Chapter 663: Chapter 233: The Covert Competition Between Girlfriends

Hearing Zhong Tingyue’s affirmative answer, Bai Weixi breathed a sigh of relief. She had thought the other woman would refuse.

"He will be there too!" Bai Weixi added casually, though her tone was intentional. "He organized the whole birthday party."

This was her way of telling Zhong Tingyue that Li Yuan had personally arranged everything, a clear sign of how much he valued her. Her words carried a distinct note of provocation.

"I know," Zhong Tingyue replied, her expression flat.

Seeing Zhong Tingyue’s unmoved demeanor, Bai Weixi gently stomped her foot, nodded with a smile, and then left the balcony to inform her other roommates.

Watching Bai Weixi’s retreating figure, Zhong Tingyue smiled faintly to herself. Sometimes, she felt her campus belle roommate was actually quite pitiful. Originally, Li Yuan and Bai Weixi were childhood sweethearts. In high school, they had developed feelings for each other, and Li Yuan had even pursued her for three years. They both ended up at the same university. By all rights, two people in love should have ended up together, but in the end... Sigh. She sometimes found it hard to judge because she herself was also a pitiful soul caught up in this mess. In fact, she was sinking deeper and deeper, unable to break free. She even had to accept the melodramatic reality of sharing a boyfriend with other girls. But who would be willing to back out? Bai Weixi wasn’t, Xia Zhijin wasn’t, and she herself, who thought she could let go, discovered she couldn’t either.

Zhong Tingyue stood outside for a while before returning to the dormitory.

As she reached the door, she could hear Wang Lisha, Deng Meiqi, and Ding Shanshan inside, cheering and excitedly discussing Bai Weixi’s birthday.

"Weixi, today is your birthday? Why didn’t you say anything earlier? Oh no, I haven’t prepared a gift for you yet!" Wang Lisha’s eyes went wide as she paced around anxiously. It was only natural to prepare a gift for a roommate’s birthday to show you cared.

Grinning, Deng Meiqi hugged Bai Weixi’s arm and teased, "Weixi, just tell us what you need, and I’ll buy it for you."

Ding Shanshan chimed in, "Weixi is a little heiress, what could she possibly need? I don’t even know what to get her."

Bai Weixi smiled, her shoulder-length black hair soft and silky. She looked at her roommates and said softly, "You don’t need to prepare any gifts. Just coming to eat with me is enough. I’m not lacking anything right now."

"No way!" Wang Lisha protested. "Weixi, this is your first birthday during our university life! We definitely have to get you presents. It’s only noon, so there’s still time. By the way, Weixi, where is your birthday party?"

"How did Li Yuan arrange it?"

"It must be something amazing, right? I’m really looking forward to it."

The girls all stared curiously at Bai Weixi, awaiting her answer. They had all attended classmates’ birthdays before. Typically, it involved having a meal together, offering wishes and gifts, singing the birthday song, and eating cake. That was usually it. But they had just heard Bai Weixi say that Li Yuan himself had organized this party.

Their expectations immediately skyrocketed. Li Yuan was a legend at their school—charismatic, talented, and a multimillionaire. A birthday party he personally arranged was bound to be extraordinary.

Bai Weixi herself didn’t know the exact location of the party. Li Yuan had only told her to give him a headcount and not to ask about anything else. All she had to do was dress up beautifully and wait for him at the school.

Bai Weixi pursed her lips and smiled. "I’m not sure where it is exactly. Li Yuan told us to wait at the school for him to pick us up."

Wang Lisha asked, "Oh, really? Is Li Yuan planning a big surprise? He’s being so mysterious. Weixi, is it just us roommates going?"

Bai Weixi nodded, then shook her head. "It’s us, along with Congcong, Qingyu, Zhou Lei, and a few other college classmates, plus some of my high school friends. Probably a little over a dozen people. As for Li Yuan’s side, I don’t know if he has invited anyone else."

When Li Yuan had asked how many people would be coming from her side, she had decided to only invite a few college classmates she was close with and not to notify the others.

Wang Lisha suddenly leaned in and whispered, "Weixi, did you tell Tingyue?"

Bai Weixi nodded. "I told her. She’s going too."

"Awesome!" Hearing that Bai Weixi’s "love rival" was also attending, Wang Lisha couldn’t help but give a thumbs-up. She felt awkward just imagining the scene.

"Tingyue is going as well?" Hearing Bai Weixi’s reply, Ding Shanshan and the others felt a strange mix of emotions.

Sometimes they really couldn’t understand the current relationship between Bai Weixi and Zhong Tingyue. They were clearly love rivals, but they didn’t have the tense, hostile relationship one might expect, nor did they badmouth each other. But was their relationship that good? Not exactly. They could all clearly sense the tense atmosphere whenever the two were together. For Bai Weixi to invite Zhong Tingyue to her birthday party... wouldn’t that be incredibly awkward?

Just as they were discussing this, Zhong Tingyue pushed open the dormitory door and walked in.

In an instant, the chatter in the room quieted considerably. Wang Lisha, Deng Meiqi, and the other girls fell silent in unison, and the atmosphere suddenly grew tense.

This had been the situation ever since Li Yuan’s philandering was exposed. Everyone was almost used to it.
