Chapter 62: Interstellar / 7.11 : A tear in the space-time continuum
"Are you okay?"
Eden looked at Dawei.
"En." ƒгeewёbnovel.com
"You should’ve taken a few days off."
"It wouldn’t have changed anything."
Dawei looked at Eden silently for a few seconds. He put a hand on his shoulder until he looked at him again.
He professed:
"I know that you probably don’t want to talk about this but Qiping told me something and I think you should know."
Eden nodded.
"Haoxuan has never been with anyone or in a relationship before."
Eden looked at him surprised. He’s an Alpha they’re bound to stumble onto an Omega in heat at some point in their life and once they do they can’t resist so usually none of them are virgins and not just for that reason.
"He always believed he would never love anyone so he agreed to marry whoever his father chose. He doesn’t know how to be with someone and he’s always worried you might be with someone who does."
Eden immediately opened Versem and looked in detail at the life he had. As per Haoxuan and his father’s agreement he married the prime minister’s son. Their relationship was more like a partnership and was only consumed to have children. He could tell that Haoxuan loved his children deeply and over time he come to consider his partner as a close friend and family. Eden closed Versem and sighed. When they reached The Military Society they left for their dorm. When Eden was done tidying up he decided to leave for the simulation room but someone knocked on the door.
"Supreme leader would like to see you."
Eden nodded and looked at Dawei. He could tell he was worried, he smiled reassuringly. When he reached Haoxuan’s office he entered without knocking and closed the door behind him. He was standing at the entrance looking at him. Haoxuan came out from behind his desk and hugged him. Eden hugged him back.
"Are you okay?"
Eden pulled back answering:
"I am. He’s been suffering for more than a year now, I want him to find peace."
His great-grandfather had been in a facility for his needs since he had dementia and he passed. In this Era, you can live for more than 400 years and the aging process is slower so it’s already a miracle that he made it this long.
Haoxuan caressed his head.
"I’m sure he did."
Eden nodded then looked away.
"Why did you call me?"
Haoxuan was a little disappointed by that coldness but he knew that it would take some time to have Eden’s forgiveness. He pulled his hand to the couch and sat next to him. He held Eden’s chin and when he met his eyes he said uncomfortably:
"I don’t know how to do this Eden... I don’t know how to do any of this. I’ve never liked someone let alone loved to the point where I would give up everything to be at their side."
Haoxuan explained:
"The chances of you choosing me over Shangyu were already low and I didn’t want to add anything that might lower them. I told my father about you the day of the ball so he can end my engagement or I would know if from that day on you’ll be my only family."
Eden was slightly stunned by that. He saw Haoxuan’s life and he knows how close he and his father are. Eden said looking down:
"I don’t need anything more than the truth even if you find it uncomfortable."
Eden met his eyes.
"This is new to me too. Even if I was engaged, Shangyu and I were nothing more than strangers. I-I’ve never been with anyone before."
Haoxuan’s heart started to beat faster. Not wanting to get his hopes up he asked:
"What about what you said to Shangyu?"
"I didn’t mean it I just want him to pay, Yanzhao too."
"For what?"
Eden told Haoxuan the truth about Yanzhao, he couldn’t explain how Shangyu acted in the original timeline but he didn’t have to. Gege already hates him and trusts Eden and knows he wouldn’t lie. Haoxuan looked like he was ready to explode. Eden straddled him and held his face.
"Let me deal with the situation, if I need you I’ll let you know. Okay?"
Haoxuan just kept looking at Eden furiously without any words. Eden smiled and kissed him. Haoxuan was so stunned that he didn’t move, it was like kissing a statue. Eden pulled back and looked at him discontentedly. He stood up to leave but Haoxuan pulled his wrist to a door in his office.
After entering Haoxuan slammed the door behind them. Eden looked at the room and saw that it was where Gege would sleep when he would have too much work. As soon as Haoxuan kissed him again Eden felt weird. It was as if every atom in his body were being pulled. It felt painful, more than when he was being checked on in Versal.
Haoxuan looked at Eden wide-eyed when he started to gasp in pain.
"Eden?"
Eden pushed him and ran away. He used Versem to make sure no one would find him and hid in a cubby. He felt like screaming but he bit his lip until he finally faded.
When Eden opened his eyes he was on a private plane. He felt no immediate danger so he checked Versem. When he saw what had happened he looked in the distance. How is this possible? How did he end up in another universe like that? He decided to take a deep breath and calm down. The problem is that they’ll all think he’s dead, he needs to get back there somehow before interfering with this world. He tried to go back to Versal but couldn’t.
"Fuck!"
He calmed down again and checked the specs of the universe and was relieved. He closed his eyes and decided to only found out as little as possible to get back to the previous universe.
This Eden is a 17 years old man. In this universe, there used to be magic but over time it disappeared. As it faded away potions, elixirs and talismans became part of everyday life and people depended on them heavily. Those potions were made by alchemists but they were a rarity since it was an extremely hard craft to cultivate. Eden’s grandfather was a gifted alchemist and taught him everything he knew. He had been living with him since he was seven years old when his parents died in a car crash. His grandfather and his childhood friend both built a company related to potions.
His grandfather’s friend had a company that sold ingredients for potions, elixirs, and talismans while Eden’s grandfather made and sold them. He had a laboratory in his company Z Elixir with the best alchemists. Eden would often work there with him since he was in love with the craft as well.
Eden stopped the flow of information. This is more than enough, the less he knows the less disturbance he’ll cause. He’s an Alchemist in this universe meaning he can easily create a portal to another universe. But for that, he needs ingredients and a laboratory.
He grabbed a computer nearby. He made some research after renting a laboratory anonymously. When he was done he closed his computer and decided to sleep so that when he arrive tomorrow morning he won’t be tired. When they landed a car was waiting for him.
Eden got in the car and they departed when all the luggage was in the trunk. He opened the partition giving him an address. Once he did he added:
"Uncle can you come to pick me up at 6 pm please and don’t tell anyone I’m back. You can leave the luggage in the trunk."
"No problem son." freeweɓnovēl.coɱ
Eden smiled at him
When they arrived he waved goodbye and entered the building. He walked to the reception. A woman smiled at him.
"Hello, what can I do for you?"
"I’m here to see Dr.Wu."
The woman made a phone call and a few seconds later a man came in walking fast. He shook Eden’s hand with a smile
"Hello, Mr.Zhen."
"Hello, you can call me Eden."
Dr.Wu smiled and led him to the elevator. Once they reached the top floor there was only a hallway and a door at the end of it. Dr.Wu pulled out a key opened the door and Eden entered. He looked around the spacious laboratory making sure he had everything he needed. He turned around and said:
"I will need more test tubes, beakers, separating tunnels, Buchner flasks, and soxhlet extractors. Five of each."
After Dr.Wu wrote down everything he said.
"I’ll bring it to you right away."
"I have a big delivery it should be here in an hour."
"I’ll make sure it gets to you once it’s here."
Eden smiled.
"Thank you."
"My pleasure."
Eden took a seat at the desk and opened his computer. I need to go back to my universe as soon as possible.
