Yanzhao stood at the side watching Shangyu fighting for hours. He thought that after some time he would calm down but he only seemed to get angrier. He paused the simulation and Shangyu looked around angrily to see who had stopped his training. He watched as Yanzhao entered. Despite his anger, he decided to use that opportunity to make things right.
"Hey."
"Hi."
"I wanted to talk to you. I feel guilty about what happened."
Shangyu looked down and said:
"I used you to get closer to Eden and I know it was wrong. I could’ve spent the evening with someone sweet but I was obsessed with someone who doesn’t care about me."
Hearing that Yanzhao felt happier than he ever had but he still decided not to show excitement. He took a step closer and asked:
"Are you saying you decided to give up on Eden?"
Shangyu sneered:
"I am. Why would I want to be with someone who looks down on people? No wonder he and Haoxuan ended up together."
Yanzhao couldn’t stop himself from smiling.
"I think that you deserve to be with someone who sees how special and amazing you are."
Shangyu smiled and took a step closer.
"Do you see it?"
Yanzhao felt so happy that he was unable to say any words. He nodded. Shangyu pulled him in his embrace and kissed him. Yanzhao’s heartbeat quickened and he kissed him back. When Shangyu tried to break the kiss Yanzhao held onto him a little longer until he finally pushed him away. He looked at Shangyu with hazy eyes, he looked intoxicated.
"I want them both to die, will you help me?"
Yanzhao nodded.
"I will I’ll do anything for you."
Shangyu smiled, he kissed him again and ordered:
"Think of a plan and let me know."
Yanzhao immediately said:
"I will I promise don’t worry, they’ll be dead by the end of the last trial."
"I know I trust you."
Yanzhao felt so happy that smiling so broadly made his cheeks hurt.
"I have to go."
Yanzhao held his wrist and asked:
"Will you text me?"
Shangyu smiled and said after kissing his cheek.
"Of course, I will."
Shangyu walked out of the simulation room and as soon as he was out of sight he wiped his mouth with disgust. He has never met someone as desperate as Yanzhao, doesn’t he have any pride? He knew he wanted Eden dead and that it would be easy to add Haoxuan to the list. He isn’t counting on him to have Haoxuan killed he’ll do that on his own he just wants to blame it on him at the end. Once he is dead Eden will choose him and they’ll be together. The last trial is in two days then finally he and Eden will be together forever and they’ll get married.
Eden walked to the ship waiting for him in front of the academy. The entered and took a seat in front of his mother. He smiled.
"Hello, Mother how are you?"
Shian smiled.
"Hello, I’m fine what about you?"
"I’m okay."
Shian could see that Eden was nervous.
Once the ship took off he took a seat next to Eden. He asked:
"Do you love him?"
Eden met his mother’s eyes.
"I do and I can’t be without him."
Shian nodded and looked down. He could tell Eden loved him when he saw how angry he was at the ball. Eden is the kind of person who doesn’t show much emotion unless he is deeply affected. He is glad they resolved the issue and are in a committed relationship now.
"I could tell. I like Haoxuan and I can tell how much he loves you and is willing to do anything for you. That’s all I care about, I want someone who would trade his life for yours in a heartbeat and I know he would."
Eden smiled, he knows Gege would. He hugged his mother and he hugged him back. Eden pulled back and asked:
"Do you like Xiaoming?"
Shian looked at Eden stunned. He felt a little worried about how he would react, he’s never shown any interest in anyone since his husband passed and he and Eden were extremely close. He asked:
"Would you be okay if I did?"
Eden looked into his mother’s worried eyes.
He smiled reassuringly. He knows he’s worried about his reaction but he doesn’t have to be. He doesn’t want him to have the same sad ending as the one he had in the original timeline. "I am, I want you to be happy and live your life again. Founding love doesn’t mean you are betraying father, you know that all he ever wanted was for us to be happy. You should follow your heart even if it leads to the king of The Royeax kingdom."
The last sentence was said amusedly. Shian’s eyes moistened and he smiled.
He asked:
"When did you grow up? It seems like just yesterday I was carrying you in my arms."
Eden’s eyes softened, he could tell that his mother was feeling reminiscent and emotional. Shian pulled him in his arms.
When they reached the palace a butler was there waiting for them. They were led to the dining room, Haoxuan and Xiaoming were already sitting around the table. Eden and Shian were about to bow but they both felt a spiritual force stop them. Shian said:
"Hello."
Haoxuan and Xiaoming smiled.
"Hello thank you for coming."
Shian smiled at Xiaoming and said:
"Thank you for inviting us."
Haoxuan patted the seat next to his looking at Eden. He sat next to him and Shian next to the king. Shian was once again surprised that the king hadn’t taken a seat at the head of the table. He could tell that he wanted them to feel comfortable. When food was served Xiaoming asked:
"How is the academy going Eden? Xuan told me you were at the top in the two first trials."
