Chapter 219: Magic / 6.6 : Surprise
Atlas walked to the throne and respectfully bowed.
"Your majesty, great general."
Both Atlas’ hands were behind his back and he looked at the twins expressionlessly.
As soon as he faced them he felt the change Yitian went through from losing his father. His eyes were cold but Atlas could tell he was happy to see him.
He knows how hard things have been and he wishes he would’ve been there but he had to become stronger. Now at least he’ll be able to cure the empress dowager.
Even if he missed them he is still angry at them.
"This humble servant came after he heard that his majesty was offering three wishes to anyone who would be able to cure the empress dowager. I would like to exchange my services."
From the way Atlas had spoken it was clear that he was willing to do this but only to get his three wishes. At that moment the twins knew that he was still angry.
It doesn’t matter as long as he is here. He only had one more month left before they were about to go back to beast valley to bring him back. They felt their heartbeat quicken when their beloved smiled.
He looked even more beautiful than he did before and they didn’t even think it was possible. It isn’t surprising seeing that he is a mage. The more powerful a mage is the most beautiful they are.
Yitian tilted his head and asked:
"If the best mage in the empire Bai Yan couldn’t cure her what makes you think you can?"
Atlas’ smile didn’t falter at that question. He came and this is how he welcomes him? He narrowed his eyes at his teasing smile. He is going to teach him a lesson that’s for sure.
He looked at Yujin and saw that he was simply smiling at him. He’ll go easier on him. Atlas’ finger moved in a circle and the twins felt pressure on their chest. They immediately knew Atlas was responsible when they saw his mocking smile.
Yujin looked at him pouting as if to say I didn’t do anything. Still, Atlas didn’t stop. Yitian was about to say something when Sheng Zihang stood up and bowed to them.
When Atlas felt him hold his finger he stopped and looked at him. Zihang looked at his son gently and Atlas’ eyes moistened. It’s rare for Atlas to have such a loving parent.
Everything he did in this universe was so his father would be proud of him that’s why he stayed away. He knew that if he were to come back the Beis would’ve gotten rid of him immediately and he wouldn’t have enough power to fight back.
Furthermore, they have a dark mage on their payroll and after Atlas’ death, they would’ve dealt with his father and little sister.
Coming back would’ve put them more in danger but now that he is here and more powerful than anyone he won’t let history repeat itself. Atlas blinked back tears and Zihang looked at the emperor.

"His majesty is the one who had the word spread that he was looking for someone who would be able to cure the empress dowager and he heard it that’s why he’s here. Clearly, Bei Yan isn’t the best mage in the empire or you wouldn’t have to look for someone else to cure her."
Atlas looked at his father with a smile and Zihang smiled back. They both looked at Yan whose face was red. His hands under the table were tightened into fists and Huang looked as much furious as Yan looked humiliated.
The entire hall looked at Zihang shocked. Everyone knows how much the emperor and great general value Yan but he still dared to make this comment.
They would understand if it was before the emperor died but now no one is going to protect him from their wrath.
Huang was so furious that he forgot his manners. He stood up furiously and said:
"How dare you speak about my son like that? If it weren’t for your son he would be even more powerful than he is right now! He lost a lot of powers trying to save him from that ox humanoid because he was obsessed with reaching the cogent stage. Just because you lost him because of his obsession it doesn’t mean that you should put your anger on my son who’s been nothing more than a good friend to him."
When people saw Yan’s sad face they felt bad for him. He almost sacrificed his life to save Atlas and his father humiliates him like that by taking the side of some random mage.
When Yan heard disapproving whispers directed at Zihang he forced himself not to smile. He can tell that the man who came is a mage but he knows with certainty that he won’t be able to save the empress dowager.
Only an archmage can do that because they have the darkness ability. It angers him how the empress dowager is sticking to life. She has to die or the twins will never be with him.
He doesn’t know why but she’s always publicly shown her disdain for him when he’s done nothing but help the empire and her grandsons. frёeweɓηovel.coɱ
When the man burst out laughing he looked at him.
"Is that what you’ve been telling people Yinying?"
Yan’s eyes turned red and he looked at the man furiously. He stood up and pointed his finger.
"Don’t call me that!"
Everyone was surprised to see the usually poised Yan lose it at that nickname. It’s not like they blame him though. It’s just that since he became the best mage in the empire no one called him that ever again.
Yan’s chest went up and down and he forced himself not to burn him. When Atlas died he was happy because no one called him that anymore.
Atlas was known by everyone in the empire and everyone said that he was always followed by a young man who worshipped him. Because he was always with him people would call him shadow (Yinying).
Most people didn’t even know his name and they only knew him by that nickname. Once Atlas was gone and he became powerful no one dared to use that humiliating nickname anymore.
Just hearing it brings back all the terrible memories. He’ll never go back to the weak person and Atlas’ shadow he would rather die. Huang’s eyes darkened.
"Who do you think you are to speak to mage Yan like that?"
Atlas smiled and said:
"Have you already forgotten me uncle? I’m Atlas."
The entire hall gasped. Yan looked at Atlas wide-eyed, how is this possible? There’s no way he was able to survive that fall.
The only good thing about this is that he had his back to him so he didn’t see him when he threw that giant claw. And he is sure now that he isn’t a mage since he knows it hit his nucleus.
Thinking that Yan calm down a little and looked at his father. He had no expression on his face but Yan knew he was furious.
The entire room finally understood why Sheng Zihang had taken the young man’s side. The twins were just as shocked as everyone else but they didn’t react. They just felt worried that Atlas might never forgive them.
Yitian felt even more guilty for teasing him and bringing up Bei Yan when it was clear that he doesn’t like him.
They had heard about Atlas from their father who adored him so they know now that he would never stay in beast valley away from his family unless he had no choice.
Atlas looked at the twins and felt how uneasy they were. It doesn’t matter he’s pissed and he won’t stop punishing them until he wants to. When Atlas heard a sob he turned around and looked at his sister.
As soon as he did Yun’er immediately wiped her tears so Atlas wouldn’t see them. It seems like his sister still remembers what he would always tell her. Atlas smiled at her affectionately and she smiled back.
Zihang looked at his children then at the emperor.
"This minister will take a leave early if his majesty agrees I’m sure Atlas would like to rest."
The twins felt disappointed that Atlas was leaving already but they understand. Atlas looked at the twins, they were looking at him hoping that he would want to stay.
Atlas smiled mockingly and waited for Yitian to allow them to leave. Yitian looked at his mocking smile and knew he had it coming.
"You may leave."
Yitian looked at his brother and he looked back. They know that it’s going to be hard to make Atlas theirs but they’ll never give up. Atlas and Zihang bowed and they turned around.
Yun’er stood up and walked out with them. Yan and Huang sat back down and looked at them leave. Yan looked down, even if he is relieved that Atlas doesn’t know he is responsible everyone will know that he lied.
They’ll blame him for what happened to Atlas since he insisted on going to beast valley. Huang looked at his son and knew that he’s been keeping something from him.
