Chapter 156: Chapter 156
Phoebe’s POV
I sat nervously on my bed as Kyra examined my room. With Snow spending time with my parents by the pool, I finally had the opportunity to talk to Kyra about what had been weighing on me.
After looking around, Kyra turned to me with a gentle smile. She sat beside me on the bed and softly caressed my hair, the gesture reminding me how much I had missed having her as the Luna in our pack.
"What did you want to talk about?" she asked softly.
I stared into her kind eyes. "I-I’m ready to tell you everything."
She nodded encouragingly. "Thank you for trusting me."
I sighed and looked down at my fingers, fidgeting with my nails. "Kyra, I... I gave myself to a man older than me and my brother."
I couldn’t bring myself to look at her. Shame and insecurity washed over me in equal measure.
I knew that Caleb had feelings for Kyra—he had never pursued her only because he knew she was in love with Nathan.
Yes, it was Caleb Walter. I had given myself to him. We were both drinking that night, but while I was still in control, he was completely wasted. The worst part? He kept calling Kyra’s name. I took him to a hotel room.
He seemed to mistake me for someone else.
He started kissing me. His kiss began gentle, then turned intense. His hands roamed over my body. I was completely under his spell.
When his fingers traced along my breast, teasing my nipple until it tightened beneath his touch, I gasped softly. The way he looked at me in that moment made me feel as though I were the only woman in the world. Then his hand drifted lower, cupping me through the fabric, and I could feel how wet I had already become. When his fingers gently pressed against my center, he paused, "Is this okay?"
Breathless, all I could do was nod.
We spent the night together, a memory I treasured in my heart. But he remembered nothing the next day. That hurt even more than hearing Kyra’s name.
"It’s okay, Phoebe. If you’re not ready, I won’t force you—"
"It was Caleb Walter," I whispered nervously, squeezing my eyes shut. I braced myself for her shock or disappointment, but neither came. ƒrēewebnovel.com
Slowly, I opened my eyes again and looked at her. Her expression was serious but not judgmental. Was she angry? Did she have feelings for him after all?
"You know the consequences of your actions, Phoebe," she said softly.
I bit my bottom lip and nodded slowly. "Yes..."
"He’s older than you, and you’re still studying. If you get pregnant, you’ll—"
"I’ll have to take a year off. I know," I whispered.
Kyra sighed and gently took my hands in hers. When I looked up, she gave me a reassuring smile.
I was shocked by her reaction. "Y-you’re not angry?"
She shook her head. "You’re old enough to differentiate what’s right from wrong. I won’t lecture you because I’m not perfect either. I have things I’ve kept to myself because I’m afraid of the consequences."
I studied her face, noticing the fear in her eyes. Was she thinking about Snow’s real father?
I still couldn’t understand why Nathan fiercely believed Snow was Kieran Carver’s daughter. Couldn’t he feel their bond? As her biological father, shouldn’t he be the one who feels their bond most strongly? Unless... could it be that Kyra had used some method to block their connection? After all, an Alpha should be able to recognize his own child.
Maybe Nathan was just too naive. But I couldn’t entirely blame him. He was so convinced that Kyra would never hide something this important from him. His thinking was too stubborn, and he was obviously so blindly in love with her that he couldn’t see the facts right in front of him.
"I just want you to know that no matter what happens, your family loves you, Phoebe," Kyra continued. "You can trust them if things get messy. Especially your parents. They will never abandon you."
I smiled and hugged her tightly. "Don’t leave me too, Kyra."
She rubbed my back soothingly as she whispered, "I won’t."
And I believed her. She wouldn’t leave again. My brother and Kyra deserved a second chance. They belonged together—not because I had feelings for Caleb Walter, but because I knew they truly loved each other.
As I hugged her, I felt a strange protectiveness wash over me. My brother had hurt Kyra deeply, yet here she was, offering me comfort and understanding without judgment.
Whatever secrets she was keeping, I knew in my heart they weren’t meant to harm our family.
And I was determined to help her find her way back to where she belonged— with us, with Nathan, as our Luna.
