Chapter 216: Chapter 216

Kyra’s POV

I stared at the blood splattered across the road.

A car screeched to a halt in front of me, and Nathan jumped out, rushing toward me with panic written all over his face.

He pulled me into his arms, his minty scent surrounding me.

"Were you hurt?" he whispered, his voice rough with worry.

I shook my head against his chest before looking up. "Nathan, it’s Sophia..."

His jaw clenched as he hugged me tighter. "I’m just glad you’re okay."

"She tried to push me," I admitted.

Nathan cursed under his breath, his fingers threading through my hair in a soothing motion. I squeezed my eyes shut and swallowed hard.

When he pulled back, he removed his coat and draped it over my shoulders, covering the coffee stains that had soaked through my blouse. After returning the towel to the police officer, he swept me into his arms and carried me to his car.

"Where are we going?" I asked.

"We need to get you checked. You said she tried to push you. Your body went through stress."

Though I didn’t feel any discomfort, I nodded in agreement.

The drive to the hospital was silent, my mind replaying the confrontation with Sophia. I couldn’t believe she had actually tried to harm me and my baby.

"Kyra!" Matt’s voice broke through my thoughts as he entered the emergency room, white lab coat flapping behind him.

"Are you okay? What did your ob-gyn say?" frёeωebɳovel.com

"I’m fine," I reassured him with a small smile. "My doctor said the baby’s safe."

Matt closed his eyes briefly, his jaw clenched tight before he looked at me again, gently caressing my hand.

He glanced at Nathan standing protectively beside me before sighing.

"You should be careful. Why did you even go out? You could have asked your secretary or your guard to buy you coffee."

"I wanted to buy it myself," I explained. "Besides, I’m fine."

He groaned, shaking his head. "You’re really so stubborn. You’re just like Emily and Mason."

I smirked at the comparison before reaching for Nathan’s hand. After taking a deep breath, I asked the question weighing on my mind.

"How’s Sophia? She was brought to this hospital, right?"

Matt nodded grimly. "She’s undergoing surgery. Her injuries are severe."

I pressed my lips together, guilt washing over me despite everything.

Nathan squeezed my hand. "Hey, it’s not your fault."

"I know," I replied, meeting his gaze. "I just... couldn’t believe this happened."

Matt took my other hand, drawing my attention. "I’ll make sure she survives so you won’t feel guilty."

"Thank you, Matt."

He nodded, kissed my forehead, and left us alone.

Nathan stepped in front of me, cupping my face gently to make our eyes meet.

"She won’t hurt you again," he promised.

That day was a disaster, but I survived it safely.

True to Matt’s word, he ensured Sophia’s survival. He later informed me that after surgery, she was sent to the ICU and would be transferred to a private room within a week.

"She’s under arrest," Nathan told me one evening as we sat in our living room. "Two police officers are guarding her hospital room."

I looked up in surprise. "You filed charges against her?" freeweɓnovēl.coɱ

Nathan nodded, his expression hardening. "For what she did to both of us. I’ve been wanting to put her behind bars, but her trying to kill you and our baby..."

His fists clenched. "I lost my cool."

"You smell angry," Sylvia observed within me. "But there’s relief too."

"I am relieved," I silently responded. "Our baby is safe. That’s all that matters."

One sunny morning a few weeks later, Nathan surprised me at my office with chocolate ice cream, my latest pregnancy craving.

As I eagerly accepted the treat, he handed me a small card.

My heart raced as I realized what I was holding.

"A wedding invitation?" I gasped, looking up at him in surprise.

He smiled, resting his hands on the armrests of my couch. Leaning forward, he kissed me passionately before nodding.

"I told you I’m marrying you again after all this mess."

My smile widened as my heart fluttered in my chest. The way he looked at me, with such deep affection, made me feel like the most cherished woman in the world.

"Thank you," I whispered, reaching up to kiss him again.

I felt him smile against my lips as our kisses deepened.

Suddenly, the door swung open, and Yara froze in the doorway. She immediately turned and retreated, closing the door behind her.

Nathan chuckled while heat flooded my cheeks. I’d completely forgotten to tell Yara not to enter my office today.

"This is what we prepared before everything happened," Nathan explained, gesturing to the invitation.

The card announced our wedding. It would be an elegant affair that would invite all the prominent Alpha and Beta pairs from surrounding packs. It would be a celebration of our bond, stronger now after everything we’d endured.

"A third wedding?" I mused. "Why not? I’d love to marry you for the third time in this lifetime."

Nathan wrapped his arms around my waist as I buried my face against his chest. Contentment washed over me, pure and complete.

With him and the people I loved surrounding me, I couldn’t ask for anything more. This was the life I wanted. Not wealth or status, but love and family. They were my greatest treasures.

"I can’t wait to be yours officially in front of everyone," I whispered against his chest. "No more doubts, no more uncertainties."

"You’ve always been mine," Nathan murmured, his lips brushing against my hair. "And I’ve always been yours."
