Chapter 121: Mysterious Egg

The mountain range passed by them as they slowly made their way deeper and deeper, and they slowly descended.

The three subordinates of Ryael were quietly walking behind, occasionally glancing at Emperal through the corner of their eyes.

Emperal walked beside Ryael with the Evilmoon hanging arrogantly behind him. The plain below wasn’t empty. Hundreds of tents were built, arranged in step-by-step concentric rings. It wasn’t chaotic in the least, instead, it was a well-organized settlement.

Cultivators moved with leisure pace, the explorers continuously searched for resources. While the gatherers brought hundreds of materials and treasures every few hours.

At the center, a single pavilion stood out. It was larger than the rest with golden fabric shining on it.

"This is...impressive"

Emperal muttered when he saw how organised these people were in this chaotic realm. Where the value of life was as low as the grass on the ground.

Solmere had perfectly controlled its death ratio.

Yes, counting a few dozen out on missions or such. There were close to a hundred cultivators working and sorting here.

This may seem wasteful in a realm full of treasures. But the way Solmere’s cultivators operated, was on a totally different level.

Ryael chuckled when he heard Emperal.

"You haven’t met the leader yet"

He spoke with a small smile on his face. Soon, the four crossed the outer ring. Cultivators paused as they saw a new face. Not to mention that ominous-looking sword stood out like a sore thumb.

But...did Emperal care about their thoughts? No, was he scared they would attack him? Hell no.

Ryael and the leading force of this delegation had been ’personally’ visited by Soleine and were given generous instructions.

Thinking about Soleine, a small smile bloomed on Emperal’s face. "Man, I miss that woman"

He thought inwardly.

Soon they reached the pavilion, and the entrance opened before Emperal could even knock. Taking this as a sign, Emperal walked inside unhesitatingly.

Behind, Ryael followed. The rest of the three scattered as soon as they joined the territory.

Entering inside, Emperal’s gaze fell on a beautiful figure at the end of the room. She had white-golden hair and deep green eyes. The colour of her hair and the colour of her...really complemented each other.

The moment Emperal stepped inside, the woman slowly turned around. freewebnovёl.ƈom

"Well, well, isn’t this our Second commander? The Darling of the Empress herself"

The golden-white haired woman, Thyra...chuckled in a low voice.

Emperal returned the smile, "It’s a pleasure to meet you, Miss Thyra"

He didn’t call her leader, not yet.

Thyra walked forward with a smile on her face, waving her hand. She gestured to them to sit.

"Come, sit down. Let’s discuss the current affairs"

On a small round table, three cups of tea were served as Emperal leaned back and drank the tea.

"So? Ryael. Give me the updates on what you have found"

Thyra spoke, tilting her head.

"Yes, Leader"

Ryael nodded and slowly recollected everything that had happened. Thyra listened to everything without a change in her expression, only giving some occasional nods.

A few minutes later, Thyra looked at Emperal with a new shine in her eyes.

"Color me impressed, Emperal. I always thought the Empress was a bit biased towards you whenever she spoke about you. But, hearing this news from Ryael made me rethink"

Thyra gave an honest compliment; after all, it was the first time she had heard a Verth Seeker kill two peak Verth Wielders and return alive.

Emperal smiled when he heard the praise, "You flatter me, Miss Thyra, it wasn’t much of a big deal"

This might sound natural in Emperal’s ears, but the same words sounded sky-high arrogant in both Ryael and Thyra’s eyes.

Ryael smiled lightly as Thyra’s eyebrow twitched. But, she refrained from commenting.

"Mind if I ask what you obtained in the cave?"

Thyra leaned forward and finally asked the important matter. She was really curious to know what made Ryael so desperate and eager for this treasure that he was even willing to risk the relationships between Solmere and the Stormhorn dragons.

"Sure, here it is"

Saying that, Emperal waved his hand, under the surprised eyes of the duo. A large egg materialized on the table.

"This...was the treasure?"

Thyra muttered as she glanced at Ryael. Who was looking at the egg intently?

"Yes, this was the egg I saw inside the cave. Before I was locked in a fight with that bastard Theron"

Ryael spoke as he gently traced the surface of the egg. Despite looking like the most ordinary egg, it had shine and smoothness to it, unlike anything else.

Thyra looked closely at the egg, searching for the ’speciality’ Ryael spoke so highly of. But even after a couple of minutes.

There was...nothing out of the ordinary. Even its aura was nothing special.

Thyra sighed and looked at Emperal, who was busy inspecting the egg.

"Do you know anything about this egg Emperal?"

She asked, hoping for Emperal to have an answer.

But unfortunately for her, he too shook his head and sighed. But, suddenly, his gaze dropped on the egg.

"Miss Thyra, even though I do not have any answers. Why don’t we try and find that out with the egg itself"

He spoke, his words surprising Thyra and Ryael.

"What do you mean, Emperal?"

Ryael asked, his tone laced with confusion.

"I meant that we will try to open it through different means"

Emperal said, further confusing the duo.

"What does ’different’ mean? Emperal, if we knew any such mean, we would have already opened it by now"

Thyra spoke.

"Hmm, first let’s go with the most basic one. Any one of you two, drop some blood on the egg"

Emperal spoke, pointing at the greyish shining surface.

"Well...we might as well try that"

First to go was, obviously, Ryael. He cut open his thumb with his sharp claws.

Drip. Drip. Drip.

A few drops of blood dripped on the egg, and both Thyra and Emperal waited for something to happen.

But unfortunately, even after several minutes, nothing happened. Ryael’s blood smoothly slid down on the ground.

He shook his head and sighed.

"Well, it seems I failed. Lady Thyra, why don’t you give it a try?"

He spoke, prompting Thyra to nod.

"Well, here goes nothing"

Saying that, she cut open her thumb and dropped her blood on the egg. The moment it dropped on the egg.

Nothing happened...well, that’s what everyone thought.

Then Emperal’s eyes suddenly widened.
