Chapter 66: Chapter 66
Kyra’s POV freёwebnoѵel.com
I was lying on the bed with Kieran beside me, his strong arms wrapped possessively around me, his fingers tracing idle patterns along the curve of my waist. Under the thick blanket, I was only wearing my panties and Kieran’s shirt—the faint scent of cedar and musk from his wolf clinging to the fabric, a constant reminder of his dominance. We had been awake for five minutes, but I had no desire to move. The warmth of his body, the steady rhythm of his heartbeat beneath my ear—it was intoxicating, a comfort I rarely allowed myself to indulge in. Besides, I was sure Dad was still asleep. The house was quiet, the early morning light barely filtering through the curtains.
Sylvia, my wolf, stirred lazily in my mind, her voice a soft hum. "You’re getting too comfortable, Kyra. Father’s intense reaction toward Amanda was unusual. We still need to investigate this further."
I ignored her. I knew what I had to do, but right now all I wanted was to savor this moment of peace with Kieran.
Kieran’s hand slid lower, his touch featherlight as it traced over my stomach. "What are you thinking?" he murmured, his voice rough with sleep.
I hesitated. The question had been nagging at me since last night. "Were you always this busy?"
His fingers stilled for a fraction of a second before resuming their slow exploration. "I need to take care of your father’s company, Kyra."
Speaking of Dad, I remembered Amanda’s venomous words. Lifting my face, I met Kieran’s piercing gaze, my chin resting against the hard planes of his chest. "Amanda mentioned Dad has debts. Do you know about that?"
His eyes darkened, the gold flecks in them sharpening like a predator catching sight of prey. "Don’t listen to her."
I swallowed hard, my fingers curling into the sheets. "But I want to know. Is she telling the truth, Kieran?"
He exhaled sharply, his fingers threading through my hair in a gesture that was equal parts soothing and possessive. "That’s why I’m busy. I’m doing everything I can to save your father’s company."
I was shocked and sad at the same time. I couldn’t speak. My throat tightened as I stared at him, searching for any sign of deception. Kieran sighed again, his lips brushing against my forehead in a kiss that felt like both an apology and a comfort.
"This is why I couldn’t tell you. I knew you’d be worried."
I forced a shaky breath. "Can I do something to help? I worked in a company before. Maybe I can—"
He cut me off with a firm shake of his head, his thumb stroking my cheek. "I can handle this. Just focus on yourself and your father. Don’t worry about anything."
I wanted to argue, but the weight of his command—the unspoken Alpha authority—settled over me. Instead, I managed a small smile. "What would I do without you?"
His lips curved in response, but there was something dangerous in his gaze, something that made my pulse stutter. He leaned in, capturing my mouth in a slow, deliberate kiss. I melted against him, my body responding before my mind could protest. His palm slid lower, cupping my backside with possessiveness.
When he finally pulled away, his voice was rough. "What are your plans for today?"
"Hmm... I want Dad to get some fresh air."
"Take him to the garden."
"That’s what I was thinking," I murmured, my lips still tingling from his kiss.
Kieran’s eyes burned into mine as his hands continued their lazy exploration beneath the blanket. "I need to go to the company again. You should stay at home. If you need anything, tell the maid—or call me."
I arched a brow. "I can just go out if I need something, Kieran. I don’t need to disturb you."
His grip tightened imperceptibly. "Babe, you’re not a disturbance." His voice dropped, the growl in it unmistakable. "You’re my responsibility. And I always want you safe—because I love you."
Sylvia huffed, reluctant pleasure. "He says that now. But what happens when his priorities shift?"
I swallowed hard, nodding. "Fine."
He chuckled, pressing a kiss to the tip of my nose. "I love your smile."
"You’re making me smile again."
Another low laugh, and then—without warning—he hauled me up, settling me astride his hips.
"Kieran!" I gasped as the hard length of him pressed insistently against me, even through the thin barrier of my panties. He was still completely naked, and the heat of his skin seared into mine.
His smirk was pure arrogance. "That’s normal, babe. What’s not normal is me—losing my damn mind over you. I think you put a spell on me."
I rolled my eyes, but my cheeks burned. "Silly."
