Chapter 657: Chapter 231: Training the Treasure Girl, Bai’s Birthday Anxiety (Seeking Monthly Pass)

Listening to Xia Zhijin’s request, Li Yuan pinched her anxious little face. What’s the big deal? This is easy as pie for me. However, he decided to tease her a bit.

Putting on a grave expression, he asked indifferently, "Zhijin, how did you come up with this request?"

Seeing Li Yuan’s serious expression, Xia Zhijin suddenly grew tense. Her large eyes began to shimmer with tears as she stammered, "Ah? If you don’t want to write one, then... then let’s just forget about it."

Seeing her reaction, Li Yuan couldn’t help but laugh. This treasure of a girl hadn’t changed at all.

Even though their relationship had reached this point and they were completely honest with each other, she was still as shy and cautious as ever. She showed none of the behavior other girls might display, like acting spoiled or throwing unreasonable tantrums.

Li Yuan understood there could only be two reasons for this.

First, her personality was shaped by her family and environment. It had become so deeply ingrained in her thoughts that it wouldn’t be easy to change in the short term.

Second, she still lacked a true sense of security with him. His actions hadn’t yet given her enough comfort to let go of her psychological burdens and feel free to act spoiled or willful.

That was why she was so timid, even when asking him to write a song for her.

She must have already known that he had written songs specifically for Jiang Zhiyu, Zhong Tingyue, and Bai Weixi. Any other girl would have definitely thrown a tantrum.

But that was Xia Zhijin for you—a treasure of a girl with a gentleness that tugged at your heartstrings.

Yet, Li Yuan didn’t want this wonderful girl, who saw only him in her entire world, to live so cautiously. He pulled her into a tight hug and kissed her forehead.

He looked earnestly into her tearful eyes and spoke with a solemn expression.

"Zhijin, you are my girlfriend, and in the future, you’ll be my wife. You don’t have to walk on eggshells around me, afraid to say or do the wrong thing.

"You’re my girlfriend, so you can act spoiled, be willful, and even get angry with me. Even if you have a bit of an attitude, I will never leave you. Do you understand what I’m saying, Zhijin?"

Meeting Li Yuan’s gaze and listening to his words—which sounded domineering but were incredibly sweet—Xia Zhijin was instantly enveloped by a feeling of bliss.

She nodded vigorously, her voice choked with happiness. "Hubby, I understand."

Li Yuan gently tapped the beauty’s delicate nose and smiled mischievously. "Then how about you make that request again, but from a girlfriend’s perspective?"

"Ah?" Xia Zhijin looked baffled, not quite catching his meaning.

Li Yuan chuckled. "Just like I taught you. Say it again, but with the tone of a girlfriend acting spoiled."

Xia Zhijin glanced shyly at him, her heart pounding. This time, she understood. She tucked a stray lock of hair behind her ear, pictured how a spoiled girlfriend would act, and spoke in a voice as soft as a mosquito’s whisper, "Hubby, will you write a song for me too, pretty please?"

Hearing her coy voice, Li Yuan shivered. A jolt of electricity surged through him, and her coquettish tone sent a pleasant tingle through his entire body. Looking at her blushing face as she gazed at him shyly, Li Yuan felt like he was floating on air.

It was so gentle, so wonderful to hear, so full of feeling. The extreme contrast was utterly intoxicating.

Li Yuan ruffled Xia Zhijin’s head, praising her lavishly, "Not bad, not bad! That’s the feeling."

"Haha, you should hold onto my arm and shake it gently. That feels even more like a girlfriend being spoiled with her boyfriend."

Xia Zhijin snuck a peek at Li Yuan and asked softly, "Hubby, should I... try again?"

"Of course!" Li Yuan’s eyes lit up, and he nodded eagerly.

Her cheeks flushing, Xia Zhijin wrapped her fair arms around his. Xiongda and Xionger also brushed softly against his arm. Using that same spoiled tone, she spoke again.

"Hubby, I really want you to write a song for me. Would you please?"

That’s the right vibe! Li Yuan jolted. The tingling sensation instantly got him going, and he flipped over to pull the treasure of a girl into his embrace.

"Zhijin, you did great. Heh heh, hubby’s going to give you a little reward," he said. With that, he leaned in to get a closer look at the state of Xiongda and Xionger...

...

By the time their "game" ended, it was already past midnight.

Looking at the weary Xia Zhijin, Li Yuan smiled. "Zhijin, I’ve actually thought of a song that would suit you perfectly. I’ll learn the score in the next few days and sing it for you."

"Okay, hubby!" Xia Zhijin cooed softly.

The next day, they went to campus together. During a large lecture, Li Yuan snuck back to the dormitory. He picked up his guitar and, using the composition methods Little Fish had taught him, began to play a new song.

If Xia Zhijin had been a bad singer, it wouldn’t have mattered. But having heard her warm and intoxicating voice the night before, he naturally wanted to choose a song that was perfect for her.

He spent the next while composing and practicing. Half a day flew by in a blur, and thanks to his excellent learning ability and musical sense, Li Yuan had the song for Xia Zhijin ready in just over half a day.

Late that afternoon, at their old spot on the campus’s Mandarin Duck Slope, Li Yuan asked Xia Zhijin to meet him.
