Chapter 164: Interstellar / 3.8 : Not good enough
As soon as the ship landed Micah hurried to the surgical room to make sure everything was ready for the crown prince’s surgery. He looked at the three assistants he had hired to help Atlas and smiled.
Micah looked up and saw everyone sitting in the viewing area to watch Atlas’ perform the surgery. He left the room and joined them. He took a seat and looked at the king. Micah could tell he was worried.
If he has to sacrifice the crown prince to finally get rid of Atlas of course he will. Micah looked at Damian being brought in on the operation table. The assistant prepared him while they waited for Atlas.
Atlas entered the room and looked at the three assistants. Micah truly thinks he’s a fool, not only did he temper with the surgical tools but he brought those three idiots to make sure that by the end of the operation Damian will be brain dead.
Atlas put the case he had on the table and opened it. When Micah saw the tools he stood up and pushed a button and said:
"Atlas the tools are near the assistants I got to help you."
He looked at the assistant and one of them brought a tray with tools. Atlas looked at her then the two other assistants and ordered:
"Get out."
The assistants were stunned, they looked at Micah. Micah pushed the button again.
"I told you they’re here to help you."
Atlas said still looking at them:
"I don’t need help so get out."
Damian who wasn’t put under yet smiled. When the assistants looked at Micah again Atlas pointed at the wall and asked:
"What does it say?"
The assistant looked at the wall. There was a silver sign with the emblem of the Storm family. One of the assistants said:
"Storm Academy."
Atlas said raising an eyebrow:
"I’m Atlas Storm while the one up there is named Micah Destry. Now that you know that who do you think you should listen to the person who owns the academy or the person I let run my school?"
The assistants immediately put everything back and left. They thought that the academy was Micah’s just like the entire academy does. Atlas tossed their tools in the trash with disdain and put his tools instead.
For ten minutes he made sure every installation was working and that nothing was tampered with. When it was done he walked to Damian. Atlas was holding a laryngeal mask airway in his hands.
He looked at Damian and asked:
"Ready?"
Damian nodded, he looked up and quickly glanced at the twins then at his father.
He could tell he was nervous and he smiled at him reassuringly, Mace smiled back. Damian looked at Atlas and pulled him for a kiss, Atlas kissed him back. It was a pretty tame kiss compared to the one they had just before his torture.
When Damian pulled back he chuckled when he saw Atlas’ eyes flash in amusement. That’s what he loves about Atlas most they don’t need to communicate to understand each other.
He’s just giving him a hand with the twins and he immediately got it. Atlas said with a smile:
"I love you Da-Ge." freewebnoveℓ.com
"I love you more."
Mace rolled his eyes at the two clowns. He knows that they’re messing around with someone he’s just not sure who. They’re like brothers so he’s sure of it.
Damian leaned back and Atlas put the mask on his face. Damian inhaled until he fell asleep. Atlas pulled back the mask and started surgery.
He grabbed his scalpel and followed the same cut the pirates had made and used clamps to pull each side apart.
He used a suction machine so he could see the chip that was blocked by all the blood. When he finally saw it he saw that each leg was implanted in the heart and they all had to be cut one at a time.
He took his time cutting each leg until they were none left. He pulled out the microchip and used the suction machine when it started to bleed again.
After sewing back the cut he put electrodes on Damian’s head and linked it to his computer.
He checked the activity in the brain and saw that the other consciousness was almost gone. After attaching him he pushed a button and Damian started to seize. When he stopped he check his brain and saw that it was completely gone.
He untied him and took the electrodes off. He put a bandage on his chest and looked at Mace.
"It’s gone."
Mace let out a breath.
"I’ll have him brought to the post-op room if you want to stay with him until he wakes up."
Mace nodded he walked out in a hurry. Atlas had someone push Damian away and he followed him.
The twins and their father stood up and left. Evander looked at his father, he could see that he was close to losing his mind.
"That son of a bitch didn’t use the tool I provided or any of the assistants. Who does he think he is?"
