Chapter 74: The Womanizer

DARLINGTON

I walked through the corridors of the palace with my hands clasped behind my back.

I was not in a good mood.

My father had assigned Samantha to me tonight. Finally, after all the fighting and arguing. She was supposed to be mine. For tonight--just one night.

And I had been looking forward to it.

But then I had heard the rumors. Whispers in the corridors, servants gossiping behind their hands. Jayce had been in the penthouse, looking for Samantha. Trying to confirm if it was true, I went Infront of her penthouse and smelt him. The desperate motherfucker. Had he tried to touch her? I had a dream where he touched her while I watched. Did he want to disvirgin her before me?

What did he want with her?

What did he always want?

I reached Jayce’s chambers and pushed them open with anger.

The scene inside made my jaw tighten.

Jayce was lying on a velvet couch like a king. A golden crown sat on his head. His shirt was unbuttoned, leaving his chest bare. His eyes were half-lidded with two half-naked women kneeling at his feet, feeding him grapes. Another woman was dancing on a pole in the corner of the room.

He was getting himself entertained by strippers!!

Jayce bit into a grape, his teeth sinking into the skin, juice dripped down his chin.

"Hello, brother!" he called with a mocking voice.

I did not respond. I was too livid to know why my brother would not want to give me any privacy.

Jayce gestured to the women. "Sit! Have fun! Enjoy yourself for once!"

One of the half-naked women rose and walked toward me. Her hips swayed, her hand reaching out with a grape.

"No," I refused and Jayce laughed.

"What is the meaning of this? You come into my chambers to interrupt my relaxation. And you refuse my hospitality?"

I walked toward him, my hands were still clasped behind my back. I wanted to punch him in the face I swear.

"What is the meaning of this?" I asked, gesturing to the women. "What are you doing?"

Jayce raised an eyebrow. "What does it look like I am doing? I am enjoying myself. Something you should try sometime."

"These women are slaves."

"They are entertainers. There is a difference."

"There is no difference. They are here because you commanded them. Because you have power over them."

Jayce shrugged. "That is how the world works, little brother. The strong take. The weak give."

I stopped in front of him, my eyes meeting him.

"Why?" I asked. "Why are you doing this?"

"Doing what?"

"Womanizing and parading half-naked women around your chambers. The whole kingdom calls us womanizers because you patronize strippers from all around the world. Acting like a savage." freёweɓnovel.com

Jayce’s smile faded. "I am not acting like anything. I am being myself."

"Then yourself is a disappointment."

Jayce sat up, the crown slipping on his head. He pushed it back into place.

"What is your problem, Darlington? Why are you so uptight all the time?"

"My problem is you."

"Me?"

"Yes. You." I stepped closer. "Do you have any idea what you are doing? Do you have any idea how this looks?"

"How does it look?"

"It looks like you do not care. About anything or anyone. Including your mate."

Jayce’s eyes narrowed. "My mate?"

"Samantha. Our mate. The woman we are supposed to protect. The woman you claim to want."

Jayce leaned back on the couch. "What about her?"

"You are supposed to be keeping yourself pure. For her and for the bond."

Jayce laughed louder this time. "Pure? You want me to be pure? Like you? The monk? The saint?"

"I am not a saint. I am just not a fool."

"A fool? Is that what you think I am?"

"I think you are reckless. I think you are selfish. I think you do not care about anyone except yourself."

Jayce stood and the women scurried back. The dancer stopped moving and the room went silent.

"You do not know anything about me," Jayce mused, his voice now sounding dangerous.

"I know you were in Samantha’s penthouse today. Looking for her while she was gone."

Jayce’s expression did not change. "I was checking on her."

"Checking on her? Or stalking her?"

"I was making sure she was safe."

"Safe from what? From you?"

Jayce stepped closer. His face was inches from mine. "You do not get to lecture me, little brother. You do not get to tell me how to live my life. How to treat my women. How to be a man."

"Your women? She is not your woman. She is our mate, to be shared equal."

"Equal?" Jayce laughed. "Nothing about this is equal. I am the oldest, the strongest and the one who found her first."

"I don’t care!!" I yelled.

"I do not have to explain myself to you," he said. "I do not have to justify myself to anyone."

"Father assigned her to me," I said. "Stay away from her."

"You know what? I’m just tired of all this. The games, the rules and the pretending." He gestured to the room. "I am supposed to be a prince. A Lycan and a warrior. And instead, I am sitting here, waiting for permission to touch a woman who is supposed to be mine."

I shook my head. "You do not love her. You do not even like her. You just want to possess and fuck her!!"

"Love is for poets. Possession is for kings and sex is for legends!!"

"You are not a king. And if you keep acting like this, you never will be one."

Jayce’s eyes flashed, his hands curling into fists.

"You think you are better than me?" he asked. "You think you are purer? More deserving?"

"I think I am trying. And I think you are not."

Jayce stared at me for a long moment, then ignoring me to face the strippers.

"Little brother," he said, "you are always too uptight."

He walked back to his couch and sat down, the women creeping closer.

"Enjoy the pleasure I have offered," he said, gesturing to the empty chair across from him. "Sit, relax and let yourself have fun for once."

I did not move.

"I am not interested in your idea of fun," I said. freewebnøvel.com

"Then leave and close the door behind you."

I stopped, refusing to turn around.

"Why don’t you go enjoy your night with Samantha," Jayce slurred, his voice was mocking. "I hope she is worth all this drama."