His expression shifted then, the playfulness fading into something far more intense. "Marry me."
Silence.
My breath caught. I stared at him, my heart pounding so loudly I was sure he could hear it. His eyes held mine, unreadable emotions swirling in their depths—love, yes, and something else I couldn’t recognize.
Sylvia went utterly still. "Kyra..."
I didn’t know what to say.
"Kieran..."
My breath hitched as he lifted my hand, his fingers brushing over my knuckles with possessiveness. The weight of his Alpha aura pressed against me, thick with intent, as he slowly slid a ring onto my finger—a stunning diamond promise ring, its brilliance catching the dim morning light.
Sylvia stirred, "Just a ring? He’s marking his claim without even a proper mating bond."
I ignored her, my focus locked onto Kieran’s face—his blue eyes burning with an intensity that made my pulse stutter.
"Marry me, Kyra." His voice was rough, edged with something desperate. "I swear on the Moon Goddess, I’ll love you until my last breath. You’ll always come first—before the pack, before everything. I won’t ever let you go."
Tears welled in my eyes. There was vulnerability in his words, a fear that I might slip through his fingers. And how could I refuse? He had pieced me back together after my past shattered me, made me believe in love again.
"Of course I will," I whispered, my voice trembling.
He pressed a kiss to the ring, then dragged me closer, his mouth claiming mine in a kiss that was equal parts tender and possessive.
"You’ll never be alone again," he murmured against my lips, his hands sliding down to grip my hips. "Wherever you go, I follow. That’s how this works."
I smiled against his lips and moaned as I felt his fingers hook into the side of my panties and, without warning, he slowly pushed his length inside me, filling me to the brim. The stretch burned, the friction igniting a fire that consumed every rational thought. frёewebnoѵel.ƈo๓
I bit my bottom lip as he held my waist and guided me to slowly move up and down his length, earning a lustful moan from me.
"Fuck, Kyra," he gritted out, his hands tightening on my waist. "You feel like mine."
And I was. In that moment, with his body claiming mine, I believed it.
I was beyond happy. I hadn’t known this would happen to me. Kieran revived my heart that had died a thousand times because of my painful past. Kieran gave me hope. Kieran gave me another reason to love. It was him. I really thought it was him who’s meant to be with me until the end. I really hoped it was him because I had fallen for him, deeply fallen.
Kieran had left for the shower, leaving me blissfully sore and tangled in the sheets.
I went downstairs for some food. I saw Amanda at the dining table again, eating elegantly. She was elegant, beautiful, but I still didn’t like her.
I moved toward the fridge, ignoring her—until her laugh cut through the silence.
"You seem... thoroughly enjoyed," she purred, her gaze raking over me with mock sympathy. "And here I thought you cared about your father."
Irritation flared hot in my chest. Sylvia bared her teeth in my mind. "She reeks of jealousy. Pathetic."
"What’s your problem?" I snapped, turning to face her fully.
She rose, her heels clicking against the floor as she stepped into my space. "You’re shameless. Fucking your own stepbrother? Even for a wolf, that’s low."
What was it to her? Kieran and I were not blood related anyway. There was nothing wrong with our relationship. I gritted my teeth as my eyes sharpened. "We’re not blood-related. And last I checked, you were the one fucking my dying father for his money. Why don’t you just mind your own business, Amanda?"
Amanda’s eyes flashed gold—a warning. "This family is my business now. Do you really think the pack will accept this? A Luna who spreads her legs for her own kin?"
I laughed, sharp and cold. "Funny. I don’t recall accepting you into this family."
"You bitch—" Her hand flew up, but before it could connect, a large, familiar hand caught her wrist in a grip that could snap bone.
Kieran, standing beside me, was holding Amanda’s wrist, stopping her attempt to hurt me.
Kieran clenched his jaw and looked at her dangerously. "Don’t you dare lay even a single finger on her or you’ll regret it."
Amanda wrenched free, her lips curling. "You think you’ve won?" she hissed at me. Then, leaning closer, her whisper was a venomous promise. "Watch your back, little wolf. You’re playing with fire—and you don’t even know who’s holding the match."
