After hugging his mother goodbye Eden left for The Military Society. He entered his shared dorm room and saw that Dawei was already there.

"Hey, how was your weekend?"
"Good what about yours?"
"Same as always."
Eden nodded, after a couple of seconds he said excitedly:
"Next time we have a free weekend you need to come to my house. My father’s battle simulation room has thousands of different scenarios that he created. Plus my mother wants to meet you."
Dawei was surprised that Eden knew that he hates the lack of diversity when it comes to the scenario in the simulation room. He asked:
"Why does your mother want to meet me?"
Eden smiled.
"Because I told him about you."
Dawei smiled and nodded.
"Okay."
When they were done settling they left for class. Eden was bored, he hates theory. He already knows all of it he’s been in thousands of similar universes. He was more excited when it was time to put that theory to practice. When they entered the training room Eden stood in the front facing Qiping and Yanzhao. Eden smiled sweetly at Yanzhao and he smiled back. Yanzhao knows he has to apologize to Eden and he will, he’ll do whatever he has to do to keep his Colonel title.
Eden looked behind them and saw Haoxuan leaning against the wall his arms crossed. When he looked back at Eden he waved with a smile. Eden’s eyes flashed with amusement when Haoxuan simply nodded at him and then looked away. Even if he didn’t show anything Eden notice how his eyes lit up. Shangyu looked at the scene with narrowed eyes.
After ordering silence Qiping said:
"Find yourself a partner and fight. Every time one of you is subdued by the other start over. Don’t use spiritual power."
Eden turned his head to propose Dawei to be his partner but he looked at Shangyu surprised who had appeared out of nowhere. Shangyu smiled.
"Let’s be partners."
Eden blinked then he nodded.
When Qiping yelled start Eden got in position. Shangyu wasn’t surprised that he had a hard time pinning Eden down. Eden was in a defensive mode while he was on the attack. He easily dodged every one of them. He taunted:
"Come on don’t tell me you’ve never wanted to hit me."
He wants to see Eden’s attack, he can still picture it when he was on planet Vrokkro, and it was amazing. He was fast, swift, and efficient. None of the moves he made were wasted.
When Eden narrowed his eyes at him he got into a defensive mode. Eden managed to hit him twice and skillfully pushed him to the ground. He didn’t lose a second and got on top of him, he pinned his arms to the side of his head. Eden leaned in with a haughty smile and declared:
"I win."
Everyone looked at Eden with an amused smile. Shangyu smiled and said:
"From our position, it seems like I’m the winner."
When Eden realized that he was straddling him he immediately blushed and stood up. Everyone laughed when Eden crossed his arms pouting. Shangyu chuckled and stood up. He caressed Eden’s head with an affectionate smile.
Qiping was looking at the scene smiling while Yanzhao was fuming but they both turned around to look at Haoxuan surprised. When they did they stopped feeling that overbearing spiritual power they had felt before. They let it go and focused on class again.
Two hours later every soldier was laying on the floor exhausted. Qiping said:
"You need to learn to fight without your spiritual power, you can’t be overly dependent on it. You might end up on a planet where you can’t use it or face a race of aliens immune to it."
Everyone made an acknowledgment sound, they were too tired to open their mouth.
Shangyu who was laying next to Eden turned his head and looked at his jade-like profile. He doesn’t understand how he never noticed him until that day in the forest. He felt like his aura was different, stronger and he followed him. Since then he feels differently about himself. Even if they’ve been engaged since they were kids they don’t have any relationship or contact for that matter. They are signed in the same academy but it doesn’t change anything. He knew the same amount about Eden as any other soldier. He had no idea he was homeschooled by his father and that he was traveling with him during his missions. If he did things would’ve been different.
He touched his arm when he noticed a scar going all around his arm. He asked:
"Where did you get this scar?"
Eden turned his head and followed his eyes. He sat up and explained:
"When I was 9 my father had a mission on the planet Ke’sian to save multiple prisoners of war. At the time the planet was overrun by Tamnal and we were ambushed. During the fight, one of them managed to touch me before I killed him and my father had to cut my arm or the poison would’ve spread. He had to cauterize the wound until we went back to the ship 3 days later that’s why I still have the scar."
If someone loses an arm they can have a new one generated in a healing pod, if it’s done immediately they’re no scars and you can’t tell the difference. But because Eden had to wait a couple of days and the wound was cauterized it cicatrized so the scar is still visible. They all thought that he was a spoiled rich Omega but he’s been through more than all of them put together. He’s never taken anything or anyone for granted because he knows what it’s like to fight for people’s lives and your own. They all looked at Eden stunned, when he was 9 years old he was on hostile planets helping people while they were out with their friends having fun.
Shangyu sat up, he can’t believe how little he knew about Eden. When he said that he was going to join the academy he said that it was a bad idea and that he should just be a stay-at-home wife. Now that he knows his past his words were incredibly condescending and insulting. He thought that Eden wanted to sign up in the army to be closer to him but he was wrong. He always believed that someone who isn’t strong enough shouldn’t enter the army period but now he knows that Eden is. He is strong enough to stand at his side, he doesn’t have to wait for him at home. Shangyu caressed his head.
"I’m glad you survived."
His eyes softened when Eden smiled.
Qiping and Yanzhao who were looking at the scene like everyone else immediately turned around when they felt the same spiritual power as earlier but this time it was shockingly destructive. Qiping looked at Haoxuan wide-eyed, he then followed his eyes and they landed on Shangyu. He ran to him and held his face so he would only look at him. He whispered:
"Calm down."
