Chapter 170: Interstellar / 3.14 : A solemn vow

Damian entered Atlas’ house using the key he gave him and looked for him. He came into the living room and saw that he was using his tablet.

He took a seat next to him and asked:

"Are you okay?"

He hasn’t seen Atlas for any training since that day and he’s worried. When he would call him at 9 each time he would tell him that he isn’t in the mood to speak.

Atlas answered using the tablet:

"Everything is ready for the mission. Darius and the rest of the pirates will be on planet Udore so we can deal with them once and for all."

Damian took the tablet away and said:

"That’s not what I meant and you know it."

Atlas kept his head down, Damian lifted his head and looked into his eyes.

"What happened with the twins?"

Atlas met his eyes and said coldly:

"I was just playing with them it meant nothing so I put an end to it."

Damian sighed.

"Do you actually think you can lie to me? You love them so, of course, it meant something. I know that you were shaken up after Kalel was shot but they were worried about you. Wouldn’t you have done the same if the role were reversed?"

Atlas said:

"They abandoned me then they put themselves in danger. I don’t need that in my life."

Seeing Kalel bleeding impacted him more than he ever thought it would. He loves them so much so he didn’t want them to be in the area because he knew they would react this way.

Er-Ge would take a bullet for him but he doesn’t want him to. He wants him to live and be by his side. It’s true that if the roles were reversed he would’ve done the same but he has a backup while the twins are mortal.

When he saw Kalel’s state he was frozen and it never happened to him before. He felt so overwhelmed at the idea of losing him. If it was the only thing that happened he might’ve been okay but just the day before they abandoned him.

For the first time since he met Er-Ge, he had a nightmare and he wasn’t at his side. Usually, as soon as he would hear him he would wake him but this time he only did twenty minutes later.

It might not seem like much but it is. When he told them that he had nightmares they said that they would immediately wake him and caress his back until he falls asleep again but it didn’t happen this time.

Damian said:

"You do."

Atlas looked at him confused.

"Do you not realize how much you love them? I saw your eyes when Kalel was shot."

Atlas looked down and swallowed with difficulty. He didn’t think that his feelings would grow but they have and he feels like there’s no end to it.

But caring for someone so much means living with the fear of losing them too and that’s scary.

Damian pulled Atlas in his arms and said:

"Just rest the next couple of days then talk to them on our way to Udore." ƒгeeweɓn૦vel.com

Damian pulled back and caressed his head.

The twins entered the ship holding a bag. They walked to their quarters and unpacked. When they were done Kalel took a seat on the bed.

Klay sat next to him and asked:

"Are you alright? Do you feel uncomfortable?"

"I’m fine I just wish Atlas would stop giving us the silent treatment."

Klay said:

"He hasn’t talked to anyone besides Damian, he spends all his time in his house."

"I can’t go on like this Klay."

Klay caressed his head and said:

"I know we’ll talk to him today and see if he is willing to give us a chance."

Kalel nodded. When an announcement was heard in the entire ship they all left for the conference room.

The twins looked at the stage and saw that Atlas was sitting behind the table using his tablet while the new general of the academy was standing in front of the microphone.

Once everyone was sitting the general said:

"We’ll be in Udore in 48 hours. In the meantime, your schedule will be the same as the academy and it’s already been sent on your terminal."

A holographic display appeared and he explained:

"Team one is the leading team so they’ll lend here. Teams two and three will land here and here. As you all know the remaining pirates will be there so we not only have to deal with the Atrunias but with them. Team one will take care of them while the rest deal with the beasts. We added ten more people to each team to make sure that everything goes smoothly so follow the training we have prepared."

Evander frowned, he is in team one and they deal with the pirates which means if he sprays Atlas with the scent to lure the beasts they’ll be attacked by Atrunias.

He looked down thinking. No matter what Atlas has to die now more than ever. When he dies everything he has will be his and he won’t even have to share it with his father.

