Chapter 1004: Weird Dimension
Sigh...
Rael really wasn’t a fan of being apart from someone for so damn long. In fact, he was growing a little homesick, but he felt that if he slacked for even a moment, something bad would happen.
Those were his thoughts for the last two months. Sure, he kept in touch with his wives as well as Nyx and Gaia during that time via messages, but meeting them in person was just too risky.
But after so much waiting, there was finally something. In the corner of the cosmos, Rael spotted a faint crackle of mana. It was there for a fraction of a nanosecond, and yet that was enough for Rael to register it.
He had monitored that place in particular, since he felt like the spots with the least amount of presence would be perfect. After all, any smart individual would think that Rael would be searching in plain sight, when in reality, he had read them like a book.
Seeing that bit of mana, though, Rael didn’t waste any time and manifested his body near it. He stared at the open space and realized that aside from a breeze, there wasn’t much. But then again, why would there be a breeze in space?
With that in mind, he went ahead and extended his arm, grasping reality itself as he pulled it apart, revealing a strange dimension up ahead. It wasn’t anything he had ever seen before, simply because it wasn’t a new Realm or anything of the like.
It was more so... a pocket dimension? That was the best way Rael could explain what he was seeing. There was a small world in front of him, and also a handful of people, all of whom were definitely at the top of the universe.
More importantly, they had some kind of computer in their base of operations, and from the looks of things, its display had Rael’s face on it. He was a little creeped out, to say the least. They were definitely not fans — more like obsessive followers who wanted him dead. Yeah, that was the word.
Rather than killing them outright, though, Rael was more curious about their intentions. Not to mention, if they had access to his location at all times, as well as the locations of everyone else, then just what else did they have?
Also... if this was a large group, then Rael would need to learn how to look into the dimensions of everybody, which would naturally be difficult.
An inventory was also considered a separate dimension, and every single being in existence had one. Considering there were so many beings in just the Towers, Rael already knew that finding something like this would take a very long time. He could freeze the time of everyone and have a look... That seemed the most plausible.
Nodding to himself, Rael glanced over at one of the beings down below. It was a man who looked to be in his late 30s, and when Rael had locked onto him, he disintegrated him in his entirety, killing him instantly.
Afterwards, Rael shifted himself into the form of the man he had just killed, and if that wasn’t enough, he also went ahead and used his Perk to buy the identity of the man he had just killed. He was able to see names by focusing only a little.
And so, when Rael bought his identity and gained his memories, he was met with the realization that this being was extremely old. And yeah... he also had some kind of grudge against people like Rael — the same people who created the Akashic Records and the System.
I wonder...? Do the others know if there are others? Since this guy only knows the twenty or so people here. Aside from that, his life had always been in this place, aside from his initial childhood, Rael thought. He seemed to have been raised on a regular planet that disappeared shortly after he came of age. Does he think one of us did it?
To be fair, Rael wouldn’t discount it, but oh well... He’d much rather get rid of the threat entirely than clear up some shitty misunderstanding. With that in mind, he descended and took the place of the man he had just killed, Michael.
Judging by his memories, Michael’s current goal was to scout the dimension to make sure no one had invaded. Evidently, he had done a pretty shitty job, since Rael was here, but to make sure everything was moving as it should, he continued to scout around, seeing that despite this planet being so small, it had a few cities and houses.
There were even a few dolls that resembled humans, so these guys were definitely a lonely bunch. In that regard, Rael soon met one of the people who had been here already. A man with platinum hair much like Rael’s, but with golden eyes.
He wore a scientist’s robe, and from the looks of things, he was brewing some potions. If Rael recalled correctly, this guy’s name was Gerald, and he was... well, quirky.
"Michael? Didn’t we say that we’re not going to experiment on you today? You can go back now," Gerald said, then paused. "But since you’re here, do you mind if I inject you with some venom? I’m curious what this one does."
Naturally, Michael was some kind of test subject for them. That wasn’t because he was low in Grade or anything. In fact, he was probably one of the five strongest here. The reason he was experimented on was because of his resilience, durability, and most importantly, impressive regeneration.
Rael had that in common with Michael, except Rael’s regeneration was at least a gazillion times better. Still, he hadn’t really come here to do any of that funny stuff. Instead, he gave Gerald a faint smile, and without even giving him time to blink, sliced his entire soul in two, killing him right then and there. frёewebnoѵēl.com
And like before, Rael went ahead and proceeded to absorb his memories. Unlike Michael, though, Gerald did have something.
