Chapter 677: Chapter 638 Snow Monster Explorer
Just when everyone was curious about the completely useless Ultraman toy Zhao Rong was holding, he suddenly pressed a red button on its back. Then, he smiled and explained, "Ladies, Assistant, there’s something you don’t know. Although this looks like a toy Ultraman, its scientific name is actually the Snow Monster Detector. As long as I have this gadget, it can quickly detect any monster that appears in the deep snow or on the ice fields."
When the others saw the red toy Ultraman start walking rapidly across the ice after Zhao Rong pressed the button, they were all utterly astonished.
Lili watched the toy Ultraman walk on the ice with curiosity and asked, "Zhao Rong, can your so-called Snow Monster Detector really find the monsters hidden under the snow around us?"
Zhao Rong told Lili with certainty, "Lili, the instruction manual for this Snow Monster Detector says it only needs five minutes to find the monster’s hiding spot. So, all we have to do now is wait patiently for five minutes, and the truth about this monster will be revealed."
Yu Lan scratched the back of her head. She looked out at the vast, white expanse of snow, squinting against the blinding glare of the sun. "I just don’t believe this toy Ultraman can find one tiny little monster in such a huge area in just five minutes," she said.
However, before Yu Lan could finish speaking, the red toy Ultraman suddenly spun in place. A voice alert spoke to Zhao Rong, "Zhao Rong, the spot where you are standing is the back of the Snow Monster."
When Zhao Rong heard the Snow Monster Detector announce that they were all standing on the monster’s back, cold sweat beaded on his forehead. He immediately pulled the Damo Sword from his Magic Ring and said in disbelief, "Holy crap, you’ve got to be kidding! If we’re standing on the monster’s back, just how enormous is this Snow Monster?"
Lili said in terror, "I originally thought the monster the Eskimo people talked about was just a mammoth, a polar bear, or maybe a mutated humpback whale... I never imagined this Snow Monster would be so huge! It’s beyond anything we could have expected."
Yu Lan moved closer to Zhao Rong, feeling the ground shake. "Zhao Rong, do you feel that? It’s like an earthquake just hit the North Pole!"
Xue Lianmei also felt the ground swaying beneath her feet. "Zhao Rong," she said, "could that Ultraman you bought from the Paradise Shopping Cart have woken up the Snow Monster? Why else would this huge slab of ice and snow start shaking?"
While Zhao Rong and his group were still trying to figure out if it was an earthquake or the Snow Monster, the Eskimo people suddenly started running around in a panic.
"Oh no! The Snow Monster! It’s coming out to eat people!"
In the next instant, Zhao Rong, Lili, Yu Lan, Xue Lianmei, and the assistant were all thrown from the monster’s back. A creature as tall as a skyscraper rose before them.
When Zhao Rong saw the colossal creature, cold sweat dripped down his forehead once more. He looked over at the Eskimo Chieftain, who was standing nearby, equally terrified. "Eskimo Chieftain," he said, "is this the Snow Monster you told us about? It’s really that massive? Taller than a skyscraper?"
The Eskimo Chieftain nodded. "Yes, sir," he told Zhao Rong. "Otherwise, why would I have traveled all this way to ask you to kill this monster? It has slaughtered countless Eskimos."
When the assistant heard that this colossal being was indeed the monster the Eskimos had described, he angrily turned on the Chieftain. "Eskimo Chieftain, you! Why didn’t you tell us the monster you hired us to fight was this unnaturally huge? If we had known it was taller and bigger than a skyscraper, we never would have come with you to kill it! This thing is completely beyond our ability to fight!"
Listening to the assistant, the Eskimo Chieftain sounded aggrieved. "But you never asked! If you had told me you couldn’t handle such a gigantic snow monster, we wouldn’t have brought you here either!"
Lili roughly estimated the creature’s weight. "Zhao Rong," she said, "this snow monster has to weigh at least 10,000 tons. It’s practically like a small asteroid hitting Earth."
Yu Lan estimated the monster’s height. "Zhao Rong," she said, "this creature is immense—bigger than a Tesla! It’s practically as tall as the Empire State Building in New York!"
Xue Lianmei took in the monster’s entire appearance, and understanding dawned on her. "Zhao Rong, now I get why you bought an Ultraman from the Paradise Shopping Cart to fight this thing!" she exclaimed. "This monster looks exactly like the kaiju from the shows!"
At that moment, the surrounding Eskimos began to lose faith in Zhao Rong’s group. They started murmuring frantically.
"If we’d known these people couldn’t handle the Snow Monster, we never should have invited them! Isn’t this a waste of our time and our lives?"
"Exactly! Just look at the terrified expressions on their faces. It’s obvious they have no idea how to deal with this giant monster. Instead of waiting for them, we should just run for it before we get eaten!"
"That’s right! These five are completely incapable of killing this thing. Let’s save ourselves and get out of here. Staying is a death sentence!"
Just as the surrounding Eskimos were losing all hope in him, Zhao Rong simply smiled. He held up the toy Ultraman he’d bought from the Paradise Shopping Cart and spoke to the gigantic monster before him.
"Monster, if you surrender now, I will spare your life. At most, I’ll send you to a planet for monsters, somewhere out in the universe.
"However, if you resist, I will activate this Ultraman in my hand and destroy you."