Evander said:
"Now that the crown prince is safe what can we do to get rid of him and inherit everything before he changes his will?"
Hearing that Micah became even more stressed, Atlas might want to change the will since Evander didn’t return his feelings. His eyes light up when he thought about the next mission.
He said:
"The king made a deal with the president of Udore. One of their forests is overturned with Atrunias. He told him that he would send help to make sure they don’t reach the villagers. They put a force field around the forest to contain them for now until help gets there. The king told me to send three teams of 10 soldiers I believe will be able to kill them all. A friend of mine can create scent to lure those kinds of beasts."
Evander asked:
"So we would make sure that Atlas is covered in it like that they’ll all attack him during the mission?"
Micah nodded as his eyes flashed wickedly. Evander said:
"Then we need to make sure it doesn’t smell or people will know that it was murder and not an accident during a mission."
Micah assured him:
"Don’t worry my friend can do that. All you’ll have to do is to pretend to spill your bottle of water on him then he’ll be ripped apart by the Atrunias."
Evander and his father smiled maliciously.
Atlas checked Damian’s vital signs and when he was sure he is okay he smiled at him.
"You should sleep at least 8 hours tonight then tomorrow you’ll be back to normal."
Damian pulled Atlas in his arms, he hugged him back with a smile.
"Thank you."
Atlas pulled back and said:
"You don’t have to thank me."
Mace hugged Atlas and he hugged him back. He pulled back and said:
"Thank you, son."
Atlas smiled at him. He said:
"I should go, don’t forget what I said."
Before Atlas could pass through the door Damian said:
"You better pick up your phone when I call at 9."
He turned around and said with a smile before leaving:
"I will."
As he walked through the campus Atlas kept being stopped because someone wanted to take pictures with him or tell him how amazing he is.
Evander looked at the crowd forming around Atlas and when they all dispersed he ran to catch up with him. He asked:
"Where are you going?"
"My house."
Evander asked:
"You left the dorms?"
Atlas nodded.
His family has a house on campus but Atlas wanted to sleep in the dorm so no one would think he believes he is better than them but he doesn’t care anymore.
Everyone already believes that Atlas follows every command out of Micah’s mouth and that the academy belongs to him because he was incredibly subservient to him and Evander but he’s done with that.
Evander looked at Atlas surprised. When he saw him walking faster he held his wrist but Atlas pulled it back. He stopped and looked at him. Evander was surprised by his attitude.
He asked sadly:
"Are you angry at me because I didn’t return your feelings?"
His eyes moistened and he said:
"Atlas I was overwhelmed that day."
Atlas forced himself not to roll his eyes and said:
"I realized when I was on the pirate ship and believed I would die soon that I wasted my time being afraid. I’ve always feared being alone so I would hang on to the first person I would see and in this case it was you. What I felt for you wasn’t real, I was just settling. But I shouldn’t settle for anything less than I deserve."
Evander looked at Atlas stunned. Did he just say that he was settling with him? Almost everyone at the academy has a crush on him including the twins.
He asked:
"Are you saying I’m not good enough for you?"
"You’re not I’m a Storm while you’re just a Destry."
Evander gaped, Atlas would literally do everything he would ask of him that’s how much he loved him and now he dares say that? He can’t be serious how can he think he’s not good enough?
Atlas’ name is indeed known everywhere unlike his but that doesn’t mean he isn’t good enough.
He froze when Atlas said with a smile like he hadn’t just insulted him:
"It’s a good thing that I know how better than you I am that way we can be real friends. Just friends."
Atlas said before leaving:
"I have to go there are movers at my house."
Evander looked at him go. His heartbeat was out of control, he felt equal part panicked and angry. Everyone has always seen him as this nice and poised person so they wouldn’t care if he didn’t come from an old family.
But Atlas thinks that he isn’t good enough to become a Storm, he thinks that he’s not worth his romantic interest in him. We’ll see about that. Evander turned around and left angrily.
