Chapter 75: Chapter 75

Emily’s POV

I stared at Kyra, who’s watching me while sitting in the driver’s seat.

My wolf, Nova, snarled in my mind. "She’s stronger than she looks. Her pup will survive."

She looked exhausted, but I could no longer see the fear that was in her eyes last night. I started the engine and drove away, jamming the earbud in with more force than necessary as I called someone.

"Hello?"

"I’m leaving her now. She’s secured at the safehouse," I growled into the phone.

The voice on the other end crackled with barely contained panic. "Is she hurt? Did Carver’s enforcers catch her scent?"

"For fuck’s sake, I told you twelve hours ago—not a scratch on her," I snapped, peeling away from the curb. Through the side mirror, I caught Kyra’s silhouette shrinking in the distance.

I heard him sigh in relief. I just shook my head and smirked.

"You treated her well?" The voice turned dangerous. "I’m telling you, if you don’t, I’ll come after you."

Nova bared her teeth in my mind. He dares threaten us?

"Oh, piss off," I snarled, swerving around a pothole. "You think I’d let some pregnant she-wolf get mauled? You think I’m that heartless? She was so scared last night. If you saw her face while running away from that bastard, you’d pity her. She was shaking like a leaf when I found her." The memory of Kyra’s tear-streaked face flashed behind my eyes—the way her fingers had trembled around her swollen belly.

"Just keep her hidden from Carver." The command rolled through the phone with Alpha undertones.

I rolled my eyes so hard it hurt. "Yeah, yeah. Now about my fucking car—"

"Find it in the river."

My eyes widened in shock. "What the hell?"

"I’m hanging up now."

"What river, you bastard? Where is it? HEY—" The dial tone mocked me. Nova howled curses as I slammed my fists against the steering wheel. Two hundred thousand dollars’ worth of custom modifications—GONE.

My car! Oh my god! Damn it!

I drove the whole day and finally got home. The house reeked of dominance and old money. I went straight to the kitchen to drink some water when one of my father’s warriors materialized at my elbow.

"Alpha demands your presence," he muttered, eyes downcast.

Nova bristled. Trouble.

I shrugged lazily and went to my dad’s office. I found them in the study—my father perched behind his mahogany desk, and HIM lounging on the leather couch like he owned the place.

My lips parted in shock.

Kieran Carver.

His scent hit me first—cedar and blood and that fucking Alpha musk that made weaker wolves whimper.

Dad and he were sitting across from each other on the couch and were talking until I barged in unannounced.

"Where have you been, Emily?" My father’s voice could have frozen lava.

Nova snarled as I sauntered in, deliberately swinging my hips. "Let him choke on his suspicions."

"Out hunting," I purred, dropping onto the couch opposite Kieran. My skirt rode up, exposing thigh. "Though not the kind you’re thinking of, Daddy dearest."

Kieran’s blue eyes tracked the movement—not with lust, but with calculation.

"To whom do I owe this visit, honey? Did you miss me?"

He clenched his jaw. His eyes were sharp and deadly but he could no longer scare me. I’d seen the worst in him. I wasn’t scared anymore.

"I’m asking you, Emily. Where have you been?"

I looked at my dad and smirked. "I’m trying to find a man who can satisfy my needs because someone doesn’t want to do that for me."

My father’s fist hit the desk. "Mind your tongue!"

I licked my lips, watching Kieran’s jaw tighten. "Hmm. You’re silent. Cat got your tongue, Alpha?" I crooned. "Or just remembering how good my tongue feels elsewhere?"

The air crackled with tension.

"Enough!" My father turned to Kieran with that ass-kissing smile I hated. "Shut up, Emily. Sorry for her rude behavior, Kieran. Forgive her... spirited nature. Once you’re mated, she’ll learn obedience."

Nova and I nearly choked on the lie.

My forehead creased as I turned to Dad, shocked. "Mated? What are you talking about, Dad?"

Because if Kieran thought for one second I’d bow to him as mate, he was dumber than he looked.

And right now? With Kyra’s scent still clinging to his clothes?

He looked plenty fucking dumb.

Nova, my wolf, let out a vicious snarl in my mind. ‘Mating? With THAT monster? Over my dead body!’

I whirled toward my father. "Mating? Have you lost your damn mind?"

My father’s Alpha aura rolled through the study like thunder. "This isn’t a request, Emily. I don’t like seeing you fooling around, and I chose Kieran as your mate. The alliance between our two rogue factions will be cemented through your mating bond."

"What?"

"I know what you have been doing, Emily! You’re rebelling against me again and the only way to stop you is to marry you off to someone I trust." frёewebηovel.cѳm

I laughed like crazy inside my head. He trusts Kieran? The man who murders his own kin for power?

"What makes you think I’d ever agree to this?"

The coffee table exploded under my father’s fist, wood splinters embedding in the walls. "Because I am your Alpha!" His dominance pressed against me like a vice. "You’ll mate with whomever I choose, or I’ll strip your rank and cast you out as rogue!"

Nova whimpered at the threat, but I stood my ground.

He doesn’t want someone opposing him. He doesn’t want someone embarrassing him. He’s a self-centered man just like Kieran and I’ve loathed him from the very first time he intervened in my personal life.

"I’m doing you a favor, Emily. I’m trying to fix your messy life by marrying you off to someone respectable and powerful. I don’t want any weak, dumb, low-profile douchebag for you so I’m choosing the perfect man. You will marry him or you’ll face my wrath for the rest of your life."

I pressed my lips together as I looked at him, resentful. I didn’t even have a choice to decide who to love or what’s best for myself. He saw me as his valuable possession. He was just using me to broaden his connections and strengthen his power. Unfortunately for him, the man he’s trusting is beyond evil. He’s cunning and will never let anyone rise above him.

Kieran watched us like a spectator at a blood sport, his blue eyes gleaming with amusement. I could practically smell the calculation rolling off him—this was all part of his game.

"You’re not doing good for me," I hissed, rounding on my father. "You’re auctioning me off to expand your territory and fatten the wallets of your rogue gang!"

My father’s lip curled. "Be grateful I chose someone worthy. Kieran’s bloodline is impeccable—his power unmatched."

Nova growled. His bloodline reeks of treachery and death.

Kieran finally spoke. "Your father’s right, Emily." He rose slowly, his massive frame casting shadows across my father’s desk. "Together, our rogue packs will rule from these lands to the farthest territories—no border will hold us back."

The promise in his tone made my fur stand on end.

"Bullshit," I snarled. "You just want access to my father’s rogue faction to hunt down—" I barely stopped myself before saying Kyra’s name.

Kieran’s smile turned feral. "To hunt down... who exactly, Emily?"

My father slammed his palm on the ruined table. "Enough! Tomorrow, I announce the mating ceremony before the public. This will strengthen our authority across the territories, Kieran. The merging of our rogue factions will bring fear to other packs. I will be more powerful and my authority will spread to your region and the same goes for you." His glare pinned me in place. "You WILL comply."

Nova howled in protest as I stormed out, but my mind was already racing.

Because Kieran wasn’t after an alliance—he needed my father’s rogue warriors to comb every inch of territory for Kyra.

I saw how Kieran’s lips curved into a devilish smirk. I knew that was his plan all along, but I wouldn’t let him use me the way he wanted.
