Chapter 23: Void Clone

The moment Amon gave the order, the system screen flashed, and a new line of words appeared before him.

[Congratulations on signing in, you have received Narlock Robes.]

[Narlock Robes: A set of white robes that can be repaired instantly with the infusion of mana. As long as they aren’t completely destroyed in a single attack, they can regenerate back to perfection.]

Seeing the description, Amon’s eyes flickered slightly.

As long as he wasn’t erased in a single strike, these robes were practically impossible to destroy.

At last, he wouldn’t need to keep replacing ruined clothes after every battle.

Just then, a faint ripple spread through the air.

Instantly, a young man with an identical build to his own appeared before him.

The young man had long black hair, but his face was completely blank.

No eyes. No nose. No mouth.

And despite appearing unnaturally fragile, as though his body might scatter apart at any moment, the aura radiating from him steadily climbed higher and higher until it nearly matched Amon’s own.

Amon narrowed his eyes slightly.

"This is the Void Clone?"

[Do you wish to equip the Void Clone with the Narlock Robes?]

Only then did Amon realize the clone was completely naked.

The sight felt strangely uncomfortable.

Agreeing silently, he accepted the prompt.

Instantly, the white robes vanished from his hands and reappeared around the clone’s body, covering him entirely.

Amon observed him quietly for a moment.

Aside from the blank face, the clone carried almost the exact same presence as him.

For the first time since arriving in this world, the suffocating pressure weighing on Amon’s mind eased slightly.

Not because he had grown stronger.

But because he was no longer completely alone.

The system chimed once more.

[Do you wish to assign skills to the Void Clone?]

Amon considered it briefly before dismissing the notification.

He possessed too few worthwhile abilities right now.

Giving the clone mediocre skills would only weaken its overall usefulness.

"For now, you’ll fight with your hands alone."

The clone remained motionless.

Amon studied him for another second before speaking again.

"Moon."

The clone tilted its head slightly.

"That’ll be your name."

"Can you think independently?" Amon asked.

The clone nodded once.

"Good."

Amon turned toward the dungeon exit.

"Come with me. I’ll show you where you’ll stay for now."

The two stepped outside together.

The instant they exited, the dungeon collapsed behind them and dissolved into particles of black light before disappearing completely. fɾēewebnσveℓ.com

Amon brought Moon toward the abandoned warehouse where he usually stored equipment for the Butcher.

The warehouse was silent, dim, and hidden well enough from wandering eyes.

After giving the clone a few simple instructions and deciding he’d buy a mask for him later, Amon finally prepared to leave.

Naturally, Moon complied without resistance.

Only then did Amon finally head home after an exhausting day.

...

Deep within a forest overrun by monsters, an abandoned factory stood hidden beneath the darkness.

Inside the factory, a massive creature slowly opened its eyes.

At the same moment, hurried footsteps echoed through the building.

A human entered.

The man wore a torn military coat stained with dried blood, while deep exhaustion lingered beneath his eyes as though he hadn’t slept properly in weeks.

"Beast Emperor," the human called out uneasily.

"I just received news that one of the low-ranking Inhumans stationed within a human city has been killed."

Silence filled the factory.

The man immediately felt his heartbeat accelerate.

Cold sweat trickled down his neck.

Standing before this creature felt like sinking beneath an endless ocean.

"Which city?"

Its voice was low and steady.

Not angered.

Not surprised.

As though the destruction of human lives held no greater meaning than shifting pieces across a board.

"We don’t know the exact city yet," the man answered carefully. "But we’ve narrowed down the general region."

The Beast Emperor remained silent briefly before speaking once more.

"Send one hundred Inhumans there."

A pause.

"Erase the city."

The human’s pupils constricted violently.

"One hundred...?"

His fingers trembled uncontrollably.

This Beast Emperor was completely different from the others.

Several years ago, it had abducted human researchers and forced them to participate in Project Zero, an experiment focused on merging monsters and humans into a superior species.

And horrifyingly...

The project had succeeded.

"Your Emperor..." the man said through clenched teeth. "Can you spare them?"

The Beast Emperor slowly turned its head toward him.

That single movement caused every instinct within the man’s body to erupt in terror.

Run.

Run immediately.

Then the Beast Emperor gave a cold snort.

Blood exploded from the man’s mouth.

He collapsed heavily onto his knees, panic flooding his face.

"Mercy, Your Emperor... mercy!"

"Do not question my orders."

Its tone remained indifferent.

Like a ruler correcting an insignificant mistake.

The pressure suffocating the factory slowly receded.

The man immediately lowered his head repeatedly before stumbling away from the Beast Emperor’s chamber.

Soon, he arrived at a massive underground warehouse hidden beneath the factory itself.

Rows upon rows of humanoid creatures stood motionless within the darkness.

Every single one radiated terrifying pressure.

Even the weakest among them had reached C-rank.

"The Beast Emperor has issued its command," the man announced heavily.

"Deploy one hundred B-rank Inhumans to the southern region."

The surrounding creatures immediately began moving.

Yet the human’s face only grew paler.

Because he knew the truth.

The Beast Emperor had originally intended to send A-ranks.

And beyond them...

There were still the ten S-rank Inhumans hidden within Project Zero.

Monsters powerful enough to reduce entire cities to graveyards overnight.

The man stared at the silent army before him, his hands trembling faintly.

One hundred B-ranks.

And this was still only the beginning.
