Chapter 30: Monarch Of Death

The night was supposed to be peaceful for everyone... but unfortunately, it wasn’t for some people.

That night was destined to remain one of the most unforgettable moments in the history of the cold moon district.

The chilly wind swept through the streets, and the night remained silent. Yet beneath that silence, undercurrents surged like a rising tide.

Inside an abandoned warehouse, a potbellied man dragged a lady along forcefully.

"Hehe, didn’t think you’d be caught by me so soon did you? Heh." The man grinned, exposing rows of stained teeth.

The girl was pale, but her cheeks were flushed, a clear sign that she was intoxicated far beyond normal and had been drugged heavily.

The man shoved her roughly onto the ground. The girl didn’t even attempt to struggle. The drug they’d slipped into her drink had stripped away nearly all sense of rationality.

She stared at the man with glassy eyes as he slowly unbuttoned his clothes.

His men had already surrounded the place, so he didn’t expect anyone to disturb him. He was free to use her however he pleased.

The man’s grin widened.

"Money truly is POWE-"

Blood sprayed across the girl’s face.

It was as though the effects of the drug vanished instantly.

"Arrrrrrhhhhhhhhh!"

She let out a piercing scream and frantically wiped at the blood covering her face while stumbling toward the warehouse exit without any direction in mind.

The fat man’s head slowly tilted sideways before rolling off his shoulders...

Even at the moment of death, the silly grin still lingered on his face. Yet buried within his eyes was a fleeting look of horror.

Meanwhile, the instant the girl ran outside, she froze in place, staring at her surroundings with a dumbfounded expression.

"Thi... this..." the girl subconsciously staggered backward in a daze.

More than ten guards’ corpses littered the surroundings before her. None of them looked like they’d even realized death was approaching.

The girl’s face turned deathly pale.

She lost consciousness instantly.

...

The same scene repeated itself throughout the cold moon district.

Every single person on the list was gradually wiped out one after another.

While all this was happening, Amon’s ride slowly came to a stop.

With a faint smile, he paid the driver and stepped down from the vehicle.

After a light knock, Kayla opened the door and saw Amon standing there.

"I thought you were going to come home later on?" she asked, staring at him curiously.

Amon pulled her into his embrace.

"Is that how you welcome your husband after a stressful day of work?"

Kayla’s face reddened instantly.

"Don’t say something like that..." she tried slipping out of his grasp, but his hold was too firm.

Kayla could only reluctantly give up and allow herself to remain trapped within his embrace.

Yet internally, warmth spread quietly through her heart.

’It seems I was worried about nothing...’ she thought with a relieved smile.

She initially believed their relationship had begun drifting apart after the birth of their daughter. However, it seemed that wasn’t the case after all.

Everything felt as though it was slowly being repaired.

"I prepared dinner, are you hungry?" Kayla asked after they’d remained like that for more than ten seconds.

"I still want to hug you some more..." Amon replied softly.

"Oh, okay." Kayla answered simply before resting her head against his chest.

She could hear his heartbeat.

Calm.

Steady.

For some reason, it gave her a vague sense of warmth and protection.

"Are you done yet?" Kayla finally asked after nearly a minute passed.

"Mmm." Amon nodded and released her from his hold.

"Settle down while I serve dinner. Ciara’s already asleep, so try not to make too much noise."

Hearing her words, Amon felt slightly suspicious, though he still chose not to disturb Ciara for now.

Whenever she woke up, they would finally have the conversation.

Meanwhile, after hearing her mother’s words, Ciara silently crawled back toward her room without alerting anyone. freewebnovel.cσ๓

She felt relieved that Amon had returned home safely.

’He doesn’t seem to have the scent of blood or smoke. Did he not kill anyone today?’ Ciara wondered inwardly but chose not to ask.

Her strength was gradually increasing.

Before long, she would catch up to her dad and finally be able to help him.

Kayla soon returned to the sitting room carrying the dishes with her. Two trays rested in her hands.

"I was busy with Ciara earlier, so I was unable to eat." She explained with a smile.

Stretching out her hand, she turned on the television before switching to a movie channel.

A romantic movie soon began playing.

"I read some reviews about this movie just a few hours ago. I didn’t think I’d get to watch it so soon. Most of them were good reviews as well." Kayla’s eyes lit up the moment the movie began.

Amon also grew slightly curious, his interest quietly piqued.

In the background, the system had finally reached ten percent in updating.

The atmosphere between the couple remained warm and peaceful...

Meanwhile, the outside world drowned in bloodshed and coldness...

After dinner, Kayla carried the dishes away while Amon used the time to make sure everything was turned off and all the doors were locked.

The moment she returned, he lifted her bridal style and carried her toward the room.

Kayla couldn’t help blushing at Amon’s behavior.

"What’s gotten into you lately?" she asked curiously, inwardly surprised.

"Is it now an issue to want to spend time with my wife?" Amon asked back, causing Kayla to choke on her words.

"So shameless..." Kayla muttered after a brief silence as the two entered the room.

The night continued peacefully...

...

The next morning, every armed force within the cold moon district was shaken.

Blood.

Endless bloodshed.

And it had all happened while no one expected it.

In a single night, more than a hundred high-ranking officials, bandits, thieves, and countless others had been killed.

Even all the criminals imprisoned within the district had been eradicated.

Everyone’s heart filled with horror.

After reviewing the CCTV footage they managed to recover, they finally found one clip that captured the figure responsible.

Dressed in flowing white robes untouched by even the slightest stain despite the endless massacre, and holding a long sword that perfectly matched his appearance, a young man could be seen walking calmly through the night.

A white mask concealed his face, making him radiate an aura of purity and righteousness.

Yet everyone could still feel the overwhelming intent to kill surrounding him.

Just like the Butcher...

The Monarch of Death had also arrived at the cold moon district.
