Chapter 1010: Vegetable Leveling

Honestly, Rael thought that the old man saw him, but from the looks of things, he didn’t. There was a thin line between being stupid and blind, and this man was both.

How could he treat himself so badly? Sure, he wanted to tough it out and perhaps get stronger, but where was the effort? Where was the drive? This guy was just waiting around to die.

Rael clicked his tongue and did a more thorough look. William’s eyes were open, but they were dull. He wasn’t able to see anything, because his retinas were burned off somehow.

Then, there was also one more issue at hand. The Demon Core that Lilith supposedly destroyed was still leaking Demonic Mana. Not to mention, everything that mana touched, it turned to mush.

Well, not exactly mush, but soft and liquidy. The mana turned mushy and liquidy, thus making itself much harder to travel throughout his body. At first, it might not have been a big deal, but he had become a vegetable now, so that was that.

What do I do with you, huh? Rael glanced at him, as well as the throne covered in his own blood. It would have been a blessing to just kill him right away, but alas, Rael was done with those kinds of mercy routes, since he had all the power required to fix him.

But in what way could Rael fix him without arousing suspicion? Perhaps fix his Demon Core, or maybe Rael should just go ahead and buy him a bloodline without him noticing? He had the power to do so, and a bloodline that would provide supreme regeneration was definitely within his reach.

He tip-toed around the throne, his mind stirring as he tried to figure out all the ways he could save him. Eventually, he came up with one pretty stupid idea, and if Rael was being honest, he was probably going to get caught by Lilith.

Though this was definitely one of the safest ideas he could come up with, so there was that.

What he wanted to do was simple.

Rael would inject a portion of his mana into William’s body, and since Rael was the Ruler of Reality, he could essentially do whatever he wanted. So he did just that.

Walking up to William from behind, Rael extended his arm, hovering it over William’s head. Then, with a slight whisk of mana, he sent a decent chunk of mana into William’s body. As expected, Rael was a genius, and it worked wonders.

William’s body healed at a rapid rate, closing some wounds and reopening others. But Rael reopened them purposefully, assuring that everything was done properly. After all, the last thing he wanted was a vegetable father-in-law.

Shaking his head inwardly, Rael sped up the process a little. Within just 10 minutes, the healing was done, and William was like a whole different man. Not to mention, all of that was done with Rael’s mana working externally. He could only imagine what would have happened if he had actually infused the mana into his body.

Still, what was done was done. Rael smiled and prepared to leave. Before he could, however, he felt a tremor, forcing him to turn around. On the throne sat William, just this time his mana was all over the place.

Not in a bad way, of course. It was in a way that represented his power and everything else he stood for, perhaps. Not to mention, Rael wasn’t the only one to notice, as a whole horde of demons surrounded the palace.

But even if there was little respect among the demons, all of them had one thing in common. They all respected the throne enough not to break in whenever they pleased. Sure, they would riot, and sure, they would kill everyone on sight... But the throne was sacred. So was the palace.

In contrast, William wasn’t in a state to feel anything of the sort. Instead, Rael watched as William’s instincts overtook his reasoning and began forming a brand new Demon Core in the center of his brain.

Rael was a little surprised by this, since while he didn’t know much about Demon Cores and how they worked, he did know about Mana Cores. He had created a Mana Core inside his brain, and from what he knew about demons and Demonic Mana in general, it was volatile.

So putting something volatile inside his brain seemed like a surefire way to end up in a casket. Regardless, the Demon Core creation continued unbothered, and Rael made sure of it.

But some time down the line, it seemed like someone had snitched to the higher-ups, as in the next instant, Lilith manifested out of thin air, her eyes wide as she couldn’t believe what she was seeing.

In the future, he’d be dead... He was supposed to die in a week, so how was he suddenly so energetic?

She glanced around, trying to spot whoever could have done this... But deep down, she knew there was only one person who could ever be responsible for something this extraordinary. fɾeeweɓnѳveɭ.com

"Rael, are you here?"

Although he was right behind her, he didn’t answer. He felt like if he did, she might accidentally swing her hand and beat the hell out of him — accidentally, of course.

Though, seeing the desperation in her tone and how she was constantly looking around, Rael couldn’t help but inwardly sigh and reveal himself. A faint spark of mana was all it took for her to feel his presence.

And when she turned around, Rael saw tears in the corners of her eyes.

"I’m sorry," he said with a sigh. "I don’t have any excuses for what I did, but I don’t regret doing it. So yeah... I guess what I’m trying to say is I’ll accept whatever punishment you have for me. Or if you choose to hate me instead, I’ll accept that too..."

Obviously, he didn’t want to accept it, but alas, the fate of their relationship rested in Lilith’s hands now.
