Chapter 108: Chapter 108
Nathan’s POV
I couldn’t find Kyra anywhere. I had been going back to her workplace every day, but she was never there. It had been almost a week since she disappeared, and I was losing my mind.
I knew it was her I saw that day. When I questioned someone at the company, they confirmed an Elle worked there—her new identity. She was here in the city but somehow always one step ahead of me. Was she deliberately avoiding me? If she truly didn’t remember me as Emily claimed, why would she hide? But if she did remember... why run from me?
"Let her be. She’s old enough to know what she’s doing."
My jaw clenched when I heard Dad say that to Mom. They were discussing how Phoebe had been sneaking out almost every night, and my father seemed indifferent. I was walking down the stairs when I caught their conversation, and his dismissive tone instantly ignited my anger.
"What do you mean? She’s just 21. We can’t let her do this. What if she’s—"
"Just trust her."
"Trust her," I repeated with a sarcastic laugh, drawing their attention. I continued down the stairs, my eyes locked on my father’s gaze. "You don’t really care about your children, do you?"
"Nathan, don’t speak to your father that way," Mom said, her voice strained.
"Why shouldn’t I, Mom? His daughter, a young woman, has been disappearing night after night, and that’s his reaction?"
"Nathan!" Mom approached me, placing her hand on my arm in an attempt to calm me, but I shook my head in disgust.
"You are both my children, and I know how I raised you," Dad replied coldly, which only made me laugh harder.
"You know us? Then tell me now, am I wrong when I say Kyra is alive?"
He said nothing, simply sipping his coffee, completely ignoring my question.
"DAD!"
"Do you think I want a son who can’t even control his emotions? You are the Alpha of the Nightfall Pack. Your duty is to make the pack prosper and be strong," he finally snapped. "Look at yourself now. I won’t watch you lose your mind over a woman, Nathan!"
"That woman is my life—"
"That woman is rebuilding her life, and look at you, destroying yours. Do you think she’d take you back if she saw what a mess you’ve become?"
I froze, my jaw dropped. Not because of his harsh words, but because of the implication. He had just indirectly confirmed Kyra was alive. Alaric snarled inside me, sensing the revelation.
My father had always been cold, showing warmth only to my mother. There were times I questioned if I was truly his son, but seeing his reaction to Phoebe’s behavior now... was he even our father?
"What did you just say?" I asked, my voice barely a whisper.
Dad returned his attention to his newspaper, dismissing me. I was about to growl when the front door swung open. Phoebe stumbled in, looking completely drained, her eyes red and swollen.
I rushed to her side. "What happened to you?"
She shook her head. "I’m fine."
"Your eyes are swollen, Phoebe! What the hell are you saying?"
She glanced at Mom, who had hurried over, before looking back at me. "Remember when I disappeared?"
My heart skipped a beat as I nodded. "It was Kieran Carver who took you that night, wasn’t it?"
She nodded. "He abducted me."
I clenched my fists. "That bastard—"
"He took me to lure Kyra back. He only released me when Kyra came for me."
My world stopped spinning at that moment. All I could hear was her name. Kyra. Kieran had Kyra. I’d thought he was behind her abduction before my villa was burned down. What the hell was happening? Did she escape only to be captured again? Or was someone else responsible for the fire?
"Do you..." I swallowed hard, trying to steady my voice. "Do you know where he’s keeping her?"
She shook her head. "I was blindfolded. But it’s an island. Secluded. I believe it’s Kieran Carver’s private property."
I inhaled deeply and nodded slowly. My eyes drifted to my father, who continued reading as if nothing had happened. His earlier words echoed in my mind—he knew all along and kept silent. I suspected he might even know who burned down the villa. Why he was hiding everything, I didn’t know, but I’d confront him later. Right now, I needed to rescue my mate.

"You can’t hold me here forever, Kieran!" I growled as he dragged me inside the house. "Let me go!"
"NO!" he roared, his eyes burning into mine. "I will never let you go, Kyra. I love you. I need you."
"Did you ever ask if I need you?"
He shook his head, scanning our surroundings frantically. "That doesn’t matter. All that matters is you’re with me—"
"I don’t love you anymore!"
He froze, his jaw clenching as pain flooded his expression.
"In fact, I feel nothing for you except hatred," I added mercilessly.
His grip on my wrist began to loosen. I glanced down at his hand, and just as his fingers were about to release me, a gunshot echoed through the house.
I screamed and covered my ears. Kieran instantly wrapped his arms around me, shielding me with his body.
I looked up at him pleadingly. "Just let me go, Kieran. Please... I can’t die here. My daughter needs me..."
"What makes you think I’d ever let you die?" His eyes grew fierce, almost feral as Ronan took control over him. "They’ll have to go through me before they hurt you or take you from me."
My lips trembled. "They’re here to save me, Kieran—"
"YOU DON’T NEED SAVING BECAUSE YOU’RE SAFE WITH ME! WHY ARE YOU ACTING LIKE I WOULD HURT YOU? I WOULD NEVER DO THAT!"
"You’re hurting me now!" I fired back, Sylvia’s anger rising within me. "You’re keeping me from my daughter, and that’s worse than any physical pain!"
He studied my face before licking his lips. "We’ll get her."
"What? No! Just let me go, Kieran!"
"Never," he answered firmly, reaching for a gun. My eyes widened in horror at the sight of the weapon.
Kieran was about to pull me upstairs when a cold, familiar voice filled the room. My heart stopped as I turned to see a man standing several meters away, his minty scent washing over me. His brown eyes were dark with fury, his fists clenched at his sides.
"Let her go, Carver!"
