Yecheng woke up alone. He sat up and touched the space next to him. He can’t explain what happened to him yesterday but he never thought the night would end up like that. He felt his heart clench when he thought about Eden crying. He never believed in a million years he would ever come to feel anything for anyone romantically and once he did he ruined it. When Eden came back to the wedding banquet his heart skipped a beat and he was hooked. It was like something that had always been there awoken.
He fell for him just like that. When Weilong asked to meet and proposed Eden as one of his concubines he agreed because it was beneficial to him. He now has the army and the minister of officials at his disposal. When Weilong got hurt he didn’t demote him because he would rather have him as the great general than Jingxuan. Weilong and Eden truly care about the kingdom and they’re loyal. He thought the deal they made was perfect and since he and Eden knew where they stood they would just pretend to be together.
He was only planning to sleep next to him and have him leave in the morning but then his feelings changed. He feels this burning fire for him and he had to have him. When Eden snickered at the idea of them sleeping together it hurt him which never happened before. He knows that Eden doesn’t feel the same as him but he thought he might come to feel for him over time. He made the biggest mistake by using Eden’s loyalty to have him.
He used his title as the emperor but he could feel Eden enjoying their time together until the end. He doesn’t know what he did to make him upset like that and it kills him because he can’t fix it. Although he did a lot of things wrong yesterday. Yecheng passed a hand through his hair as he thought of Eden hating him. When Eden became upset he was too surprised to pay close attention, he couldn’t understand how he never noticed how lovely he is.

When he arrived in front of the court the doors were already open. He walked to his seat and smiled at his father. Weilong smiled at his son and felt reassured that he was okay. Even if their wedding is just a deal he doesn’t want the emperor to do anything that might make his son uncomfortable. He’s just glad the emperor doesn’t like gers.
When the emperor entered they all stood up. Yecheng took his seat high on the pedestal. Once he sat all the ministers did. Eden mostly listened to the ministers and chimed in occasionally when he didn’t agree. When Jingxuan spoke he bent his ear.
"Your majesty I believe that we should send the army to the border to send the neighboring kingdom a message. Their theft had no repercussions so why should they stop attacking the villages again? Jingxuan looked at Eden expressionlessly but he was boiling inside. It seems like since Eden married the emperor he believes he is above them. He and all the ministers noticed the way he and his father dress now. Robes like that can’t be made and worn by anyone. Even their aura has changed like they believe they are superior. He was already furious when Weilong came back and he was back to his old self. Actually, he was even better than his old self, this morning he saw him, training soldiers, he was stronger than men 20 years younger than him.

"What about the great general being injured? Letting them get away with that doesn’t it shows weakness? Unless the minister of officials doesn’t care about him."
Eden smirked.
"It would show weakness if they were responsible for the great general’s attack."
Everyone looked at Eden stunned. What is talking about? Is he saying that someone else went after the great general? Jingxuan laughed and said:
"Of course, the minister of officials has a crazy story about how someone from this kingdom tried to have the great general killed. This is ridiculous."
Eden pulled papers from his chest and handed them to the emperor.
Yecheng took it and glimpsed at it with a frown.
"I was able to find the identity of the men responsible for the great general’s attack after he told me all the details. All the men are under arrest and here is their communique with whoever hired them to assassinate the great general. Whoever did it never showed his or her face so the assassins couldn’t help with the identity."
When Yecheng put the letters down in anger they all knew Eden was telling the truth.
Jingxuan looked at Eden differently. It seems like he wants to fight now, he even went as far as to find the men he hired. He didn’t think he would since he married to get the emperor’s protection but he was wrong. Luckily his father comes back today so they can deal with them once and for all.
Eden took back his seat and Yecheng looked at Weilong.
"Great general what do you think should be done concerning the border?"
Weilong stood up and said:
"We already caught all the thieves and talked to the other side to have them punished in our kingdom and they agreed. Just in case a barrier was put with a checkpoint so anyone entering the kingdom will be documented and held responsible if they try anything. I agree with the minister of officials that starting a war over this is a terrible idea."
Yecheng nodded.
"Did you get all you could out of the prisoners?"
"I did."
"Execute them."
"Yes, your majesty."
Weilong looked at Eden then sat.
Eden smiled at him. Yesterday he gave him the list and address of those who tried to kill him so he can interrogate them before court. He knows that his father will be fine when it comes to fighting now that he gave him the elixirs so he wasn’t worried. He knew the assassins didn’t know who hired them but Eden just wanted to kill those who tried to kill his father and show everyone that he is done being passive and he can already see Jingxuan sweating.
He looked at Jingxuan who was already looking at him. His face was red in anger and he looked ready to explode. Eden smiled at him and he looked away furiously.
"Court is adjourned."
Jingxuan looked at the emperor angrily. He has to talk to Xinjie so she can keep her husband under control. Most importantly he knows his father will have the perfect plan to deal with the Suns once and for all.
