Chapter 319: Chapter 317: The Real Danger (4)
The figure that appeared was Javier Sinclair. So that’s where he’d gone—to catch this thing. The tentacle in his hand looked as if it had been ripped straight out of thin air.
Before her eyes, a colossal shadow slowly emerged, blotting out the sun. Countless tentacles stretched out in all directions, some even reaching down to take root in the ground.
Celeste Grant frowned slightly and said, "What is this? It looks so much like an octopus, but octopuses don’t have this many tentacles, do they?"
The dense mass of tentacles blotted out the sky, appearing to occupy every corner of the Cultivation World. Most importantly, this tentacle monster had somehow managed to evade the perception of all cultivators and secretly take root here. ’If no one had discovered it, this would have surely become another major catastrophe.’
The people of the Cultivation World could only stare in shock.
Some cultivators felt their skin crawl and a wave of nausea as they watched the writhing tentacles. So many of them... it was enough to trigger anyone’s trypophobia.
"What the hell is that thing?"
"It’s enormous!"
someone exclaimed in awe.
Another person said.
"This thing looks a lot like an Octopus Demon Beast. They both have huge bodies and tentacles, but this one has way too many! It’s blotting out the sun... I’m getting goosebumps just looking at it."
Just then, someone pointed up at the sky. They turned to the cultivator beside them and said, "Look! The thing has a human face, but the silhouette is hideous. A human-shaped face on a thing like that... It’s even uglier than that human-faced scorpion."
These Outer Realms Races just kept getting uglier, and this tentacle monster was ugly on a whole new level.
Can you imagine an octopus-like creature with the silhouette of a human face and thousands upon thousands of writhing tentacles? It was unbearable.
Celeste watched the face materialize in the sky amidst the writhing mass, and felt like her eyes were about to bleed.
It was truly ugly beyond belief.
’If something like this had appeared in her old world,’ Celeste Grant thought, ’it would have been called an alien invasion.’
Then again, this was pretty much the same thing. The Outer Realms Races were lifeforms from outside the Cultivation World. In a way, they *were* aliens.
’Perhaps beyond the Cultivation World, there are countless other realms I don’t know about. So where, in all of that, is my Earth?’
At that moment, Nina Kaye, who was standing beside Celeste Grant, also had her eyes wide with shock.
She pointed at the enormous tentacles, her fists clenching as she saw the Origin Power flowing above them.
Nina Kaye’s face was a mask of fury as she pointed at the tentacled monstrosity. "You despicable, ugly thing! Get your filthy limbs off of it! You goddamn monster, who said you could absorb this world’s Origin Power? Did I say you could?! I’m going to chop you into pieces and feed you to the dogs!"
The world’s origin was the very core of the Cultivation World. If it were drained dry, this world would suffer from the depletion of Spiritual Energy, gradually descend into an End of Dharma Era, and eventually face complete annihilation.
Even she only took a few normal breaths of it each day to enhance her strength, which had no impact on the world.
’I’ve never even considered draining the world’s origin, but this race from the Outer Realms just shows up, takes root, and tries to suck the Origin Power of the Cultivation World dry? How detestable!’
"Lowly cultivators of Humanity, release me at once! Otherwise, when my people arrive—"
The tentacle monster had barely spoken when a bloodcurdling scream erupted from it.
"AHHHH! STOP! YOU—STOP!"
Flames erupted from the tentacle Javier Sinclair was holding. In an instant, the sky above the entire Cultivation World was engulfed in a sea of fire. The sun-blotting tentacle monster was incinerated in moments, turning to ash in mid-air.
At that moment.
The people of the Cultivation World raised their arms and cheered.
"The Exalted One!"
"The Exalted One!"
Some even took out their phones to take pictures.
In a Cultivation World where the strong were revered, the forces of the Demonic Path, centered around the Bloodfiend Den, were the most fanatical of all.
Celeste Grant chuckled.
"Look at the archvillain, he has so many fans!"
After killing the last of the invading Outer Realms Race, Javier Sinclair appeared beside Celeste Grant in a flash.
He glanced at her, then reached out and took her hand. "Celeste, you’re not hurt, are you?"
Celeste Grant shook her head slightly. "I’m fine! Not a scratch on me."
His gaze swept over her, landing on her arm where her vestment robe was torn. A bloody scratch was visible on her skin.
"And you say you’re not hurt? What’s this?" ƒreeωebnovel.ƈom
Following his gaze, Celeste Grant glanced at her arm and laughed. "This little thing? If you’d noticed it any later, it probably would have healed on its own."
It was just a scratch she’d gotten from the blue monster’s claws during the fight. With her current physical strength, it had barely broken the skin. In fact, the monster’s spike-like claws had been the ones to break.
"Not even a little scratch is acceptable."
As he spoke, he placed his hand on her arm and gently stroked it. The wound on Celeste Grant’s arm healed completely.
"Thank you, my dear husband. You’re so good to me."
He gave a faint, smug smile and a soft "hmph." "When have I ever been anything but good to you?"
Celeste Grant took his hand.
"That’s true, you never have."
Smiling, she wrapped her arms around his waist.
Suddenly, Celeste Grant felt the ground begin to shake, and an immense suction force emanated from the sky above.
"Do you feel that? Something’s wrong."
Javier Sinclair wrapped an arm around her waist as they both looked up at the sky. They could sense a power at work, repairing the fractured void.
It was the Power of Providence.
The fissure began to slowly seal itself shut. Just when they thought it was all over, the ground of the Cultivation World began to tremble. The nearly-repaired rift in the sky suddenly shattered and broke wide open.
The gaping void rift grew larger and larger.
Countless mountains, trees, and cultivators on the ground were being pulled up toward it.
"Help me...!"
"I can’t control my body!"
"AHHH... I’m going to die! Someone save my worthless hide!"
Those with lower cultivation levels were already being lifted into the sky. If they were swept into the void rift, death was certain. ’With a pull this strong, there might be a storm of chaotic spacetime beyond that rift.’
Tearing a hole in the sky was indeed a grave matter. It turned out the invasion of the Outer Realms Race wasn’t the Cultivation World’s true calamity after all.
Celeste Grant’s heart leaped into her throat.
She had no time to think. Gathering her cultivation, she reached out and pulled back the cultivators who had been swept into the sky.
Javier Sinclair, meanwhile, extended a hand. A ceaseless torrent of power flowed from his body, locking down the space around them. The suction force vanished, and the world stabilized. The people of the Cultivation World were safe for now, but if the sky couldn’t be mended, the root of the problem would remain.
As powerful as his cultivation was, he had not yet reached a level where he could mend the heavens themselves.
At this, Javier Sinclair looked up at the sky and called out, "Heavenly Dao! I can only keep the Cultivation World from collapsing temporarily. You need to find a way to mend this void rift, and quickly!"
The Heavenly Dao manifested.
It was a mass of golden clouds.
A majestic, yet anxious, voice resounded from it. "I have tried! Even if I exhaust all my power, I cannot mend it. Not unless I have a Heart of Origin."
Celeste Grant asked, "What is that?"
