When Atlas opened his eyes he was on stage with a microphone in front of him. He looked around and saw that he was in a stadium. There were more than 100 000 people and they all seemed upset with him.
The people were booing and insulting him. They kept howling liar and traitor, some were even throwing things at him on stage. What the fuck is this? Atlas blinked to receive the universe’s information.
This Atlas is a 21-year-old man. He was abandoned by his mother in an orphanage and never had any memories of her. Atlas had a hard time making friends until one day he met a kid visiting the orphanage with his mother called Lan Dawei.

When Dawei was nineteen Etoile agency invited him to audition after they saw videos of him singing online. After Dawei asked Atlas to accompany him he agreed. As Dawei sang Atlas played the piano.
The director of the agency was enchanted by Dawei’s voice but even more by Atlas’ lovely face. They felt like he would be perfect as the leader of a band.
That very day they offered to sign Dawei and Atlas together to be part of a band with a newcomer they thought would be a perfect addition. Atlas refused since his dream was to be an actor.
The director insisted and when he saw that Atlas was unwilling he told Dawei that they would only sign him if Atlas was on board. For days Dawei tried to convince Atlas but it was all for naught.
Dawei’s mother Yishang took Atlas aside and told him that she would throw him in the street and make sure he would never have an acting career unless he took the offer. Atlas knew full well the power of the Lan family so he agreed.
Quickly he, Dawei, and another man named Zhu Jianci formed the band L3. Dawei who had the best voice thought he would be the lead singer but they decided to make Atlas the face of the band seeing that he was the most attractive.
Dawei was furious since Atlas couldn’t sing as well as him but never voiced his real thoughts. They recorded their first album and the agency poured a lot of money into advertising to make sure they would be seen everywhere.
Thanks to Atlas’ beautiful face they became recognized everywhere and started to tour the country. For two years L3 grew in fame, especially Atlas.
He used that opportunity to try to enter the acting world. He had been taking acting classes the whole time he was touring and felt confident enough to start acting.
A casting director who was in contact with the agency decided to let Atlas audition for a new tv show called The Emperor’s Prisoner which was to start shooting in a couple of weeks. Atlas was over the moon and worked hard to make sure he would be cast as the third most important character.
What he didn’t know is that Dawei had secretly been taking acting lessons so he could audition as well for the same role. Dawei who had been acting like Atlas’ friend the whole time hated him for stealing his dream and spot as the lead singer.
He hated that he was the leader and that everyone thought he was a better singer and most handsome so he hatched a plan to destroy him for good.
Dawei used their last concert before they started recording their new album to do it. Even if Dawei’s voice was more beautiful everyone believed Atlas’ was better just because he was more handsome.
Dawei decided to use that against him. In that universe, a singer could destroy his career in a heartbeat, all they had to do is get caught lip-syncing. A few days before their last concert Atlas found out that he was losing his voice.
He thought he just had a sore throat but what he didn’t know is that Dawei had secretly been poisoning him and was losing his singing voice. The agency decided to make him lip sync since it was the last concert and it was in a stadium with more than 100 000 fans. They couldn’t cancel the concert or they would lose millions.
Dawei paid a crew member to cut the vocal track at the perfect moment and the entire stadium heard Atlas’s real voice at the very last song. They immediately started to boo him and he ran away from the stage. Dawei gave a sign to the crew member and after he started the track again he sang the entire song.
By the very next day, Atlas’ singing career and reputation were destroyed while Dawei’s soared for saving the concert. Rumors about him never singing live spread everywhere.
The casting director canceled the audition and he was fired from the Etoile agency. His girlfriend a famous actress also ended their relationship. When he went back to the estate Yishang threw him away for humiliating her son.
Atlas couldn’t get a job seeing that his face was recognizable and everyone hated him. He ended up on the street because every penny he made from singing was given to his foster family. They said that they deserved to be paid for taking care of him for so long.
Atlas who was scared of Yishang ruining his chance at being an actor would give everything he would earn silently. He thought he only had to suffer for a little while until he could live his dream as an actor.
Dawei ended up being the frontman of the band and got a part in the tv show Atlas was supposed to audition for. The tv show ended up being a huge success launching his acting career.
He even fell in love with the movie emperor Tan Shuyuan on set making them a royal couple. The press and the fans couldn’t get enough of them.
When Atlas saw that Dawei had done all of this to destroy his life he decided to give him what he wanted and killed himself. The news of his death spread but his previous fans who had felt betrayed all believed he deserved it.
When Atlas had all the information he looked down thinking. He used Versem to make some adjustments and grabbed the microphone. He decided to sing a song that doesn’t exist in this universe.
The song was about family and what a blessing it is. When he hit the first note the entire stadium became silent, only his voice echoed.
Everyone only had eyes for him and they were stunned. They all felt like his voice sounded better than it ever had. Everyone always thought that Dawei had a better voice than Atlas but because people loved him more they would say Atlas was a better singer.
But at that moment Atlas sounded better than Dawei ever did. They couldn’t understand why he would lip sync in the first place when he sounded so beautiful.
Why would they pay to attend his concert when they could’ve just listened to his song at home since he wasn’t singing live? But at that moment that was the last thing on their mind.
They felt like they were sailors lured by the sweetness of Atlas’s song. His voice was enchanting and they were captivated until the very last note.
When Atlas finished singing the stadium was silent again, he looked at the crowd teary-eyed and said:
"I’ve never had a family I grew up in an orphanage. When I started to tour and I felt your love and faith I believed that’s what it felt like."
Atlas swallowed and said with difficulty:
"I’ve been losing my singing voice and the specialist told me that I needed a break or I would lose it for good. I told him I had one last concert and that I couldn’t cancel it. He said that singing all the songs would be okay except the last one for obvious reasons. So I thought I would lip sync only for the last song because I didn’t want to disappoint you. I didn’t want to disappoint my only family."
When tears fell on his beautiful face everyone started to feel guilty. They felt like they had been too harsh on him and they could tell he was in pain because he kept touching his neck.
His breathing was also getting louder and louder. Altas smiled melancholically when he heard someone scream:
"We’re sorry."
More people started to follow and the whole stadium resonated with apologies.
Atlas said after wiping his tears:
"You don’t have to apologize, I’m glad I was able to sing this song I had written for you as thanks as my last time singing."
As Atlas said that he started to hyperventilate and they became scared, they all felt like he had finally realized he would never be able to sing again. Screams erupted when he fainted.
Dawei who was behind was trembling in rage. How is this possible? Atlas should’ve been the one to apologize but he managed to make 100 000 people do it instead.
At least the good thing is that he has lost his voice for good. He can’t believe all this time he could sing this well. Even if he hates to admit it it was better than him.
He wishes his reputation would’ve been ruined along with his career but at least he lost one of those. He pretended to run to Atlas and called his name in fear but Atlas was unresponsive. He looked at the fans who looked frightened for him, he swears he won’t give up until they worship him as they do Atlas.
