass chamber, together with the Grand Formation, worked in tandem to preserve the patient’s body during the cleansing process before gradually filtering out the extracted berserk contamination.

And if everything proceeded according to plan, the immersion fluid and Grand Formation would slowly reconstruct and restore the patient’s body back to its original human state.

The exact same treatment regimen was simultaneously carried out on the other two berserk variants within separate rooms of the fort.

For some reason, Alex had subconsciously expected the effects of Eleanore’s therapy to be almost instantaneous. Yet, once again, reality failed to align with his expectations.

Even after three full days, nothing appeared to happen within the chambers.

"Are you sure we shouldn’t tell him?" Eleanore asked quietly.

"No, don’t," Zora replied with an amused nod.

A playful smile gradually formed on her face.

Udara, who had also come to witness the monumental event, looked towards Alex with a gaze filled with pity.