"It’s going well, it was a little hard in the beginning but it’s much better now."
His mother asked:
"What happened?"
"Someone didn’t like that Shangyu was my fiance and kept spreading rumors about me. All the soldiers believed them so they kept their distance except Dawei."
Shian frowned.
"You should’ve told me."
Eden smiled.
"You already have a lot on your plate and dealing with your issues on your own is part of growing up."
Shian smiled, to think that his baby is now an adult is crazy. He knows that he has a good head on his shoulders which makes him happy. Xiaoming said:
"You’re right, it might be hard in the beginning but once you achieve something all on your own you’ll see that time and effort you put in was worth it."
Eden asked:
"Is that what you felt when you first became king?"
"I did, my father had passed and I had no one to teach me. It made me work twice as hard. Even if I wish my father was there I’m glad I did it on my own."
Eden nodded getting a better sense of the king. He asked:
"What do you think about Omegas joining the army?"
"I think that it’s a good thing, I wish it would’ve happened sooner so it wouldn’t be such a rarety even now. That’s why I tasked scientists to find a solution so they wouldn’t have to worry about any Alpha losing control."
Eden was surprised, he didn’t know that Xiaoming was the one who asked for a solution to be found so the Omegas could suspend their heat. The weird thing is that no one knows that the king is responsible for that. Why would he keep it a secret? Shian who was wondering the same asked:
"Why didn’t you tell the kingdom that it was your idea?"
"Because it wasn’t, Xuan and I had thought about it for a long time and decided to put the best mind on it. Even so, it doesn’t matter who it came from as long as the Omegas feel like they have a choice like everyone else."
Eden looked at Haoxuan, he always felt like he was the biggest supporter of Omega’s rights but he had no idea he is the reason he was able to enlist in the army. He kissed him on the cheek and went back to eating. Haoxuan caressed his head his eyes full of love. Their parents looked at them with a smile.
As they talked Xiaoming decided to speak with Shian to get to know him better. He wants to see if he is open, he knows that Shian is aware that he likes him since the ball. He couldn’t stop himself when he looked at him, he has this craving for him like he never felt before. They each shared about their childhood and what they like and dislike. When a strand of hair fell on Shian’s face Xiaoming brushed it out. Shian met his eyes, both their heartbeat was out of control. Xiaoming just wanted to lean closer and kiss him and Shian was well conscious.
Eden pulled Haoxuan’s hand and ordered:

Haoxuan led him around the castle aware that his father wanted a moment of privacy. The second his father laid his eyes on Shian he knew he liked him. He was happy he finally met someone he liked but he was worried about Eden’s reaction, he knows how close he was to his father. He’s reassured to see that he is okay with them being together if this is what they wish.
When they were gone Xiaoming pulled Shian’s chair closer and admitted:
"I haven’t been able to stop thinking about you since the day we met."
Shian felt happy hearing that because that’s how he’s been feeling too. He said:
"I’ve thought about you too."
Xiaoming’s eyes lit up, his happiness was practically palpable. He asked to be sure he wasn’t imagining this because of how much he wanted it:
"Do you like me?"
"I do."
Xiaoming felt his heart beating faster than it ever had. He pulled Shian on his lap and immediately kissed him. Shian kissed him back and circled his neck. They both felt like it was a dream, they never thought they would find someone they would care for but they did and the other feels the same.
Shangyu entered Yanzhao’s office and closed the door. Yanzhao immediately ran to him and kissed him. Shangyu kissed him back a few seconds then asked with a wry smile:
"Why did you want to meet? Didn’t we agree that we should keep this secret until they both die so no one can pin it on us?"
He just wants to keep it secret or Eden will never agree to be with him but like a fool, Yanzhao believes him. Yanzhao said excitedly:
"I know how we’ll be able to kill them tomorrow during the trial."
"How?"
Yanzhao explained:
"Eden found out that The Gathered have a queen they hide. He was able to pinpoint her location based on the information the scouts brought back. He asked Haoxuan to come with him and he agreed. They’ll first gas the tunnels to make sure all the Sokloran-Pans are out so he can kill the queen without anyone getting in his way. He said that he’ll need two more people with him. Haoxuan asked me if I could accompany them and to choose someone else to bring. I recommended you, he first refused but I was able to convince him in the end. With only the four of us underground they’ll have to believe whatever we say once they die."
Shangyu smiled broadly and hugged Yanzhao. He hugged him back feeling beyond happy. Yanzhao asked wanting praise from the man he loves:
"Did I do good?"
"You did perfect baby."
Hearing that Yanzhao was over the moon. Shangyu kissed him passionately but all he could think about was that tomorrow he and Eden will finally be together.
