Chapter 205: Chapter 205
Kyra’s POV
As Kieran disappeared from my sight, I took a sharp breath and shook my head. Seeing the hurt in his eyes and the tension in his shoulders as he walked away, I realized how much my words had wounded him.
Maybe I shouldn’t have called him cold blooded. Kieran had changed a lot since before, and he was really trying to help us now. But Emily’s disappearance had me so upset that my fear was eating up any clear thinking.
But I couldn’t make myself apologize. The words got stuck in my throat and wouldn’t come out.
I got that he was worried about me, but he couldn’t keep doing this. Emily needed him. As her husband, he should be protecting her. Sure, their relationship wasn’t normal. There was no love between them, more like something based on duty. But he couldn’t abandon her again. No matter what, she was his wife now.
Connor Foster had gotten so crazy that he was openly shooting at us on public roads. I couldn’t stand to think what insane things he might do if he caught Emily while she was helpless and without her memory.
Sylvia moved restlessly in my mind. "I can feel the danger getting closer, Kyra. We don’t have much time."
"Calm down," Nathan whispered. He pulled me close, gently kissing my temple. "Take it easy. Kieran will find her. He knows Emily better than any of us, and he has lots of resources."
"I can’t believe what just happened. Emily’s in danger too, and here I am fighting with Kieran."
"I know you’re worried about her," he said softly, then gently pulled me down to sit next to him. His hand rubbed my back, trying to calm my nerves.
I closed my eyes and pressed hard on the bridge of my nose, trying to ease my headache. Just then, my phone suddenly rang.
My forehead wrinkled when I saw the unknown number. I looked at Nathan with worry, and as one possibility hit me, my heart started racing.
"Could it be him?" I whispered.
Nathan’s face got serious right away. "Put it on speaker."
With shaking hands, I answered the call and turned on the speakerphone. "Hello?"
"My dear niece, it seems you already know who I am, don’t you?" Connor’s familiar voice came through. His tone was still smooth and proper, but I could hear the twisted craziness hiding underneath.
I clenched my jaw. "A crazy person who’ll do anything to get what he wants?"
He let out a creepy laugh that sounded nothing like his usual self. Since his sons had found out his true nature, Connor had completely lost his mind.
"It’s your fault for looking into me, for digging up truths that should have rotted away with the dead bodies. You brought this all on yourself, Kyra."
"You psycho, what have you done now?" I demanded.
Nathan’s hand gripped mine tight, giving me strength and support. fɾeeweɓnѳveɭ.com
"Your memory loss friend is in a dark, narrow, scary place. A place that was actually made for you. You should be the one lying there. You have 15 minutes to decide who to save first. Her, or those innocent workers at your company. When time’s up, the explosion will be quite a show."
His voice was full of sick joy, like he was enjoying some twisted game.
"What company? Connor! Connor!" I was almost screaming, but the call had already ended.
No! No! It could be my dad’s or my mom’s company. This can’t be!
I looked at Nathan in horror, my hands shaking badly. His jaw was tight as he immediately started calling the security team.
"We need to ask Matt about his father’s private office right now. We need that clue," I said urgently. "If we can find proof, we can take him down completely."
Nathan nodded and immediately called Matt. I could hear him explaining the situation quickly.
I kept replaying Connor’s words in my head. A place made for me. Dark, narrow, and scary. Where could that be?
Suddenly, my stomach dropped as a terrible thought hit me. I remembered my mother’s grave and those nightmares I used to have.
With trembling hands, I grabbed my phone and called Kieran.
"Hello?" His voice was tense.
"Search all the cemeteries," I said urgently, my voice rough with fear. "Every cemetery in town, especially new graves. Look for freshly dug dirt or anything weird. Connor buried Emily alive."
There was a sharp breath on the other end. "What? Are you sure?"
"Just do it, Kieran," I insisted, tears running down my face. "Find her. She doesn’t have much time."
"I’m on it." His voice got firm and determined, all anger from before gone. "I’ll send every person I can to search. I’ll find her, Kyra. I promise."
After hanging up, I turned to Nathan. "We also need to check those companies right away. We can’t let innocent people die."
Nathan finished his call with Matt and turned to me. "Matt’s going with my men to find the evidence his father hid in his private office."
I held Nathan’s hand tight, getting strength from his touch. Time was running out fast.
"Let’s go," I took a deep breath. "We have a monster to stop and a friend to save. This time, we have to win."
