Chapter 100: Chapter 100

Kyra’s POV

I paced the living room floor, my heart racing as Sylvia growled anxiously within me. Kieran had kidnapped Phoebe. Goddamn Kieran Carver had kidnapped Nathan’s baby sister.

"He’ll hurt her," I whispered to myself. "He’ll hurt anyone to get what he wants."

My eyes drifted to Snow, peacefully asleep on the couch, her small hands clutching her favorite pillow.

What choice did I have? Should I call Nathan and tell him everything about my identity, our daughter, and why I hid all these years? Or should I handle this myself and keep Snow safe from Kieran’s games?

And... Kieran knew about me now. I knew he had discovered the name I was hiding under. He wouldn’t stop until I returned to him.

I called Luke to watch Snow while I was gone. This was my mess to clean up. I refused to drag Nathan and his family deeper into the nightmare Kieran had created.

"Sweetie," I whispered, kneeling beside the couch and brushing Snow’s soft hair from her face. Her eyes fluttered open. "Mommy has to go somewhere."

She smiled that sweet smile that melted my heart every time. "Are you going to bring daddy home, mommy?"

The innocent question stabbed through me. Not your daddy, but your auntie, honey. I kissed her face repeatedly, breathing in her scent to give me strength before nodding to Luke.

"Take care of her with your life," I commanded.

As I waited for the taxi outside, I called Kieran back, my fingers trembling slightly.

"That was a very quick decision, babe," his voice purred through the phone. "So, what’s the good news?"

I clenched my jaw. "Where are you?"

"Hmm! Just go to our old lovely home, babe. Someone’s waiting for you there." freёwebnoѵel.com

The scent of cedar and musk hit me as soon as I entered the glass house on Kieran’s private island. His men had escorted me here to a beautiful prison with panoramic views of endless blue ocean. This place could have been paradise if I were here with people I actually loved.

Kieran entered the room with that familiar predatory grace. I sat rigidly on the couch, watching him approach. The hatred I’d carefully contained for five years bubbled up.

I thought I could control myself and my anger, but I hated him too much to hold it back.

"Where is she?" I demanded, my voice cold.

His deceitfully beautiful eyes roamed my face hungrily. Five years ago, I might have mistaken that look for love. Now I recognized it for what it was: pure possessiveness.

"She’s somewhere safe here, Kyra. You don’t have to worry about her." He moved closer, his scent intensifying. "Why don’t we catch up first? It’s been five long years and those years felt like forever... I missed you."

I shook my head slowly, disgust rolling through me. "You think I came here for some stupid catching up?"

Something shifted in his expression. The false gentleness vanished, replaced by the cold look I knew was his true face—the devil behind the angel’s mask.

"You need to bargain with me, Kyra. What can you give up for your ex’s sister?" freewebnøvel.com

My fists balled at my sides. "What do you want?"

"Okay..." He circled me like a predator, confidence in every step. "First things first... come back to me."

A humorless laugh escaped me. "Don’t you think that’s too absurd? Me... coming back to you after you ruined my life? Nice try."

"I’m trying to fix your life again, Kyra. Basically, I’m the only one who can do that."

The audacity of his statement made Sylvia snap and snarl within me. "Funny! How do you want us to end this stupid devil game, Kieran?" I stepped toward him, no longer afraid. "Getting everyone around me killed and me accepting my bitter fate of getting trapped with you just so you’d stop killing people? If that’s how you’re going to fix my life, no thanks. I’d rather have my life remain messy."

His jaw clenched, his wolf clearly taking control as his scent grew sharper. "I did not kill anyone, Kyra. Yet. It was Amanda who killed your father. All I want is to have you by my side because you’re the only one who can keep me sane."

"Oh, really? Frankly speaking, you’re an accomplice to Amanda’s crime, which means you killed my dad. And don’t give me some bullshit I can laugh at. You chose to be evil, so don’t involve me with your stupid antics."

"How many times do I have to explain to you, Kyra?" His voice dropped dangerously low.

"You already explained just now and I chose not to accept your reasons."

He gritted his teeth. "I fucking need you to come back to me. Or I won’t stop chasing you."

I pulled myself up and walked toward the glass wall, the ocean stretching endlessly beyond. "So, this game isn’t going anywhere unless you give up your bullshit and just give me my freedom back, or I give up on my life and foolishly submit to you."

I turned to face him again. "Right?"

"You really think I want you back to make you suffer? Why don’t you just forgive me and drop your childish and petty revenge?"

My blood boiled instantly, Sylvia’s fury merging with my own. "Petty? Childish?" I stalked toward him. "You allowed your bitch of an ex-lover to kill my father, Kieran! And how do you want me to accept the fact that my fiancé, who I trusted and loved after a failed relationship with Nathan, was my stepmother’s ex-lover? My stepmother, who killed my father and disrespected my mother’s memory?"

I was inches from his face now, trembling with rage. "You fooled me, put my father into endless misery by stealing everything he worked hard for. And then—" my voice broke slightly, "—you tried to hurt my child. Tell me how I’m supposed to forgive that!"

We stared into each other’s eyes, neither backing down. The hatred flowing through me was pure and complete. Any love I once felt had burned away, leaving nothing but ashes. If he dropped dead at my feet this moment, I wouldn’t shed a single tear.

He turned his back to me, his shoulders tense.

"I will only send her back home if you agree to stay with me here even for just a month. That’s all I want. A month."
