Chapter 126: Chapter 126
Kyra’s POV
My body ached in all the right places, reminding me of our crazy night together. I bit my lip as I lay in Nathan’s bed, wearing his oversized shirt and sweatpants that smelled like his minty scent.
"What’s embarrassing, Kyra? You’ve done this before..." I whispered to myself, pulling the blanket tighter around my body as heat rushed to my cheeks. When I finally managed to sit up and glance at the side table to check the time, my eyes caught on something unexpected—a single red rose with a note.
A smile crept across my lips as I reached for the small card.
’Good morning. I’ll be downstairs. Snow’s with me.’
Such a simple message, but coming from him, it felt precious.
I pulled myself out of bed, wincing slightly at the tenderness, and quickly tied my hair back. After checking my phone and seeing some messages from Ana and Yara that could wait, I headed downstairs. My wolf and I were too eager to see Nathan and Snow.
"Miss Kyra, they’re at the poolside," the pack housekeeper informed me when I found the kitchen empty.
My lips parted involuntarily as memories from last night flooded my mind—Nathan and I in that very same pool, our bodies coming together after years apart. Heat rushed to my face.
The housekeeper gave me a knowing smile. "Alpha Nathan called workers early this morning to clean the pool and change the water. Now they’re playing there with your adorable daughter. I understand now why he was so insistent about having it cleaned."
I gave an awkward smile and headed toward the pool area, slowing down as I got closer. The entire Anderson family was there. Nathan’s parents were relaxing in the sun, his father reading a newspaper while his mother filmed Nathan, Snow, and Phoebe playing in the water.
I stopped and watched them, my heart filling up at the sight of Snow laughing as Nathan spun her around. This was what pack life should be like. Family, connection, belonging. After a few minutes, Nathan saw me and climbed out of the pool.
My breath caught as water dripped down his muscular body. His defined chest, the thin line of hair running down his stomach to his v-line... God help me. I had to lean against the glass door to steady myself as he walked over.
"Morning," he said, his voice rough.
"Morning..." I managed to reply, finally finding my smile.
His eyes were warm as he looked at my face, searching for any sign of regret. "Snow saw the pool. She wants to swim. Don’t worry, I had it cleaned this morning." There was playfulness in his voice that made Sylvia stir inside me.
I nodded. "Okay."
"Are you going to work now?" he asked, sounding worried. "You should eat breakfast first... wait, I’ll drive you to work."
I shook my head. "It’s okay. I’ll just take half the day off. Snow is still having fun here."
He smiled wider and took my hand, gently pulling me toward his parents. I smiled awkwardly at Alpha Richard and Marlene, very aware that I was wearing Nathan’s clothes and they must know what happened between us last night. freewёbn૦νeɭ.com
"Good morning," I said formally.
"Just call us mom and dad again, Kyra..." Marlene said with a warm smile. But seeing my shocked face, she quickly added, "...or aunt and uncle?"
I pressed my lips together, not sure what to say. Nathan saved me by leading me to a chair and handing me a plate of pancakes.
"Here. I’ll get you some coffee," he said and left.
"Mommy, let’s swim!" Snow called out. I smiled at my daughter and sat by the pool, putting my feet in the water.
"I’ll just eat, sweetie. Want some?"
She shook her head, her eyes bright. "Mommy, Nathan said I can call him daddy. You don’t mind, right?"
I choked on my bite, coughing as Marlene quickly handed me a glass of juice.
"Kyra! Here, drink this. It’s Nathan’s."
After I stopped coughing, I said a quiet "Thank you... aunt," which seemed to make her happy.
"Mommy, Aunt Phoebe is really good at swimming," Snow continued, not noticing my reaction. "Can we stay here longer? I want Aunt Phoebe to teach me how to swim."
I smiled at her excitement. "Sure, sweetie."
"Yay!" Snow clapped and looked past me. "Daddy, Mommy said I can stay longer!"
I bit my lip as Nathan sat beside me, placing a cup of coffee between us. His eyes were gentle when they met mine.
"Are you... okay now?" he whispered, sounding worried. "Does it still... hurt?"
I shook my head slowly. "I can handle the soreness." Sylvia purred at his concern, happy that our mate cared about us. fɾeewebnoveℓ.co๓
He nodded. "I bought painkillers just in case. They’re in our room."
Our room. The way he said it made my chest flutter.
"Daddy, race with Aunt Phoebe again!" Snow called from the water.
Nathan looked at me apologetically. "I’m sorry. I couldn’t say no to her."
"It’s okay," I quickly said, watching Snow splash happily. "She never asks for anything. This is the first time she’s asked for something she wants."
"I treat her like my own daughter, Kyra." His words made me look at him. He was watching Snow, his jaw tight with emotion. "I don’t care about anything else. All that matters to me is you and her."
When his eyes met mine, I felt my heart race. Our gazes locked, and I couldn’t look away. His eyes pulled me into a beautiful dream that I couldn’t and didn’t want to resist.
"I know what happened last night doesn’t mean we’re automatically together again," he said softly. "Please don’t feel pressured. I can wait until you’re ready to open your heart to me again."
I was speechless. I had expected him to claim me after what happened between us, to assert himself as my mate and Alpha. Instead, he was giving me time and space to decide for myself. Despite being a dominant Alpha, when it came to me, Nathan was still selflessly giving.