Haoxuan closed his eyes and tried to calm down, he took a deep breath, and his spiritual power rescinded.
Qiping let out a relieved breath, he was grateful it didn’t reach any of the soldiers. He looked toward Shangyu and saw that he was still talking to Eden. He went back in front of the soldiers and ordered: ƒгeewёbnovel.com
"Class is over go shower now!"
Everyone felt the anger in his voice so they quickly left for the shower.
Eden was grateful that Omegas have individual bathrooms. He walked out of the shower and dressed. When he was done he was about to walk out but he took a step backward when someone came in and closed the door behind him. Eden looked at Haoxuan surprised. Haoxuan locked the bathroom and then pushed Eden against the wall, his arms were at the side of his head and he looked ready to explode. Despite that true to himself Haoxuan didn’t show any emotions but his aura was murderous.
Haoxuan asked:
"Why did you join the army?"
"Because I wanted to fight for something bigger than myself."
"Then shouldn’t you focus on classes instead of flirting?"
Eden forced himself not to smile and nodded.
"If you want to fight for something bigger than yourself then start by keeping things professional in class. Do you understand?"
Eden nodded. Despite his answer, Haoxuan looked down defeated.
Eden felt heartbroken when he saw his expression. He freed his hands and held his face. He murmured:
"I’m sorry it won’t happen again."
Haoxuan looked into Eden’s clear eyes and knew he meant it. He asked:
"Why?"
Eden opened his mouth but then closed it. He let go of Haoxuan and looked away uncomfortable. Haoxuan turned his head, he asked again:
"Why?"
Eden met his eyes and admitted:
"Because my heart aches when you’re sad or upset."
Haoxuan felt touched and happy at that confession. He feels this strong connexion to Eden like they’ve known each other forever. He’s glad to know that even if Eden doesn’t feel the same way he isn’t indifferent to him. Haoxuan let go of Eden, he looked down and admitted:
"My heart aches when you’re close to Shangyu."
Eden lifted his face, when he met his eyes he caressed his cheek.
"It won’t happen anymore I promise."
He wants to make Shangyu pay but he doesn’t want to break Gege’s heart either.
He doesn’t need to get closer to Shangyu since their relationship has always been non-existent and now that he is interested in Eden it will drive him insane to be ignored by him.
Haoxuan looked into Eden’s eyes then he pulled him in his arms.
"Thank you."
Eden held onto his waist.
Qiping kept pacing in front of the Omega’s bathroom worried. He saw Haoxuan heading that way upset and he is worried. He didn’t know why he didn’t like Shangyu but now it’s crystal clear. Even if Eden can resist his spiritual power the other Omegas can’t. He should just go in and make sure everything is fine. He opened the door and came face to face with someone. They weren’t just face to face but also lips to lips. They were both so stunned that neither moved and kept kissing.
The other person finally woke up from his stupor and pushed him violently away. He looked at him furiously after wiping his lips. Qiping was shocked, he’s General and the second in command no one dares lay a hand on him let alone push him. But it wasn’t just that Dawei was furious, he felt like his reaction was way more dramatic than it should be. When he thought about the fact that he was about to enter an Omega’s bathroom without knocking and kissed him even if it wasn’t on purpose he believed now that he was under-reacting.
Qiping looked at him apologetically.
"I’m sorry it was an accident."
Dawei was trembling in anger, if Qiping wasn’t his superior he would’ve killed him. He just stole his first kiss, he’s been holding onto it until he meets his mate but Qiping destroyed that. He left not wanting to cry in front of him.
Qiping held his wrist.
"Dawei I’m sorry."
Dawei pulled his hand and yelled before leaving:
"Just stay away from me."
Qiping looked at him go leaving him stupefied. He feels like he’s missing something, it makes him uncomfortable that he upset him so much.
He turned around when he heard footsteps. Haoxuan and Eden walked out.
"What are you doing here?"
QIping looked at Haoxuan and answered:
"Making a mess."
Eden turned around searching for Dawei then he looked at Qiping with narrowed eyes.
"What did you do to Dawei?"
Qiping sighed and passed a hand through his hair.
"Can you go make sure he is okay, please?"
Eden nodded and left.
On the way, he came face to face with Yanzhao. He ignored him and continued but he ran after him.
"Eden, can we talk, please?"
Eden stopped and raised an eyebrow.
"I just wanted to apologize for what happened. Because your spiritual strength grew I thought you had cheated."
"You just made an assumption and you know how dangerous they can be. What if I said Yanzhao lied about how difficult his time in the army as an Omega was and that he doesn’t deserve to be a Colonel?"
Yanzhao’s hands tightened into fists but he calmed down. He just needs to make sure he doesn’t report him to the council. Yeah, he exaggerated his time in the army because it was the best way to become Colonel so what? Plus now every Omega sees him as a hero who faced many hardships to be where he is today.
"You’re right I promise I won’t make that mistake again. I was hoping you would forgive me and let me prove to every Omega that it’s okay to make a mistake even as a Colonel as long as you admit you are wrong and do better."
He looked at Eden stressed and after he few seconds he nodded.
"Fine, I won’t report you to the council and let this whole thing go."
Yanzhao let out a breath.
"Thank you Eden it means a lot."
"It does so don’t forget it."
He forced a smile and looked at Eden leave. Eden’s window to report him to the council is a week so if tomorrow he doesn’t do it he won’t be able to. He’ll play nice until tomorrow then destroy him, he’ll start by making sure he fails the second trial. When he is done with Eden the only thing left will be ashes and Shangyu will finally be his.