Honestly, he didn’t feel anything when he found out he died, he was controlling and he knew he would control his inheritance when he is the beneficiary.

The best thing in all of this is that the twins and Atlas don’t speak anymore so it will be easy to make them fall for him again once Atlas dies.

He’ll use the spray once they deal with the pirates. He lifted his head and when the new general nodded he asked:

"How does team one plan on dealing with the pirates?"

Atlas stood up and showed a map.

"All we need to do is lure them here. There’s a sinkhole that we’ll cover until there are standing above it. We’ll activate the trap so we can deal with them all at once." freeweɓnovel.cѳm

Evander’s eyes lit up. If he pushes Atlas in it and then sprays him he has no way to survive it’s perfect.

Once the conference ended the soldiers left for training. Atlas went to his quarters and took a nap. He hasn’t been able to sleep and he doesn’t want to use the system, he doesn’t want to become dependent on it.

The twins finished training and after showering they left for Atlas’ quarters. They used their method to unlock it then entered. They walked to his bedroom and looked at Atlas through the glass doors.

He was laying on the bed with his eyes closed but they could tell he wasn’t asleep. They could see tears on his face and felt their heart clench.

They opened the door and Atlas opened his eyes. Atlas sat up and wiped his tears. The twins sat in front of him. Kalel looked at him with worry and asked:

"When was the last time you slept?"

Atlas said:

"The night you abandoned me."

Since that night he hasn’t been able to sleep. The only reason he hasn’t collapsed or died is the system. Kalel reach out for him but Atlas pushed his hand away.

Kalel swallowed and said:

"We didn’t want to leave you you’re the one who told us to get out."

Atlas sneered:

"Oh? And was I the one who told you to sleep in the guest bedroom? Was I also the one who told you to show up and get shot?"

Klay said:

"Atlas no matter what happened Kalel and I don’t regret showing up. We’re always going to be here to make sure that you’re okay and safe."

Atlas burst out laughing.

"Like you made sure I was okay when I had a nightmare?"

The twins looked at Atlas. They didn’t realize how upset about it he was. Kalel said:

"We’re sorry we promise that from now on we’ll always be by your side."

Atlas yelled:

"Why should I believe you? That’s what you said when I told you I had nightmares. You said that you would wake me then rub my back until I fall asleep."

Klay reached out.

"Atlas..."

Atlas pushed his hand away and yelled:

"You’re liars just like everyone else!"

He is dependent on Er-Ge in many ways and has expectations but what did his expectations get him previously except disappointment?

He stood up putting space between them. He started to breathe louder and looked at Kalel.

"If that wasn’t bad enough you almost died!"

Kalel stood up and put his hand on his shoulders.

"It’s okay."

Atlas yelled:

"No, it’s not okay, none of this is okay! "

Atlas bit his lip and sobbed:

"There was so much blood and no matter how many times I washed my hands I could still see it."

Atlas breathed louder and cried:

"Every time I close my eyes so I can sleep I see you laying on the ground bleeding to death."

Kalel pulled Atlas in his arms and held him tightly. He promised:

"I’m so sorry baby. Klay and I will never leave your side we swear."

Klay stood up and caressed Atlas’ back.

"We’ll always sleep next to you and make sure to wake you when you have a nightmare. Then we’ll rub your back until you fall asleep again."

Atlas turned his head and looked at Klay. He wiped his tear and said:

"We’ll never break our promise okay?"

The twins looked at Atlas waiting for his answer. They never felt this scared before. They didn’t realize how badly Atlas had taken all of this.

They’ll do all they have to so he can love them as much as they love him. Atlas nodded and they felt like they could breathe again. Klay pulled him to the bed.

"Let’s sleep a little okay?"

Atlas lay down between the twins. Kalel pulled Atlas in his arms and he felt Klay hugging him from behind.

Atlas finally felt his entire body relax, all the stress and worry he’s been feeling left him, and he quickly fell asleep.
