Chapter 70: Korvus And The Secret

Korvus was walking the Alien king back to his spaceship. He knew Alpha Kayden would ask him to walk the lizard king back to his spaceship, so he plotted and took some of the vials of the blood under his garment, ready to present it to the Alien King.

The ramp of Ketem’s spaceship hummed beneath Korvus’s feet. The metal was smooth. Nothing like the rough stone and woven roots of the lizard camp. Korvus’s claws clicked against the surface as he walked.

Ketem walked beside him. His long coat swayed and his dark eyes scanned the forest beyond the clearing.

"Your camp is improving," Ketem said. "Slowly. But improving. You lizards are a bit lazy. I would’ve expected to see a while civilization when I come."

Korvus said nothing.

"The slaves, especially. The human ones. I saw several on my way in. They are beautiful creatures. Bit not prettier than my Alien concubines." Ketem’s lips curled. "I would love to have a taste of them."

Korvus’s tail twitched. "They are not for tasting, my king."

"Everything is for tasting, if you have enough gold. The women love money. So, they would follow anything that can give them some. They would also fuck any good dick that promises to give them an orgasm."

"They belong to Alpha Kayden. He does not share."

"Kayden does not share anything. That is his problem."

They reached the top of the ramp. The interior of the ship was even more impressive than the exterior. The walls were made of polished metal and the lights glowed without fire. The screens that showed images of human pornography. Two girls were playing with each other’s vaginas.

Korvus stopped. His eyes moved across the technology.

"This ship," he said. "It is magnificent."

Ketem smiled. "It is the finest in my fleet. It is custom-built. Faster than anything in this system."

"How fast?"

"Fast enough to cross the galaxy in days instead of years."

Korvus walked deeper into the ship. He touched a wall. The metal was expensive. It didn’t feel like the one humans sold in their markets. Korvus was intrigued and curious.

"What is this material?"

"It is alien alloy. It is stronger than steel and lighter than wood."

"And these lights?"

"They are bioluminescent crystals. They never burn out."

Korvus turned in a circle. His amber eyes took in everything.

"How many weapons?"

Ketem raised an eyebrow. "Why do you want to know?"

"I am filled with curiosity. I have never been inside a spaceship before."

Ketem studied Korvus’s face. Then he nodded.

"Forty-two plasma cannons. Twelve missile launchers. A shield that can withstand a direct hit from a meteor."

Korvus whistled. "That is a lot of firepower."

"It is enough to destroy a small city."

"Or a wolf palace?"

Ketem’s smile returned. "Easily."

Korvus walked to a screen. He touched it. Images appeared. Planets. Stars. Nebulas.

"You have seen many worlds," Korvus said.

"I have conquered many worlds. There is a difference."

Korvus turned to face Ketem. His amber eyes glowed.

"I know Kayden’s secret," he said.

Ketem froze.

His body went still. His dark eyes narrowed. His hand moved toward the weapon at his belt.

"What did you say?"

Korvus smiled. He had to smile to cover up the fact that he was betraying his Alpha. But what could a lizard do? He wanted a better life. He grew up here and he was tired!

"I said I know Kayden’s secret. I know what is making him maintain his human state. Why he looks younger and healthier. I know why he is more human than he has in centuries."

Ketem’s hand stopped. He did not draw his weapon.

"Explain," he said.

Korvus stepped closer. His voice dropped low.

"Kayden has found a source of pure Lycan blood. A girl. A she-wolf. Her blood contains ancient properties like healing, magic and transformation."

Ketem’s eyes widened. "Where?"

"In the wolf palace. The Cunninghams’ palace. She is a slave there. One of many."

"And Kayden has been using her blood?"

"He has been testing it. Experimenting. The results are... promising."

Ketem was silent for a long moment. His dark eyes moved across Korvus’s face.

"Why are you telling me this?"

Korvus shrugged. "Because I want something in return."

"I want money."

"I also need gold. Five bags of it." freewebnovёl.ƈom

Ketem laughed. "Five bags? That is absurd. You do not go to the human world to trade. What do you need all that money for?" fгee𝑤ebɳoveɭ.cøm

"It is the price of knowledge."

"Knowledge that I could extract from you in other ways."

Korvus did not flinch. "You could. But you would not. Because you are smart. And smart men know that torture produces lies. Negotiation produces truth."

Ketem stared at him. The silence stretched.

"Three bags," Ketem said.

"Five."

"Four. Final offer."

Korvus shook his head. "Five. Or I walk away. And you never learn what is making Kayden young."

Ketem’s jaw tightened. His hands curled into fists.

"You are a greedy lizard," he said.

"I am a practical lizard. There is a difference."

Ketem laughed again. This time, it was almost warm.

"Fine. Five bags."

Korvus smiled. "Excellent."

Ketem gestured to a soldier. The soldier disappeared into a back room. He returned carrying five heavy bags.

Korvus’s eyes glittered with greed. He had never owned such amount before.

"Tell me the secret," Ketem demanded.

Korvus stepped closer. His voice was barely a whisper.

"Kayden has six syringes of the girl’s blood. He is saving them and using them sparingly. Each dose gives him hours of human form."

"Six syringes," Ketem repeated. "That is not enough for a cure."

"No. But it is enough for a start. And more blood is coming. Vera is still in the palace. Still extracting. Still smuggling."

Ketem’s eyes glowed. "Vera. The old woman. The old woman we do business with for years? The mole in the Cunningham palace?"

"The same one."

"And she works for Kayden?"

"She works for gold. Like everyone else."

Ketem nodded slowly. He picked up one of the bags of gold and tossed it to Korvus. Korvus caught it.

"The rest will be delivered to your quarters," Ketem said.

Korvus bowed. "Pleasure doing business with you, my king."

He turned and walked toward the ramp.

Ketem watched him go.

"Korvus," he called. "If you are lying to me—if this information is false—I will come back. And I will not bring gold."

Korvus looked over his shoulder.

"I am not lying, my king. The blood is real. The girl is real. And Kayden is keeping it all for himself."
