When the assistant heard Zhao Rong claim that giving him sleeping pills would allow him to lead everyone to the Polar Evil Spirit’s tomb, he burst out laughing. "Brother Zhao Rong, are you kidding me?" he scoffed. "Do you really believe what the Polar Evil Spirit said? That after I fall asleep, I’ll sleepwalk to its tomb, dig it up, and carry it back to the ice house? That’s all fake. You can’t actually believe him!"
Hearing the assistant’s denial, Zhao Rong could only manage an awkward smile. Just then, as the sky began to brighten, the three women arrived. The moment they stepped into the assistant’s ice house, they were assaulted by a thick stench of body odor that made them reflexively cover their noses.
Lili, finding it hard to breathe, asked, "Brother Zhao Rong, Assistant, what were you two doing in here yesterday? Why does the room reek so strongly of body odor?"
The stench was so overpowering it brought tears to Yu Lan’s eyes. "Brother Zhao Rong, which one of you has body odor?" she asked, her voice choked. "It’s absolutely suffocating..."
Xuelian couldn’t stand it either. "I’ve never smelled anything this repulsive in my life," she said. "It’s so foul it’s making me want to throw up."
When the assistant saw the three women, he hurried to have them settle the argument. "Ladies, please, you be the judge! Tell us who’s right and who’s wrong..."
He quickly explained, "It’s like this, ladies. Brother Zhao Rong says that if he gives me sleeping pills, I will lead everyone to the tomb of the Polar Evil Spirit. But I think that after taking sleeping pills, I’ll just be sound asleep. I won’t do anything else. Miss Lili, Yu Lan, Xuelian, who do you believe? Me or Brother Zhao Rong?"
The three of them will definitely believe me, not Brother Zhao Rong, the assistant thought. What he said is just too bizarre. Anyone with half a brain would know it can’t be true.

Lili stepped forward first. "I think what Brother Zhao Rong said is completely believable," she declared. "I choose to trust Brother Zhao Rong."
Yu Lan then stepped forward, took Zhao Rong’s hand, and looked at him affectionately. "Brother, I also choose to believe you, not the assistant."
Xuelian was even more decisive. She glared at the assistant and said, "I’d rather believe in ghosts than a single word from your mouth. I also choose to believe Brother Zhao Rong, because he never lies. Even if he did, it would only be a white lie."
Infuriated that all three women had sided with Zhao Rong, the assistant pulled out a bottle of sleeping pills. "Miss Lili, Yu Lan, Xuelian! Since you refuse to believe me and insist on believing Brother Zhao Rong’s absurd story—that if I take sleeping pills, I’ll voluntarily go to the Polar Evil Spirit’s grave, dig it up, and carry it back here? With that, the assistant swallowed the pills. He immediately felt a wave of drowsiness, lay down on the bed, and fell fast asleep, soon letting out loud snores.
Once the assistant was asleep, the three women immediately looked at Zhao Rong. "Brother Zhao Rong, we knew you were just making things up to tease him," one of them admitted. "But we still took your side because we’ll always believe in you. You’re our brother."
Lili added, "Honestly, Brother Zhao Rong, we believed the assistant was telling the truth and you were lying. We only chose to support you because we are unshakeably loyal to you. We believe in you and trust you."
Yu Lan also smiled. "This assistant is so foolish. To think he’d take a whole bottle of sleeping pills over a casual remark from Brother Zhao Rong. I’ve never seen such a dense man in my life."
Xuelian also scoffed at the assistant. "How could anyone possibly find a dead person’s grave in their sleep and dig the body out? That’s impossible. We were just going along with Brother Zhao Rong to support him. But you, Assistant, you actually took it seriously. You’re too intense, always getting hung up on the smallest things."
But just as the women were talking, Zhao Rong pulled out his phone. "Miss Lili, Yu Lan, Xuelian, take a look at this video I shot last night," he said. "Then you’ll understand just how creepy things got."
Lili took the phone from him, pressed play, and watched the video intently. When she saw the assistant get up in the middle of the night, walk out of the ice house to a strange cemetery, dig open a grave, carry out the ghost, and bring it back to share his bed, she was absolutely stunned.
Incredulous, Lili said, "Brother Zhao Rong, you were actually telling the truth... This guy... he’s incredibly strange. He’s definitely not a normal person."
After Yu Lan watched the video, she gasped, a chill running down her spine. She looked over at the snoring assistant and said, "Assistant, you are truly twisted... so strange, so unlike anyone else."

Just as they were all discussing it, the assistant suddenly sat up again. He got dressed, his eyes gleaming with a fierce light, and walked out of the ice house.
