Chapter 65: The Human Girls
Korvus, Renn, and Threx crouched at the edge of the forest. Their scales had shifted to match the bark of the trees. They were invisible to anyone who did not know where to look.
A river ran along the edge of the village. And in the river, three young women were bathing.
Their laughter drifted through the night air.
"I cannot believe Amanda is actually going through with it," said the first girl. Her name was Clara. She had red hair and freckles. She floated on her back, her pale skin glowing in the moonlight.
"Going through with what?" asked the second girl. Her name was Beth. She had dark hair and sharp eyes. She was scrubbing her arms with a bar of soap.
"The marriage. To Alpha John."
"Why would she not? He is an Alpha prince. She will be a princess. A Luna."
Clara splashed water at Beth. "Because she stole him. Everyone knows it. Samantha was supposed to marry John. And Amanda pushed her into the river cove and let the lizards take her."
The third girl spoke. Her name was Meenah. She was the youngest. "My mother says Amanda is wicked. She says no good will come of that marriage. The marriage has been cursed by the moon goddess and it will fail so easily."
Beth laughed. "Your mother says everyone is wicked."
"My mother says Amanda betrayed her own blood. Her own cousin. And now she sits on Samantha’s throne and wears Samantha’s crown."
Clara nodded. "It is true. I heard the servants talking. Amanda treats Samantha’s mother like garbage. She does not let her eat at the main table. She made her move to the smallest room in the palace."
"That is horrible," Meenah said.
"That is Amanda."
The girls were quiet for a moment. The river flowed around them and the stars blinked overhead.
"Do you think Samantha is still alive?" Meenah asked. freewёbnoνel.com
Beth shrugged. "Who knows? The lizards took her. They say lizards eat human flesh."
"They do not eat human flesh," Clara said. "They drink blood. Like vampires."
"That is vampires, not lizards."
"Same thing. Scaly and scary."
Meenah shivered. "I hope she is alive. I hope she escapes and comes back and takes her throne from Amanda."
Beth laughed again. "That would be a story. The lost princess returns. The wicked cousin is cast out. Everyone lives happily ever after."
"Stranger things have happened," Clara said.
"Name one."
Clara thought for a moment. "Last week, Old Man Henderson’s cow gave birth to a two-headed calf."
"That is not strange. That is just a mutation."
"It is strange to me."
The girls laughed, their voices carrying across the water.
In the bushes, Renn’s eyes were fixed on the girls. His scales had shifted to match the leaves. His breathing was heavy.
"Look at them," he whispered. "They look so delicious, soft and smooth. I curse this curse that doesn’t let me explore like the others."
Korvus did not answer. He was watching too.
Threx shifted uncomfortably. "We should not be doing this."
"Why not?" Renn asked. "They cannot see us. They will never know."
"It is wrong."
"It is nature. We are males. They are females. It is the way of things."
"The way of things is to find a mate, court her and build a life together. Not to hide in bushes and—"
Renn cut him off with a hiss. "Do not lecture me, Threx. You have done the same. I have seen you watching the human servants in Kayden’s camp. I have seen you masturbating your scaly dick to their pointy breasts. Don’t tell me what to do."
Threx’s face flushed beneath his scales. "That is different."
"How?" free𝑤ebnovel.com
"I was not... touching myself."
Renn laughed. It was a low sound. "Then you are a fool. Look at them. Look at their bodies. We may never see anything so beautiful again, so let me have my fun."
The girls continued talking.
"I heard Amanda is planning a big wedding," Clara said. "She said she will wear a white dress with fowers everywhere and hire singers from the eastern kingdoms."
Beth snorted. "A big wedding for a small soul."
"Souls do not have sizes."
"Mine does. And Amanda’s is very, very small."
Meenah giggled. "You are terrible."
"I am honest. There is a difference."
Clara swam to the edge of the river. She pulled herself onto the bank and water dripped down her body.
The lizards watched. Korvus touched his dick and began to masturbate at the sight of her.
"John does not even love her," Clara said. "Everyone knows that. He married her because she was there. Because Samantha was gone. Because he needed a wife."
"Then he is a fool too," Beth said.
"They deserve each other."
Meenah climbed out of the river. She wrapped a towel around her body. "I feel sorry for Samantha’s mother. She lost her daughter. Her husband is dead. And now she is trapped in that palace with Amanda."
"Maybe she will escape," Clara said.
"Where would she go? She has nothing. No money, no friends and no pack."
Beth dried her hair with a cloth. "Then she will stay. And she will suffer. And Amanda will smile and pretend she is not the cause of it all."
The girls gathered their clothes.
"We should go," Mira said. "It is late."
"One more minute," Clara said. She looked up at the stars. "I like the quiet."
Beth tied her hair back. "Quiet means nothing. Quiet just means the trouble is sleeping."
The girls laughed again and walked back toward the village. Their voices faded into the distance..
In the bushes, Renn exhaled. His body relaxed. He has cummed from all the pleasure.
"That was good," he said.
Korvus wiped his hands on the moss. "We should go. Dawn is coming."
Threx stood up. His legs were stiff. "I still say this was wrong."
Renn clapped him on the back. "Then stay behind next time. We may not be merciful to those girls next time. We will have fun with them and you will watch is from the shadows."
They walked back into the forest. The village disappeared behind them.
"We should spend our coins on women like that," Renn said. "Women who do not know we are lizards."
Korvus nodded. "We could buy a house near a village. Visit the taverns and spend our gold on drink and companionship."
Threx shook his head. "You think too small. We should buy land, start a farm and live quietly."
"Farming is boring," Renn said.
"Farming is safe."
"Safe is boring."
Korvus held up his hand. "Enough. We will decide later!! First, we must return to the camp and give the Alpha his samples. We should act normal."
"And after?" Renn asked.
"After, we count our gold and make our plans. And we remember that we are not just servants. We are survivors."
Korvus stopped and turned to his companions, making sure they didn’t mistake the information.
"Remember," he said. "We received six syringes. No more. No less."
Renn nodded and Threx nodded.
