Chapter 251: Heretic / 1.12 : We were never friends
After having dinner in his chambers, Kian opened the door when someone knocked.
"Leader, how are you?"
"I’m well, how are you, Dr. Eben?"
Eben smiled and said:
"I’m okay, sorry I couldn’t come sooner."
"It’s okay, come in."
Eben came in and Kian saw that there was Aurelia behind him. Kian blocked her and said:
"Your help won’t be needed, leave."
After saying that, he slammed the door in her face.
Eben looked at the scene stunned. Kian took a seat and tapped next to him. Eben took a seat next to him and put his medical box on the coffee table. He asked:
"How have you been feeling?"
"Better than I have in a long time since I’ve been drinking blood."
Eben said gravely:
"Leader Kian, blood is only going to make you feel good in the moment, but later on you’ll crash down hard. I told you it was bad for you."
Kian asked:
"Then what should I do to avoid crashing?"
Eben pulled out a vial from his bag and gave it to Kian.
"You need to drink this, it will help relieve the terrible side effects."
Kian took the vial and said:
"Thank you, Dr. Eben, I don’t know what I would’ve done without you."
Eben smiled. Kian waved his hand discretely and then said:
"You were always there for me and I truly appreciate it, I know that you’ve known my mother since she was a baby."
Eben smiled and said:
"She was very proud and stubborn. I always had to trick her into taking her medicine."
"You watched her grow up, and now you’re treating her son."
Eben put a hand on his shoulder and said:
"Of course, Lillian was family and so are you."
Kian smiled gently.
"Yet you’ve been poisoning me for money."
Eben’s face fell.
"What?"
"You heard me, my mother and I are not families to you since you’re willing to betray her and kill me for a lump sum of money."
Eben swallowed and said:
"Leader..."
Kian looked at the vial he had in his hand and said:
"Puppet of mine you will be, as soon as you drink this remedy."
The golden color of the elixir turned red, and Kian handed the vial to Eben with a smile. He ordered:
"Drink it."
Eben’s hand shook as he took the vial. He opened it and said:
"Leader I didn’t want to do this, I swear..."
Kian waved his hand impatiently, and Eben was forced to drink the entire vial. When he was done, Kian put down his hand and looked into his eyes. Eben’s eyes flashed red, then went back to their brown color. Kian smiled maliciously.
Aurelia kept pacing around the room nervously. Cayus said:
"You heard their conversation, Kian trusts him."
Aurelia looked at her husband.
"You’ve seen how impulsive Kian has been lately."
When Aurelia heard a sob, she looked at her daughter. She cried:
"It seems like the cold crown prince wishes he was still engaged to the sweet leader Kian rather than his cousin. There are articles like that everywhere. Everyone kept saying that the two of them should be together instead of Lucian and me."
Aurelia grabbed her daughter’s cell phone and said:
"I told you, I’ll speak to the king and queen. I’ll never accept anyone disrespecting our family."
Serena buried her head in her legs. What does Kian have that she doesn’t?
She’s the future leader of CW and Celestino Inc, but they still keep focusing on him when he’ll be dead in a month. Aurelia walked to her daughter, but she stopped when someone knocked. She opened the door and pulled Eben in quickly.
She asked:
"How did it go?"
Eben said:
"He drank it all, he was already tired before I left."
They all let out a relieved breath. Eben put down his bag and pulled out three vials. He said: freёwebnoѵel.com
"Once you make a deal with the vampires to extend your life, you’ll have to have ingested that."
Aurelia took one vial and asked curiously:
"What is that?"
"Even if your life will be extended you won’t be immunized from illness, you’ll still be witches. But with this, you’re sure not to catch anything. It has to be ingested a week before the first drink of blood to be efficient."
Aurelia immediately took the vials and gave them to her husband and daughter. Eben looked at them, drank it all, and said:
"I should go back to my hotel, I’ll be back tomorrow morning."
Aurelia smiled and said:
"Thank you for everything, Dr. Eben."
"Of course."
After saying goodbye, he left.
Kian who was sitting on his bed in a pajama smiled and closed Versem. When he heard a sound he stood up but relaxed when he saw that it was Lucian. He sat on the bed again and Lucian sat in front of him.
"Is everything okay?"
Kian said:
"It is, I just wanted to make sure it’s possible to push the negotiations for the new terms."
"How long?"
"A week."
Lucian frowned.
"Are you feeling unwell?"
"No, I just need to stay in. I won’t be leaving the room."
"It’s no problem, I’ll tell my father."
Kian smiled.
"Thanks."
When Lucian didn’t smile back and looked down, Kian lifted his head.
"What’s wrong?"
Lucian looked at Kian and then asked:
"Do you think we’re just friends?"
Kian looked at him uncomfortably then away.
"Is this your way of saying we’re not friends?"
Lucian turned his head.
"That’s not what I asked. I’m asking you If you believe we are only friends?"
Kian murmured:
"I do."
Lucian looked at him expressionlessly and nodded. He stood up and said:
"I’ll tell my father to push the negotiations, you don’t have to worry about it. Just get some rest."
Before Kian could say something, Lucian was gone. Kian looked at the door he had just passed through and swallowed with difficulty. Lucian just looked at him the same way he does everyone.
Because he rejected him now he is just like everyone else to him. He won’t be sweet to him anymore and hold his hand. He was wrong, he and Lucian were never friends. Kian turned off the light and lay down.
