Atlas woke up and looked at the person asleep next to him. He smiled and sat up. he grabbed his cellphone to check if all the hard work he did to wash Damian’s reputation clean before they went to bed worked.
He had to create footage of the pirates operating on him when they put the captain’s consciousness in Damian.
In it, they scan his brain and you can see two consciousness, and the date is written at the bottom so they’ll all know he never betrayed Traetis.
When he saw all the positive responses he smiled. After everything he’s been through he doesn’t deserve people doubting his integrity. He stood up and went to take a shower.
When he finished dressing he checked Versem and exited the quarters. Atlas walked to the counsel room and took a seat at the end of the table using his cellphone.
The twins were talking to their father the general of the army via hologram. When their call ended he asked:
"What did he say?"
When he didn’t hear an answer he looked up from his cellphone and looked at the twins. They both looked furious, Klay asked:
"Why were you sleeping in the same quarters as Damian when there’s more than enough for all of us?"
Atlas couldn’t understand their anger but he answered:
"I’m used to it we always sleep together."
When the twins’ grey eyes turned two shades darker Atlas felt stunned. Those two morons are Er-Ge?
Is this a fuckin joke? Those two traitors married Evander and they’ve been nothing but nasty to him since he entered this universe. Atlas thought for a few seconds and almost hit his forehead.
Now he understands their anger when they saw him on top of Damian in the captain’s quarters.
And he also knows now that Er-Ge’s soul-flakes are scattered in the multiverse. There are two of them which means two soul-flakes so he’s not following him.
Knowing that made him feel better. It would be too much pressure to know that he is following him. Atlas thought for a few seconds, he needs to make those two renegades pay.
Despite his shock, Atlas didn’t react and he asked:
"What did the general say?"
Kalel calmed down and asked:
"Did you leak that video of Damian’s mind being taken over by another consciousness?"
"I did, I don’t want anyone to question his integrity."
Hearing that the twins felt complicated, they like that Atlas is willing to do anything for the people he cares about but they wish he didn’t care so much about Damian.
Klay said:
"The general gave us the coordinates where we’ll land. Since now everyone knows that the crown prince is innocent he wants everyone to see us arrive as heroes. The press will be there for his reunion with the king then we’ll all go to the base to remove the other consciousness before it’s too late."
Atlas nodded and stood up to leave, but he stopped when Kalel asked:
"Why didn’t you show up for the debriefing?"
He looked at him and answered with a mocking smile.
"Aren’t you the lieutenant general? At least for now."
Klay asked angrily:
"Do you hate us that much?"
Atlas smiled.
"I do I won’t stop until you lose to me."
He turned around to leave but the twins blocked the door. Kalel said:
"How can you think our father stole your father’s place as the general of the army?"
Atlas asked:
"Are you two stupid?"
Atlas said with cold eyes:
"How can you believe I think that when my father is the one who recommended him before he died?"
The twins looked into Atlas’ eyes and knew it was the truth.
Every time the general of the army goes on a mission he writes the name of the person he thinks should take his place if he was to perish on the mission. They’ve seen their father do it.
Klay said:
"Then this is about Evander you don’t like how close we are to him?"
The two things Evander told them about is their father’s title and him. He said that Atlas is jealous since he is in love with him.
Even if Atlas has never said anything to them or even acknowledge their presence when they would see each other beside in a professional setting there are a lot of rumors running around at the academy.
Atlas took a step backward and crossed his arms. He said his cheeks flushed:
"I don’t care who you two get close to. You can’t do whatever you want it doesn’t affect me."
The twins tilted their heads stunned, Is Atlas jealous of Evander not them?
When Kalel took a step forward Atlas took a step backward and they knew that he actually likes them not Evander. Klay asked:
"Do you like us?"
Atlas’s face reddened and he said defensively:
"I don’t like you okay? You need to get over yourself."
The twins couldn’t stop themselves from smiling. Kalel said:
"You like us."
Atlas looked at them furiously and said:
"I don’t like you I hate you."
His eyes moistened and he said:
"Why would I like you when you’ve been nothing but mean to me? Even when I was chained and about to be tortured you were nasty."
The twins felt guilty seeing how upset he was, they should’ve stopped when they knew he likes them. Kalel took a step forward.
"Atlas..."
"I don’t need two mean people like you around me."
Before the twins could say anything Atlas had run out. Klay was about to run after him but Kalel held him.
"Don’t! He needs space."
They’re happy to know that Atlas was jealous of Evander not them but it kills them how hurt he is by their behavior. Kalel said:

Klay nodded.
"I know he’s already been through a lot."
Atlas closed Versem with a malicious smile. Those two will kneel before him. As soon as Er-Ge recognizes him his feelings change and in this case, it was the same. He’s sure it happened when he was being tortured.
He remembers Klay apologizing when he was dealing with his wounds and he winced. He thought it was weird since he hates him but he had bigger fish to fry at the time.
He knew that the twins would feel guilty for their behavior if they believed all this time he didn’t like Evander but them. That’s obviously a lie he was in love with Evander in the OG timeline.
He was so blinded by his feelings that he couldn’t see that he was bad-mouthing him to the entire academy and the twins. Even if people were impressed by the fact that he was a genius they all thought he was petty and immature for hating the twins because they loved the same person he did.
Atlas didn’t like the twins but he never acted incorrectly or malevolently. When they would meet during conferences with all the leaders he acted professionally. It infuriates him that those two knuckleheads believed Evander.
He’s going to make them gravel for a long time that’s for sure but he can’t lie he’s so excited at the idea of being with the two of them.
When Atlas entered the quarters he saw that Damian had showered and was dressed. He was using his cellphone, he looked at Atlas when he heard him.
"Did you do this?"
Atlas nodded.
Damian swallowed with difficulty and he stood up to face him.
"How can you not hate me?"
Atlas looked at him confused.
"How can you not hate me for torturing you?"
Atlas said:
"Because you had no control over your body and I know that you would never hurt me."
Damian looked down. He can deal with everything he’s done during the time he was a prisoner but he can’t deal with what happened to Atlas. Even though he tortured him, Atlas still looked for him and tried to bring his consciousness back.
If that wasn’t enough Atlas made sure everyone would know that his body was taken over. He knew how worried he would be so Atlas dealt with the situation for him. He doesn’t deserve him as a brother and Atlas deserves someone better too.
Atlas could tell where his mind was going and he asked:

Damian’s eyes flashed with guilt hearing that.
He’s only thinking about himself when all Atlas has done is think about him. He held his hand and swore:
"I’ll never abandon you I promise."
When a tear ran down Atlas’ face he wiped it and hugged him tightly.
He can’t imagine how hard things must have been for him and as Atlas’s big brother he should make things easier, not harder. He won’t leave his side and he’ll take care of him as he did.
