Chapter 16: Chapter 16
Chapter 16
"Not bad. As expected from a Zoan-type Cat-Cat Fruit user. Being able to dodge my slash is something you can be proud of."
Rorschach stood arrogantly in place, looking down at his opponent.
"You arrogant little brat!" Ricky snarled, glancing at his vice-captain who had been cut in half. Rage and hatred burned in his eyes as he charged forward.
"Hmph. Foolish. You still don’t understand the gap in our strength."
"But I’ll give you credit for your courage. Since that’s the case, I’ll end this with one move."
Rorschach sheathed one sword and gripped the other with both hands, gathering power in a one-sword stance. Red energy and black lightning swirled around his body.
"Hahaha! You’re leaving yourself wide open with that pathetic stance! Your head is mine!" Ricky laughed maniacally as he lunged, claws aimed straight at Rorschach’s heart.
At the very last moment, Rorschach turned into an afterimage. Ricky’s claws passed right through it.
"Shave."
Rorschach had already used the Marine Six Styles technique to appear behind Ricky. His back was completely exposed — practically begging to be attacked.
"Try my new move. Catch this!"
Rorschach grinned as he finished charging.
"Armstrong Cyclone Jet Armstrong Slash!"
He shouted the ridiculously long name while swinging his sword without hesitation. A slash completely different from normal swordsman techniques erupted — raw power twisting space itself. It carried Armament Haki in all three forms (Hardening, Coating, and Projection) fused with Conqueror’s Haki Coating, releasing a devastating shockwave.
BOOOOM!
The impact blasted Ricky straight through the garbage mountains, carving a perfectly round tunnel thousands of meters long.
After learning the first three applications of Armament Haki, combining them allowed Rorschach to achieve the highest level — Internal Destruction. Just like how Luffy learned it rapidly in Wano, Rorschach had personally experienced the technique during his fight with Naguri. In just a few days, he had mastered it.
Combined with his Steel Balloon physique, this brute-force slash now carried a faint resemblance to Big Mom’s Ikoku Sovereignty.
"Oops... I got too excited and didn’t hold back," Rorschach muttered, slapping his forehead. He had come here to collect the bounty. If he turned Ricky into paste, there’d be nothing left to cash in.
He flashed forward at high speed and arrived at the end of the tunnel.
"Whew, still in one piece. At least the top half is intact."
Ricky’s lower body had been completely erased. Only the upper half remained, cut cleanly with a cauterized wound from the slash’s heat.
"As expected of a Zoan user. Surviving that much is impressive. Your body really is tough."
Rorschach grabbed Ricky’s head and flashed back to the shack.
Karina and Nami had already seen the commotion and were rushing over. He still had time to loot the pirates’ treasure.
He tossed the remains aside and strode into the house.
The interior was surprisingly tidy. There was a table, a few chairs, some scattered letters, and a large iron chest in the corner.
Ignoring the letters, Rorschach went straight for the chest.
"Whoa~ Jackpot."
The moment he opened it, a golden glow spilled out. It was packed with gold, silver, and jewels. In the center sat a small black box.
"Hm? What’s this?"
Rorschach easily broke the lock and opened it.
His eyes widened in shock.
"A Devil Fruit!"
He never expected Ricky to have one. Since the man had already eaten a fruit, he probably kept this one to sell or give to a subordinate — but feared betrayal.
Looks like I got here just in time. freewёbnoνel.com
The fruit had a strange appearance: perfectly square with sharp edges, green skin, and eerie spiral patterns.
"System, do you sell a Devil Fruit Encyclopedia?"
[Ding! Devil Fruit Encyclopedia costs 30 million berries. Deducted from host’s inventory.]
A red book suddenly appeared in front of him, titled Devil Fruit Encyclopedia in simple, bold letters.
Rorschach picked it up and grumbled internally. I hadn’t even said yes yet... freewebnøvel.com
Whatever. He needed it right now. 30 million berries was a small price to pay.
He flipped through the book, fascinated by the bizarre fruit shapes. After searching for a while, he finally found a perfect match.
"Barrier-Barrier Fruit!"
Jackpot. Among Paramecia fruits, the Barrier Fruit was famous for having the strongest defense. Neither the Glint-Glint Fruit nor the Castle-Castle Fruit could compare.
In the original story, this fruit should have gone to Bartolomeo four years from now. Now it was in his hands — perfect for giving to one of his less combat-oriented crew members.
This way he could fight without worrying about their safety.
Bang!
"Rorschach, what the hell are you doing?! That noise was huge! Do you want to alert the kingdom’s guards?!"
"Hurry up and grab Ricky and Nandel’s heads plus the treasure. We need to get out of here before the guards show up!"
Karina burst through the door, yelling at him.
"Hehe, we hit it big this time," Rorschach said with a grin. He turned and showed the girls the Devil Fruit in his hand.
"Is that... the legendary Devil Fruit?!"
The three girls stared at the strange fruit, remembering everything Rorschach had taught them.
"Correct. And it’s a Paramecia with the strongest defensive ability — the Barrier-Barrier Fruit."
"Which one of you wants to eat it?"
Rorschach casually tossed the fruit to Karina.
"Hey! That’s worth hundreds of millions of berries! What if it breaks?!" Karina glared at him.
"You’re really giving something this valuable to us?" Nami asked, stunned.
With this fruit, Rorschach could fight freely without worrying about them being attacked from behind.
"That’s right. With the Barrier Fruit, I won’t have to hold back anymore. So one of you three has to eat it today."
