Chapter 103: Chapter 103

Kyra’s POV

The sun was shining outside, but I felt sad and lonely in this cold room. Kieran had kept me here for two days. I missed my daughter so much. I was worried about her. She was only five years old. She shouldn’t have to deal with this problem. I hoped Phoebe was taking care of her. I didn’t mind if Phoebe took her to stay with her parents. I just didn’t want my daughter to cry at night and call for me.

God! I can’t endure this anymore...

A series of soft knocks interrupted my thoughts. I quickly wiped the tears from the corners of my eyes as I stared at the closed door.

"Kyra, I prepared our lunch. I personally cooked all your favorite seafood dishes. I remember how much you love seafood."

I laughed sarcastically. Did he think I’d be moved by his efforts? I would eat the seafood but I still wouldn’t forgive him. I’m not stupid enough to starve myself just because I hate him.

I pulled myself up and opened the door. His eyes raked over my whole body as his lips parted. I just stared at him blankly, completely uninterested.

He expected me to talk to him while eating. He kept blabbering about seafood and even proudly boasted about how he had caught the fish himself when they went fishing after breakfast.

"I got up early to catch fresh fish for you," he said. He hoped I would like it.

He looked so happy as he watched me eat, his eyes never leaving my face, searching for any reaction. But I didn’t pay attention to him. I just continued eating to my heart’s content, almost finishing everything.

I caressed my stomach after eating. I thought I needed to take a walk for proper digestion.

"Ky...Kyra..." Kieran’s panicked voice stopped me when I was about to leave.

I looked at him, but I didn’t say anything.

He glanced at his plate before he looked at me again. He wasn’t done eating. So?

"Where are you going?"

I looked at the seashore. "I ate too much. I’m going to take a walk." freēwebnovel.com

"Okay... I’ll... follow you after I’m done."

"No need. I have two feet, I can walk alone." I left after saying that.

I carefully walked down the concrete stairs until I felt the rough texture of the sand on my feet despite my slippers. I breathed in the fresh air and a genuine smile curved on my lips. At least I could still smile despite my situation.

I walked on the shore barefoot. I enjoyed the breathtaking scenery until I got tired. Then I decided to sit on the sand. I put my slippers beside me and stretched out my legs until the wild waves constantly touched my feet.

"I wish you were here, Snow," I whispered into the air and took a deep breath.

One of Kieran’s men suddenly approached me, carrying a sun lounger. I frowned as I looked at him.

"Miss, Alpha Kieran sent this."

"Did I ask for that?"

He was taken aback. "Uh..."

"I didn’t ask for that. I want to sit on the sand. Is that forbidden too?"

He immediately bowed his head and walked away. I hissed when I spotted Kieran watching me. Shaking my head, I focused my vision on the horizon again.

Trying so hard? That won’t work on me. I have nurtured my anger for him for five long years and his efforts couldn’t melt it anymore. Especially because of his way of trying to reconcile.

When I went back to the house, Kieran was sitting on the couch in the living area, waiting for me.

"Kyra..."

I continued walking toward the staircase, ignoring him when he suddenly moved with inhuman speed. Before I could react, he had his arms wrapped around me, pulling me against his chest with such force I could barely breathe. Sylvia growled inside me, sensing the danger.

"Let me go!" I struggled against his grip, but it was like being trapped in steel bands. His cedar and musk scent overwhelmed me as he buried his face in my hair.

"Please, Kyra," he said in a sad voice. "If you can’t forgive me, then tell me what I need to do to atone for my sins."

I tried pushing against his chest but he only held me tighter, as if trying to physically merge me into his body.

"You want your father’s pack back? His company and inheritance? Fine, I’ll give it all to you. Everything I have is yours. Or..." his voice dropped to a desperate whisper, "do you want my life instead? If my death is the only way you’ll forgive me and love me again, I wouldn’t mind waiting for you in hell."

His eyes searched mine, filled with such desperate longing that for a moment, I almost felt something other than hatred. Almost.

When his grip loosened slightly, I wrenched myself away, putting distance between us.

"You really don’t understand, do you?" I said coldly, watching his face fall. "I don’t want your possessions or your life. I want you to understand that what you broke can never be fixed. Some betrayals go too deep, Kieran. You didn’t just break my trust, you shattered my whole world."

I turned away from the devastation on his face, continuing toward the stairs. "And don’t touch me like that again, or I swear I’ll find a way to make you regret it."

***

When night fell, I went to bed early. I didn’t even wait for Kieran during dinner. His men told me that he was drinking near the pool, which was why I locked myself in the room even when I wanted to take a walk and get some fresh air. I didn’t want to see him.

I woke up in the middle of the night because of heavy footsteps and noises. I went out of the room and was planning to go downstairs when I saw Kieran sitting on the floor, bleeding.

My lips parted as I looked at him. He was almost unconscious and obviously dead drunk. A broken bottle of rum was beside him and a large piece of it was buried in the left side of his stomach.

Did he really hurt himself?

One of his men caught my gaze. He immediately stood straight and looked up at me as I was at the top of the staircase.

"Alpha Kieran was going upstairs on his own carrying a bottle of alcohol when he tripped and fell. He hurt himself but we already called a doctor."

The expression on my face didn’t change. I remained looking at them with blank eyes as I walked down the stairs and fixed my gaze on Kieran. He was trying too hard to lift his face and open his eyes but he was too drunk to do it.

The broken bottle piercing his skin didn’t worry me at all. I could see the wound through his ruined shirt and I could tell it wasn’t serious. It didn’t even pierce through his body. Moreover, with an Alpha’s extraordinary healing ability, he would be fine. If he was just trying to find a way to get my sympathy, he wouldn’t succeed.

I walked past them and went straight to the kitchen. I grabbed a clean glass and poured water before I brought it to my mouth. I could hear Kieran’s men growing insanely worried while waiting for the doctor.

He found people who cared for him even when he’s evil. Good for him because I don’t think I can even find sympathy for him... even if he bleeds to death.
